Quintez Cephus WR | HOU
Lions' Quintez Cephus: Remains sidelined
Cephus (leg) did not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Colts, Benjamin Raven of MLive.com reports.
Cephus went down with an unspecified leg injury during the start of training camp, and it doesn't sound like he has made it back to the field yet. This extended delay has been bad news for his odds of sticking around in a suddenly crowded Detroit receiver room, let alone pushing Josh Reynolds for the No. 3 role at receiver while Jameson Williams (knee) returns to full health. It hasn't helped that Cephus' absence opened snaps for Tom Kennedy to put together a highly productive preseason. If Cephus can't make it back for the team's preseason finale next Sunday against the Steelers, he may not have much of a case for a potential fifth or sixth roster spot depending on whether Williams starts the year on the PUP list.

Kalif Raymond WR | CHI
Lions' Kalif Raymond: Brief preseason appearance
Raymond caught two of three targets for 10 yards during Saturday's preseason win over Indianapolis.
After catching a bomb from Tim Boyle in the preseason opener, Raymond saw a little bit of action in the first quarter this week. Given how quickly it took for his day to be done, Raymond seems like the clear No. 4 receiver for the Lions behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, DJ Chark and Josh Reynolds. While Jameson Williams (knee) will be in the fold before long and Quintez Cephus (leg) could make a case for a roster spot in the preseason finale, Raymond seems ticketed for another year in Detroit, where he likely will handle punt-return duties in addition to his rotational role at wideout.

David Moore WR | CAR
Bears' David Moore: Placed on injured reserve
Moore (lower leg) was placed on IR on Sunday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Moore was carted off the field during practice Aug. 9. The 27-year-old's absence for the 2022 season is another blow to the Bears' wide receiver corps, who will already start the season without N'Keal Harry (ankle), while Byron Pringle (quadriceps) has also missed time.

Christian Watson WR | GB
Packers' Christian Watson: Logging snaps in team drills
Watson (knee) will participate in some team drills beginning Sunday, Zach Kruse of the USA Today reports.
"He'll get some team reps today, and we'll see how he responds," coach Matt LaFleur noted Sunday of the rookie wideout. Watson, who missed the first two weeks of training camp while bouncing back from a knee procedure, was in uniform for Friday's preseason game against the Saints but didn't play. With that in mind, Kruse suggests that it's possible the 2022 second-rounder could see action in Green Bay's preseason finale (Thursday against the Chiefs) in the absence of any setbacks in the coming days.

KaVontae Turpin WR | DAL
Cowboys' KaVontae Turpin: Two return TDs against Bolts
Turpin recorded a 98-yard kickoff return and an 86-yard punt return, both for touchdowns, in Saturday's preseason game against the Chargers.
He also gained seven yards on his only carry, but it was Turpin's electric work on special teams that had the entire league buzzing Saturday night. Per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, the 5-foot-7 rookie has a spot on the 53-man roster sewn up, and given the Cowboys' lack of depth at wide receiver heading into Week 1 that could translate into more than just a role as the team's top return man.

DeVonta Smith WR | PHI
Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Rested Sunday
Smith didn't suit up for Sunday's preseason game against the Browns, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The same applies to other key Philadelphia skill players Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Dallas Goedert and Miles Sanders (hamstring), with Smith's next chance to suit up for preseason action set for this coming Saturday against the Dolphins.
-
Amari Cooper WR | LV
Browns' Amari Cooper: Not expected to play Sunday
Cooper is not in line to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Eagles, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Per Cabot, Jacoby Brissett, Deshaun Watson, Nick Chubb, Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney also are in line to be rested Sunday, with Cooper's next chance to see preseason action arriving Saturday against Chicago.
-
Velus Jones Jr. RB | SEA
Bears' Velus Jones: Likely to sit Saturday
Jones may not play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Browns, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.
The Bears aren't expected to play their starters in order to avoid injury in a meaningless game. However, it wasn't stated which players were considered starters, so it's possible that more definitive word comes down closer to game time. If Jones doesn't play, we'll see him Week 1 against the 49ers.

Byron Pringle WR | WAS
Bears' Byron Pringle: May miss preseason finale
Pringle (quadriceps) may not play Saturday against the Browns, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.
It's unclear as to whether Pringle has recovered from his quadriceps injury, but unless the coaching staff decides he needs reps with the backups, the Bears' coaching staff is expected to sit their first-string players to avoid injuries in the team's final preseason contest. Assuming that's the case, and he's healthy to start the regular season, he'll make his Chicago debut Week 1 against the 49ers.
