  • Cam Akers RB | SEA

Rams' Cam Akers: Leading rusher again

Akers carried the ball 15 times for 63 yards and lost one yard on his only reception (three targets) in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Jets.

While he wasn't able to repeat his huge performance from the week before, Akers was still clearly the Rams' No. 1 back, as no other Los Angeles player received more than one carry. The rookie will look to post better numbers during a Week 16 trip to Seattle that will likely decide the winner of the NFC West.

  • Texans' Scottie Phillips: Added to return game

Phillips had two carries for nine yards, caught his lone target for seven yards and returned five kickoffs for 96 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to Indianapolis.

Phillips took on a larger role Week 15 as both Duke Johnson (neck) and C.J. Prosise (ankle) were inactive. The injuries elevated Phillips to third on the running back depth chart behind David Johnson and Buddy Howell. He also became the primary kick returner, a job that most recently was held by Prosise. This was fourth straight game he's been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster, and the touches were his first of the season.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Modest opportunity in win

Vaughn rushed twice for four yards, failed to bring in his only target, and recovered a Chris Godwin fumble in the Buccaneers' 31-27 win over the Falcons on Sunday.

The rookie was slated to spell lead back Leonard Fournette on occasion in Sunday's contest with Ronald Jones out of action due to a finger injury and his reserve/COVID-19 designation. However, with the Buccaneers down 17-0 at halftime, game script turned away from the ground attack for the most part, leaving Vaughn with scant opportunity. Vaughn could be back to an even smaller role or inactive status for a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Lions if Jones is able to return for that contest.

  • Colts' Nyheim Hines: Limited to seven touches

Hines rushed the ball five times for 43 yards in Week 15 against the Texans. He added two receptions for 11 yards.

Hines played a complementary role to Jonathan Taylor, with much of his production coming on the team's first drive on a 23-yard run. He chipped in from there for the remainder of the game, including additional rushes of 11 and nine yards as well as a nine-yard reception. Hines will likely be in line for a complementary role once again in a Week 16 matchup against the Steelers.

  • Gus Edwards RB | LAC

Ravens' Gus Edwards: Logs nine carries

Edwards rushed the ball nine times for 42 yards in Week 15 against the Jaguars. He added two receptions for 36 yards.

Edwards led the Ravens offense on their opening drive, taking the first two handoffs of the game. However, he was ultimately out-touched by J.K. Dobbins 15-11. Despite the limited workload, Edwards had chances to produce, specifically taking a handoff to the two-yard line before being replaced by Dobbins to begin the second quarter. Similarly, Edwards broke off a 34-yard run early in the third quarter that ended five yards shy of the end zone, though Lamar Jackson ultimately capped the drive with a touchdown rush of his own. Edwards should be in line for a similar workload in Week 16 against the Giants.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Good news from X-rays

Edwards-Helaire (hip/leg) received negative X-ray results after Sunday's 32-29 win over the Saints, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.

Coach Andy Reid said that Edwards-Helaire "got twisted up into the splits" in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win, but it looks like the rookie running back has at least avoided any sort of fracture. Edwards-Helaire had to be helped off the field by trainers, and he was unable to put any weight on his left leg. Le'Veon Bell, who had 15 carries for 62 yards and a score versus New Orleans, would be in line to lead Kansas City's backfield if Edwards-Helaire can't face the Falcons in Week 16.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Injured late Sunday

Edwards-Helaire (hip/leg) is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against the Saints.

The rookie first-round pick appeared to have his lower left leg rolled up on late in the fourth quarter. He was able to limp off the field with the assistance of trainers but didn't place any weight on his injured leg. Le'Veon Bell stands to take over as the Chiefs' primary ball carrier as long as Edwards-Helaire is sidelined. Before leaving the field, Edwards-Helaire had 14 carries for 79 yards and secured one of four targets for four yards.

  • J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN

Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Leads backfield again

Dobbins carried the ball 14 times for 64 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Jaguars. He added one reception for 17 yards.

Dobbins paced the Ravens' backfield, though Gus Edwards still commanded nine carries to eat into his workload. His longest rush came on the fifth play from scrimmage, when he racked up 11 yards along the left side of the offensive line. Dobbins continued to rush well throughout the first half, ripping off runs of seven, eight and nine yards on two separate drives before plunging into the end zone from two yards away. He has now hit pay dirt in four consecutive games and will head into a Week 16 matchup against the Giants with a seemingly secure workload.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Paces backfield again

Taylor rushed 16 times for 83 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Texans. He added four receptions for 12 yards as a receiver.

Taylor dominated the work out of the Colts' backfield, accounting for 16 of the 21 running back touches. He worked efficiently, tallying a long run of 14 yards and also rushing for at least five yards on eight of his attempts. Taylor opened the scoring with a five-yard touchdown plunge, his second consecutive game with a score. Also encouraging was Taylor's continued work as a receiver, as he doubled Nyheim Hines' reception total. He should maintain his status as the clear lead back in a Week 16 matchup against Pittsburgh.

  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Lions' D'Andre Swift: Scores twice via ground

Swift registered 67 yards and two rushing TDs over 15 carries, adding four receptions for 15 yards during Sunday's 46-25 loss to the Titans. He also lost one fumble.

With Detroit remaining devoid of No. 1 wideout Kenny Golladay (hip) since Week 8, Swift again stepped into a notable pass-catching role, tying Mohamed Sanu for second on the team in targets. The second-round rookie currently holds a streak of eight consecutive games with three or more receptions, and he's now provided three rushing scores over his past two outings. Swift was inches away from a fourth TD in two games, but Tennessee defender DaQuan Jones punched the ball out to cause a goal-line turnover in the second quarter. A Week 16 matchup against Tampa Bay has the potential to curtail Swift's effectiveness on the ground, as the Buccaneers are surrendering a league-low 3.1 yards per carry to opposing backs on the season.
