  • Jalen White RB | GB

Packers' Jalen White: Nursing foot injury

White suffered a foot injury during the Saturday's 30-10 preseason loss to the Jets, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.

White played seven snaps (two on offense, five on special teams) and turned two carries into 16 yards late in the second quarter of Saturday's game. He appears to have come out of that contest worse for wear, and his practice participation during the coming week will provide clarity on his status for Saturday's exhibition game against the Colts. White signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in late April and is competing for a depth spot on Green Bay's 53-man roster.

  • Brittain Brown RB | CHI

Bears' Brittain Brown: Headed to Windy City

The Bears signed Brown to a contract Monday.

The move corresponds with Chicago waiving Ameer Speed (undisclosed) with an injury designation. Brown spent most of the 2024 season on the Seahawks' practice squad and hasn't seen regular-season action since 2022 with the Raiders, when he played 61 snaps on special teams across six games. He'll have an opportunity to see snaps out of the backfield during practices and preseason games due to injuries to Roschon Johnson (foot), Travis Homer (calf) and Deion Hankins (concussion).

  • Buccaneers' Jase McClellan: Headed to Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers signed McClellan to a contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The 2024 sixth-rounder played in just two regular-season games with the Falcons during his rookie campaign and ended the year on injured reserve due to a knee injury. McClellan was waived by Atlanta in June, but he will get an opportunity to make an NFL roster with the Buccaneers. He'll have a shot at seeing some backup reps out of the backfield due to Rachaad White (groin) being sidelined.

  • Dolphins' Aaron Shampklin: Makes deal with Miami

The Dolphins signed Shampklin on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Shampklin made three regular-season appearances with Pittsburgh in 2024, recording six carries for 17 yards over 27 offensive snaps. After getting waived by the Steelers back in May, Shampklin worked out with a few different teams before finally finding a fit with Miami. The placement of Alexander Mattison (neck) on injured reserve Monday left the Dolphins without any proven options at tailback behind De'Von Achane, leading to Shampklin's signing.

  • Ameer Abdullah RB | IND

49ers' Ameer Abdullah: Lands on IR with rib injury

The 49ers placed Abdullah (ribs) on injured reserve Monday.

Abdullah joined the 49ers in late July due to multiple injuries to the team's backfield, but the 2015 second-rounder suffered a rib injury of his own during San Francisco's 30-9 preseason loss to Denver on Saturday. By being placed on IR, Abdullah will be forced to miss the entire 2025 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the 49ers. Jeff Wilson was signed by the 49ers to a one-year contract in a corresponding move.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Misses Monday's practice

Mitchell (undisclosed) did not participate in Monday's training camp practice, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mitchell hasn't practiced since the Ravens' preseason win over the Colts on Thursday, when he rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. The nature and severity of Mitchell's injury isn't clear, but he would be in jeopardy of missing Saturday's exhibition contest against the Cowboys were he not to return to practice. With Mitchell, Rasheen Ali (undisclosed) and Marcus Major (concussion) all sidelined, D'Ernest Johnson and Myles Gaskin will compete for RB3 reps behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.

  • Dolphins' Alexander Mattison: Moves to injured reserve

The Dolphins placed Mattison (neck) on injured reserve Monday.

Mattison emerged from Sunday's preseason tie with the Bears with neck soreness and then reportedly underwent neck surgery not longer afterward, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. With Mattison's move to IR, the severity of the injury more or less has been confirmed, and he'll miss the 2025 season, barring getting cut with an injury settlement. Both Jaylen Wright and rookie Ollie Gordon now both have clearer paths to locked-in reserve roles behind Miami's top RB De'Von Achane.

  • Browns' Pierre Strong: Practicing Monday

Strong (undisclosed) participated in Monday's training camp practice in a limited capacity, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports.

Strong did not play in Friday's preseason game against the Panthers due to an undisclosed injury. The 2022 fourth-rounder is in a battle against Trayveon Williams and rookie fourth-rounder Dylan Sampson for a spot on the Browns' 53-man roster as a depth running back. Strong should be available for Saturday's preseason game against the Eagles if he can increase his practice activity over the coming week.

  • Buccaneers' Josh Williams: Back at practice Monday

Williams (hamstring) participated in Monday's training camp practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Williams has been sidelined for much of the last two weeks due to a hamstring strain, which caused him to miss Saturday's preseason game against the Titans. He's recovered enough to return to practice, and the undrafted rookie will resume his battle against Sean Tucker and Owen Wright for the RB3 job behind Bucky Irving and Rachaad White (groin).

  • Ty Chandler RB | NO

Vikings' Ty Chandler: In battle for No. 3 RB role

Chandler had five carries for five yards along with three receptions for 20 yards in Saturday's preseason win over Baltimore. However, he may have fallen behind Zavier Scott in the competition for the No. 3 RB role, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Scott had an impressive performance with seven carries for 40 yards. However, Chandler did work with the first-team offense while Scott had most of his production in the second quarter. Chandler also was one of the two primary kick returners, which could give him an edge. Still, this battle may not be decided until late in camp, and the loser may not stay on the 53-man roster.
