  • Nico Collins WR | HOU

Texans' Nico Collins: Paces pass catchers in win

Collins brought in four of six targets for 48 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 24-20 preseason win over the Rams on Friday night. He also committed a fumble recovered by Houston.

The second-year wideout hauled in an 18-yard scoring grab from the arm of Davis Mills with one second remaining in the first half to give Houston its only points over the first two quarters. Collins is projected to fill the No. 2 receiver role alongside top target Brandin Cooks, and Friday's showing was a particularly welcome sight after he hadn't logged so much as a single target in the exhibition opener versus the Saints.

  • Amari Rodgers WR | IND

Packers' Amari Rodgers: Inefficient in preseason victory

Rodgers recorded two receptions on five targets for five yards in Friday's 20-10 preseason win over the Saints. He added two rushes for 15 yards and also served as the team's primary punt returner.

Rodgers had a busy game and appeared all over the stat sheet. He was inefficient as a receiver, though he seemingly had an 18-yard reception that was ultimately overturned upon review. The Packers also made a point to get Rodgers involved in the offense, as he received two carries while returning two punts for a total of nine yards. Rodgers isn't likely to open the season with a substantial offensive role, though he should make the roster based on his special-teams contributions.

  • Romeo Doubs WR | NE

    Packers' Romeo Doubs: Another touchdown

Doubs tallied three receptions on five targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 20-10 preseason win over the Saints.

Doubs didn't quite match the performance of his preseason debut, but he still showcased some impressive skills. Most notable was a four-yard touchdown catch in the middle of the second quarter, when he made a leaping contested catch in the corner of the end zone to put the Packers up 10-3. Doubs is making a push to not only secure a roster spot, but potentially a meaningful role in the offense as well. Speaking to reporters Thursday, general manager Brian Gutekunst said of Doubs, "Romeo has shown enough in his brief time here that we think he can help us," per Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

  • Jakobi Meyers WR | JAC

Patriots' Jakobi Meyers: Quiet night against Panthers

Meyers caught one of three targets for four yards in Friday's preseason game against the Panthers.

He hauled in his lone catch on the Patriots' third possession of the game, hooking up with Mac Jones to help kick-start an 81-yard touchdown drive. Meyers is coming off a strong 2021 campaign and has already established a rapport with the team's second-year QB; however, he heads into Week 1 behind trade acquisition DeVante Parker on the depth chart in what is expected to be a run-oriented offense, so Meyers could have trouble seeing the same kind of target volume he did last year. Per Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, coach Bill Belichick indicated after the game all his healthy starters would be available for New England's preseason finale next week against the Raiders, so Meyers will get one last tuneup opportunity before the regular season begins.

  • DeVante Parker WR | PHI

Patriots' DeVante Parker: One catch Friday

Parker caught one of two targets for 17 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Panthers.

The former Dolphin came out of the game soon after starting quarterback Mac Jones did, but Parker's lone catch came on a pass from veteran backup Brian Hoyer. Per Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, coach Bill Belichick indicated after the game all his healthy starters would be available for New England's preseason finale next week against the Raiders, so Parker should get his best opportunity yet next Friday to establish some chemistry with Jones prior to Week 1.

  • Patriots' Ty Montgomery: Gets into end zone Friday

Montgomery carried the ball four times for 13 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for five yards in Friday's preseason game against the Panthers.

Somewhat surprisingly, Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson and Montgomery rotated through the offense during the first half, with the latter punching in a two-yard TD early in the second quarter. It was thought the well-traveled journeyman might be the top candidate to replace the retired James White in passing situations, but Friday's usage of the trio suggests the Patriots' backfield could be a true committee in 2022 instead, making it difficult to trust any of them on a weekly basis. Per Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, coach Bill Belichick indicated after the game all his healthy starters would be available for New England's preseason finale next week against the Raiders, so there will be one more chance for the coaching staff to provide some clarity on how Montgomery and the rest of the RB crew will be deployed in the regular season.

  • Chris Olave WR | NO

Saints' Chris Olave: Impressive against Packers

Olave caught two of his three targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 20-10 preseason loss to the Packers.

Olave played nearly the entire first half and found the end zone on a 20-yard reception with 12 seconds left in the second quarter. He also chipped in an eight-yard catch that set up a field goal for the Saints. Though Olave was catching passes from Ian Book rather than Jameis Winston, he had a fairly impressive performance and can reasonably be expected to contribute immediately as a rookie once the regular season begins.

  • Patriots' Kendrick Bourne: Unavailable Friday

Coach Bill Belichick said Bourne "wasn't available" for Friday's preseason game versus the Panthers, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.

Bourne wasn't involved in pregame warmups and wasn't in uniform for the Patriots' second exhibition. His current standing on the team may stem from being ejected from a joint session with the Panthers earlier this week, but he also recently was relegated to the second-team offense in practice, per Cox. Bourne is part of a crowded wide receiver room in New England, so he may be on thin ice with Belichick and the coaching staff.

  • Patriots' Tyquan Thornton: Picks up shoulder injury

Thornton won't return to Friday's preseason game against the Panthers due to a shoulder injury.

Prior to getting ruled out in the fourth quarter, Thornton hauled in his only target for 13 yards. The severity of the injury is unknown, but his status now bears watching with just one exhibition left on the Patriots' schedule next Friday at Las Vegas.

  • Robert Foster WR | NYG

Giants' Robert Foster: Lands on IR

The Giants have placed Foster (hamstring) on their injured reserve, Dan Salomone of the team's official website reports.

The severity of Foster's hamstring injury is unknown at this time. He will be forced to spend the rest of the season on New York's IR unless both parties can ultimately come to terms on an injury settlement.
