  • Skyy Moore WR | GB

Chiefs' Skyy Moore: Limited to return duties Thursday

Moore didn't see an official target but returned two punts for 51 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Packers.

The 2022 second-round pick was the intended target of a Chad Henne incompletion deep down the sideline on Kansas City's second possession of the game, but the play was wiped out by defensive pass interference. Moore's role on offense this preseason has been almost exclusively as a deep threat, and he may be taking over Mecole Hardman's spot from last season while Hardman moves into Tyreek Hill's.

  • Amari Rodgers WR | IND

Packers' Amari Rodgers: Versatile usage again Thursday

Rodgers caught all four of his targets for 39 yards, gained 17 yards on three carries and returned a kickoff for 12 yards in Thursday's preseason game against Kansas City.

The 2021 third-round pick showed his versatility once again, and Rodgers' ability to contribute on special teams could help him secure a roster spot even after the offseason additions of wideouts Christian Watson (knee) and Romeo Doubs in the draft, as well as the signing of free agent Sammy Watkins. Rodgers caught only four of eight targets as a rookie despite suiting up for 16 games, however, and he may not see enough action on offense to see a big increase in those numbers.

  • Romeo Doubs WR | NE

Packers' Romeo Doubs: Two catches in preseason finale

Doubs caught two of three targets for 13 yards in Thursday's preseason game against Kansas City.

Both grabs came on Green Bay's lone touchdown drive of the night midway through the first half. The rookie wideout has made a splash this preseason, but Doubs is still unlikely to begin the regular season any higher than fourth on the Packers' depth chart at wide receiver. He could quickly supplant Allen Lazard or Sammy Watkins in the starting lineup if he demonstrates early chemistry with Aaron Rodgers, however.

  • 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk: Suits up Thursday

Aiyuk didn't catch his only target in Thursday's 17-0 preseason loss to the Texans.

Trey Lance looked Aiyuk's way on the game's opening drive, but the pass fell incomplete. San Francisco's offense couldn't get anything going in this preseason finale, but Lance only played the first three drives, so it's far from panic time as far as the likes of Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle are concerned.

  • Deebo Samuel WR | SF

49ers' Deebo Samuel: Starts preseason finale

Samuel didn't catch his only target in Thursday's 17-0 loss to the Texans.

It was a sluggish night for the San Francisco offense top to bottom, and the three drives with starting quarterback Trey Lance under center were no exception. Samuel started alongside Lance, but they failed to connect on a deep pass on the opening possession. Lance is unproven, but Samuel's unparalleled ability to gain yardage after the catch should allow him to thrive regardless of whether Lance ultimately proves to be an upgrade over Jimmy Garoppolo.

  • Chiefs' Marquez Valdes-Scantling: In concussion protocol

Valdes-Scantling was unavailable for Thursday's preseason finale against the Packers because he was in concussion protocol, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.

Valdes-Scantling was present on the sideline but was not in pads. The injury shouldn't raise too much concern in terms of Valdes-Scantlling's availability for Week 1, as he still has around 17 days to clear the necessary protocols. He also got some time this preseason to mesh with Patrick Mahomes, as he caught a total of three passes for 35 yards across the team's first two preseason contests.

  • Nico Collins WR | HOU

Texans' Nico Collins: Draws PI to set up TD

Collins didn't catch his only target in Thursday's 17-0 preseason win over the 49ers.

Collins also drew a pass interference penalty on Houston's opening drive to set up Dameon Pierce's one-yard touchdown run. The second-year wide receiver was thrown to once more on Houston's second drive but had a quiet night in a dress rehearsal game that saw starting quarterback Davis Mills play into the second half. Collins should have opportunities to contribute as the leading candidate to start at wide receiver opposite Brandin Cooks, but Houston's third-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft has yet to establish himself as a consistent playmaker in the NFL.

  • Randall Cobb WR | NYJ

Packers' Randall Cobb: Not slated to play Thursday

Cobb isn't in line to play in Thursday's preseason contest at Kansas City, Mike Spofford and Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site report.

Cobb will be joined on the sidelines by fellow wide receivers Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins and Christian Watson (knee), meaning Green Bay's top options at the position won't see game action until the team's season opener Sunday, Sept. 11 in Minnesota.

  • Packers' Christian Watson: Not in line to play Thursday

Watson (knee) isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason game at Kansas City, Mike Spofford and Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site report.

The same goes for fellow wide receivers Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb. The Packers activated Watson from the active/PUP list on Aug. 14 after he underwent a procedure on his knee between the offseason program and training camp, and while he mixed into team drills Monday, he has yet to receive clearance for game action. The rookie second-round pick's next chance to suit up is the team's season opener Sunday, Sept. 11 at Minnesota.

  • Chiefs' Marquez Valdes-Scantling: Not playing Thursday

Valdes-Scantling was not in uniform ahead of Thursday's preseason finale against the Packers, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

The same applies to JuJu Smith-Schuster, who is dealing with a knee issue. Once the season starts, both players are in line to see key roles in Kansas City's passing attack along with fellow wideouts Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore.
