  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Jets' Dalvin Cook: Just two touches in Week 15

Cook rushed once for four yards and caught his lone target for six yards in Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Dolphins.

Cook handled just two touches compared to six for rookie Israel Abanikanda. The Jets have been eliminated from playoff contention after dropping to 5-9, so Cook may continue to be phased out down the stretch to allow more opportunities for Abanikanda behind lead back Breece Hall.

  • Jets' Israel Abanikanda: Gets six touches in Week 15

Abanikanda rushed four times for eight yards and caught both of his targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Dolphins.

Breece Hall led New York's backfield with seven touches, but Abanikanda was right behind him while Dalvin Cook got only two touches. Had the game stayed competitive longer, Hall would likely have finished with a larger share of the workload, but with the 5-9 Jets officially eliminated from playoff contention, it wouldn't be surprising to see Abanikanda supplant Cook as the primary backup to Hall down the stretch. Cook's finishing up a one-year deal, while Abanikanda could be in the team's plans for years to come after being selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

  • Zack Moss RB | CIN

Colts' Zack Moss: Hopes to play Week 16

Moss (shoulder) intends to suit up for Sunday's game against the Falcons despite having been forced out of Saturday's 30-13 win over the Steelers with an injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Moss had X-rays on his shoulder to determine the severity of his injury, with results thankfully coming back negative. The running back's actual chances of playing Week 16 likely will come down to the extent of his participation in practice, with the same potentially being true for Jonathan Taylor, who has been sidelined the past three games while recovering from thumb surgery. That leaves Indianapolis' backfield murky for the time being. Tennessee also has Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson available as depth options.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Quiet again in No. 3 role

Wilson rushed two times for five yards during Sunday's 30-0 win over the Jets. He also secured one of two targets for one yard.

Wilson continues to handle a clear depth role with Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane both healthy. It's difficult to imagine a path for Wilson to handle a relevant workload without at least one of the starters ahead of him missing time, meaning he remains off the fantasy radar heading into a key Week 16 matchup against Dallas.

  • Royce Freeman RB | CHI

Rams' Royce Freeman: Ineffective in win

Freeman rushed six times for 16 yards during Sunday's 28-20 victory against the Commanders.

The veteran back actually saw an uptick in usage against Washington, taking the field for 17 snaps on offense after garnering just 12 snaps combined in the previous two contests. Freeman didn't do a whole lot with his carries, topping out with a four-yard rush and just 2.6 YPC, while Kyren Williams had another monster game on the ground (27-152-1) but did fumble twice. Freeman's role will remain capped as a backup unless the turnover issues for Williams persist.

  • Samaje Perine RB | CIN

Broncos' Samaje Perine: Quiet in loss

Perine rushed six times for 37 yards and caught his lone target for 11 yards in Saturday's 42-17 loss to the Lions.

Perine operated as the primary backup to Javonte Williams on Saturday, playing 39 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps while Williams handled a 48 percent snap share. The former Bengal was the more efficient back, as Williams recorded 20 yards on 14 touches, but Perine's slightly elevated usage in Week 15 was likely due to game script, as the Broncos were playing from behind throughout the game. The veteran will be hard to trust for fantasy purposes as long as Williams can stay healthy. The Broncos host the Patriots in Week 16.

  • Broncos' Jaleel McLaughlin: Four touches against Detroit

McLaughlin carried the ball two times for two yards and secured two of three targets for 16 yards in Saturday's 42-17 loss to the Lions.

McLaughlin played just eight of Denver's 64 offensive snaps in the contest behind starter Javonte Williams (31) and primary backup Samaje Perine (25). With such limited usage, the rookie running back is far off the fantasy radar as anything more than an insurance policy if Williams or Perine were to miss time due to injury. McLaughlin will look to continue his role as a depth option out of the backfield when the Broncos host the Patriots in Week 16.

  • Commanders' Antonio Gibson: Role doesn't increase

Gibson took four carries for 15 yards and caught each of his five targets for 20 yards in a 28-20 loss to the Rams on Sunday.

He surprisingly didn't get more playing time in the absence of Brian Robinson (hamstring), with Gibson's 45 percent snap share lining up with his season-long rate of 46 percent. The Commanders instead used Chris Rodriguez (10 carries for 35 yards) as their lead runner and also gave Jonathan Williams some playing time (13 snaps, 22 percent), though Williams eventually left due to a concussion. Gibson might have more appeal in Week 16 against the Jets if both Robinson and Williams are inactive, but even that scenario isn't a guarantee of anything after his disappointing Week 15 results.

  • Kareem Hunt RB | KC

Browns' Kareem Hunt: Twenty combined yards

Hunt rushed for eight yards on seven carries and caught his lone target for 12 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Bears.

The combined yards were the fewest since Week 4, as the Bears shut down the Browns' rushing attack. Three of Hunt's carries came in the red zone, including a rush from the two-yard line, but he was unable to log what would have been his eighth TD. While Hunt plays second fiddle to Jerome Ford in terms of carries and playing time, his seven rushing touchdowns lead Cleveland.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

Giants' Matt Breida: Tallies 21 total yards Week 15

Breida rushed three times for 10 yards and caught two of three targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 24-6 loss to New Orleans.

New York struggled to gain traction on the ground against a stout New Orleans defensive front, and the team turned to the air more frequently than usual in the second half while playing catch-up. As a result, quarterback Tommy DeVito led the team with 36 rushing yards on the day, while top running back Saquon Barkley gained just 14 yards on nine carries. In that context, Breida's 10 yards on three rushes wasn't entirely disastrous, especially given that his longest carry of the day (for five yards) went one yard further than Barkley's. Of course, there's no running back competition here, and though Breida is the clear No. 2 back for the Giants, he has very little fantasy viability as long as Barkley is healthy.
