  • Jaguars' Chris Rodriguez: Active practice Thursday

Rodriguez had his most active practice of training camp thus far Thursday, according to John Shipley of SI.com.

Per Shipley, where Rodriguez, who took several carries in team drills, stood out the most Thursday was when the Jaguars ran plays backed up at their own 1-yard line, a scenario in which all of Rodriguez's carries went for positive yards during the session. Shipley adds that the free-agent addition, who profiles as a power back, could carve out a key role when it comes to goal-line carries, an area that fellow RB Bhayshul Tuten made his mark in last season. In any case, looking ahead to Week 1, a committee approach featuring Tuten and Rodriguez seems a likely outcome, with LeQuint Allen also in the mix to handle complementary backfield touches.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Packers' Josh Jacobs: Sitting out due to groin Thursday

Jacobs isn't practicing Thursday due to a groin injury, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Jacobs' injury isn't believed to be anything concerning, per Schneidman. The star running back continues to top a Packers depth chart that also includes MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks (hamstring). Jacobs' participation level at training camp will bear monitoring, but he isn't expected to see extensive preseason action even if fully healthy. The Packers will kick off their preseason slate Aug. 13 against the Steelers.

  • Isaiah Davis RB | NYJ

Jets' Isaiah Davis: Set to miss time with knee injury

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Thursday that Davis is expected to miss "a few weeks" due to a knee injury, Antwan Staley of the New York Daily News reports.

Glenn didn't sound overly concerned with Davis' injury, though the timeline provided suggests that running back won't be available for at least the Jets' preseason opener against the Buccaneers on Aug. 14. Braelon Allen has an opportunity to take the lead in the competition for the second spot on the running back depth chart behind Breece Hall while Davis is sidelined.

  • Raiders' Dare Ogunbowale: Catches on with Las Vegas

Ogunbowale signed a contract with the Raiders on Wednesday.

After a four-year run in Houston, Ogunbowale will head to Las Vegas and will battle for a backup running back job in training camp and the preseason. The 32-year-old has averaged just 3.4 yards per carry for his career, but he's been serviceable on passing downs and has found a spot on NFL rosters each of the past nine seasons mainly because of his contributions on special teams. In Las Vegas, Ogunbowale looks set to compete with third-year player Dylan Laube and undrafted rookie Roman Hemby for the third spot on the depth chart behind Ashton Jeanty and fourth-round rookie Mike Washington.

  • Jahmyr Gibbs RB | DET

Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs: Working off to side Thursday

Gibbs (back) took part in the Lions' walkthrough and stretch Thursday before taking part in conditioning work on a side field during practice, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

After Gibbs arrived at the Lions' facility in full uniform, he appeared poised to take part in his first practice of training camp, but he's apparently not ready to get involved in drills just yet. Gibbs is managing what appears to be a minor back issue, though his desire for a long-term contract extension may also be a factor in keeping him from practicing. With the Falcons' Bijan Robinson and Colts' Jonathan Taylor securing new contracts this week, Gibbs could be next in line to put pen to paper on a new deal.

  • Jahmyr Gibbs RB | DET

Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs: Present for practice

Gibbs (back) was in uniform and taking reps during the early walkthrough portion of Thursday's practice, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Gibbs, who coach Dan Campbell previously noted was dealing with a "little bit of a back" issue that cropped up during conditioning tests, has been looking for a new deal with the Lions, so his presence at practice, in any capacity, is notable. However, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, after the team's walkthrough and stretch, Gibbs went to a side field to work with a trainer, so it appears as though the running back may not participate in the rest of Thursday's session after all.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Lands two-year extension with Colts

Taylor agreed to terms Thursday with the Colts on a two-year, $44 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Schefter relays that the deal is worth up to $47 million and includes $39 million guaranteed. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Taylor's new deal is the largest-ever third contract for an NFL running back, setting the stage for the 27-year-old to continue working as the undisputed lead option in a Colts backfield that also includes DJ Giddens, Seth McGowan, Ulysses Bentley, Anderson Castle and Roydell Williams. With both Taylor and Bijan Robinson now having landed extensions, attention turns to Detroit's Jahmyr Gibbs, another top-tier running back looking for a lucrative new pact ahead of Week 1.

  • Ben VanSumeren RB | BUF

Bills' Ben VanSumeren: Participating in training camp

VanSumeren (knee) participated in Buffalo's training camp Wednesday, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.

VanSumeren has fully recovered from the torn patella tendon he suffered last September with the Eagles. The 26-year-old is expected to serve as the Bills' primary fullback during the upcoming campaign.

  • Commanders' Jacory Croskey-Merritt: Improving in passing game

Croskey-Merritt made it a point over the offseason to improve his ability in the passing game, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.

"They just want to be able to do more," Croskey-Merritt said. "The more you can do, the better." The second-year running back has been given more opportunities to catch the ball in practice, and coach Dan Quinn said he's been "digging into him a bunch" to improve that area of his game. Croskey-Merritt has added eight pounds of muscle this offseason and is expected to operate as the team's lead back on early downs ahead of newcomer Rachaad White. If he can provide more in the passing game, it would go a long way to raising Croskey-Merritt's fantasy floor.

  • TJ Harden RB | SEA

Seahawks' TJ Harden: Signs with Seahawks

Seattle signed Harden on Wednesday, Ari Horton of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Just a couple days after being cut by Cleveland, Harden is already getting another chance with a new squad. He's likely a long shot to make the 53-man roster, competing with names like Zach Charbonnet (knee), rookie first-rounder Jadarian Price, George Holani and free agent acquisition Emanuel Wilson.
