Mo Alie-Cox TE | IND
Colts' Mo Alie-Cox: Out with foot injury
Alie-Cox is not participating during Saturday's practice due to a foot injury, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
Alie-Cox was spotted on the sidelines wearing a boot on his foot. The Colts signed two tight ends ahead of Saturday's practice, which seemed to be a precursor to an unannounced injury given only Jelani Woods (hamstring) had missed time recently. Expect more information regarding the severity of Alie-Cox's injury to be reported in the coming days.

Cade Otton TE | TB
Buccaneers' Cade Otton: Excited about new offense
Otton, who's heading into the 2023 season as the No. 1 tight end, is excited about the diversity the position enjoys in new coordinator Dave Canales' offense, Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports.
The second-year pro, who's the top pass-catching option at his position on the Buccaneers, will be playing in a scheme projected to feature an emphasis on the ground attack and plenty of play action off of that. That's expected to open up some more opportunities for a player the caliber of Otton, who's both a solid blocker and has also already demonstrated an ability to find soft spots in coverage. The projected increase in the use of two-tight-end sets -- which is based on how frequently the team Canales served as quarterbacks coach for a year ago, the Seahawks, deployed that formation -- should also be a significant benefit for Otton. Seattle ran 12 personnel on 29.5 percent of plays in 2022, a notable increase over the 17.4 percent clip the Buccaneers did under then-coordinator Byron Leftwich.

Miller Forristall TE | LAR
Browns' Miller Forristall: Signs with Cleveland
The Browns signed Forristall on Friday.
Forristall, 25, spent the bulk of the offseason with the Saints but was cut July 25. He's back in Cleveland after appearing in six games for the Browns over the previous two seasons. Forristall has yet to catch an NFL pass.

Darren Waller TE | MIA
Giants' Darren Waller: Impressing Giants' staff
Waller has drawn rave reviews for his performance in Giants training camp, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Waller has quickly established himself as the favorite target for Daniel Jones. The veteran tight end has consistently gotten open over the middle, where the risk-averse Jones likes to place most of his throws. After acquiring Waller from the Raiders in an offseason trade, the Giants are ecstatic with what they have seen so far from the two-time 1,100-yard receiver.

Curtis Hodges TE | CAR
Commanders' Curtis Hodges: Suffers hamstring injury
Hodges suffered a hamstring injury in Friday's practice, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
The second-year undrafted free agent is competing for a depth job behind veterans Logan Thomas and John Bates and 2022 fifth-rounder Cole Turner. Hodges' chances at a roster spot improved with the season-ending Achilles injury to Armani Rogers.

Dalton Kincaid TE | BUF
Bills' Dalton Kincaid: Expected to contribute right away
Kincaid is being fast-tracked into a prominent role heading into his rookie season, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Kincaid has impressed Buffalo's coaching staff with his route-running ability and hands. The rookie first-round pick out of Utah will battle incumbent starting tight end Dawson Knox for playing time, though the Bills will likely opt to utilize more 12 personnel to get both tight ends on the field simultaneously.

Teagan Quitoriano TE | ARI
Texans' Teagan Quitoriano: Close to returning
Quitoriano (quadriceps) has been running and is closing in on a return from the active/PUP list, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Quitoriano was placed on the active/PUP list to begin camp after pulling his quadriceps in summer workouts, but the tight end is eligible to be activated at any time. Once he returns to practice, Quitoriano could benefit from additional reps while Dalton Schultz (ribs) and Brevin Jordan (hamstring) work their way back from their respective injuries.

Logan Thomas TE | SF
Commanders' Logan Thomas: Bothered by calf strain
Thomas missed Friday's practice due to a calf strain, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
The Commanders apparently don't consider the injury serious, as coach Ron Rivera used the phrase "an abundance of caution" to explain why Thomas was held out of practice. The 32-year-old tight end doesn't have the stiffest competition in Washington's TE room and seems to be liked by the coaching staff, but his status with the team still feels a bit shaky given that he struggled last season and is now due a non-guaranteed $6.28 million base salary in 2023. The biggest thing working in Thomas' favor right now might be the reality that the Commanders don't have another experienced pass catcher at his position, nor do they have any TEs drafted before the fourth round. The strongest candidate to poach targets from Thomas would probably be 2022 fifth-round pick Cole Turner, who caught two passes on 245 offensive snaps last year.
