Parris Campbell WR | DAL
Colts' Parris Campbell: Returns to limited practice
Campbell (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, going through 7-on-7 drills with his teammates, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
Campbell was held out of practice Monday and said he would be back in action Wednesday, though he wasn't a full participant as anticipated. The 2019 second-round pick has played only 15 games through three seasons, but he's the favorite for slot work in Indianapolis and could even get some run outside in two-wideout formations, depending on the development of rookie second-round pick Alec Pierce.

D'Wayne Eskridge WR | MIA
Seahawks' Dee Eskridge: Practicing without pads
Eskridge (hamstring) went through drills without a helmet Wednesday, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
It's an encouraging sign for Eskridge, who has displayed some vulnerability to the injury bug since he was drafted in the second round of the 2021 draft. It would be somewhat surprising to see him suit up for Seattle's preseason opener Saturday considering he still hasn't put his pads on this season, but he'll be one of the top candidates for reps behind Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf once he returns to action in earnest.

Zay Jones WR | HOU
Jaguars' Zay Jones: Showing out in camp
Jones is "having an awesome camp," Hays Carlyon of 1010 AM WJXL Jacksonville reports.
Jones, Marvin Jones and Christian Kirk have seen most of the first-team snaps, with Laquon Treadwell mixing in as the top backup on the perimeter. There have been multiple reports about Zay Jones drawing plenty of looks downfield, which is perhaps a surprise after he did his best work in shallower areas for Las Vegas in 2021. Jones received his share of deep looks with the Raiders, but he caught only four of 16 targets 20-plus yards downfield (with four others being intercepted). Meanwhile, Jones was far more efficient on intermediate passes (14 of 21 for 209 yards) and short throws (21 of 24 for 168), per Pro Football Focus.

Courtland Sutton WR | DEN
Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Practices fully
Sutton (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Ellie Kinney of The Broncos' official site reports.
With the 26-year-old moving past the minor shoulder issue, he can now resume building his on-field chemistry with new franchise quarterback Russell Wilson. With Tim Patrick (knee) set the miss the coming season, Sutton and Jerry Jeudy profile as the Broncos' clear-cut top options at wide receiver, with their fantasy prospects bolstered by the likelihood that they'll see steady volume and benefit from the upgrade Wilson presents at quarterback.

Michael Thomas WR | NO
Saints' Michael Thomas: Dominates Wednesday's practice
Thomas was one of the standout performers at the Saints' practice Wednesday, Ricardo LeCompte of WWL-TV Channel 4 New Orleans reports.
Thomas reportedly stood out in 7-on-7 drills and continues to be the subject of positive chatter among Saints beat writers. Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football also mentioned Thomas' excellent showing Wednesday, suggesting the wideout looks like he's "back" or close to it after sitting out the entire 2021 season. His average draft position in fantasy leagues has already risen considerably since the start of training camp, and the momentum may continue through August.

Tee Higgins WR | CIN
Bengals' Tee Higgins: Should resume team work soon
Higgins (shoulder) could return to team drills next week, with head coach Zac Taylor noting that the wideout is ready to go and looks good but won't be rushed by the Bengals, Geoff Hobson of the team's official site reports.
Higgins remains on track for Week 1 after March labrum surgery kept him out of the offseason program and most of training camp. He actually suffered the injury in Week 2 last season, so while there's always a bit of added risk with a player returning from offseason surgery, one could also make the case that he has a chance to be healthier than he was in 2021, when he caught 74 passes for 1,091 yards and six touchdowns despite missing three games. Higgins has been a limited participant in training camp and has yet to resume contact work.

Brandon Powell WR | MIN
Rams' Brandon Powell: Injures knee, awaiting results
Rams head coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that Powell banged his knee during practice and the team is awaiting results, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Rodrique inferred that McVay didn't appear overly concerned about Powell's injury, so at the moment, it appears like a minor issue. McVay also mentioned that Powell wouldn't have played in the preseason opener anyways, suggesting that the return-specialist is likely a lock for the initial 53-man roster. Last year, Powell totaled 341 return yards and one score across six regular-season games, but the undrafted wideout out of Florida could be in store for more receiving work during his second season in Los Angeles, especially if Van Jefferson (knee) remains sidelined heading into the regular season.
-
Randall Cobb WR | NYJ
Packers' Randall Cobb: Bothered by foot
Cobb missed Wednesday's practice with a foot injury, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
The Packers won't rush Cobb back into action and wouldn't have played him in Friday's preseason opener against Cincinnati even if he were healthy. He's back as Aaron Rodgers' slot receiver this season, though perhaps with some snap competition from 2021 third-round pick Amari Rodgers, who reportedly lost more than 10 pounds to become quicker after a no-show rookie season.
-
Dezmon Patmon WR | CAR
Colts' Dezmon Patmon: Vying for roster spot
Patmon is listed as the No. 6 wide receiver on the Colts' first unofficial depth chart of training camp, Andrew Moore of SI.com reports.
While Patmon hasn't wowed at camp, he's made enough plays to be considered as a potential option for the initial 53-man roster. Last season, the 2020 sixth-round pick made eight appearances for the Colts and caught two of four targets for 21 yards and one score across 64 offensive snaps -- all career highs. It appears like he has a shot at a larger role in Year 3, but the looming return of Mike Strachan (knee) could change things quickly.

Jakeem Grant WR | ATL
Browns' Jakeem Grant: Placed on IR
The Browns placed Grant (Achilles) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Grant's season thus officially comes to an end after he was diagnosed with a torn left Achilles' tendon following his exit from Tuesday's practice. While the absence of Grant will be felt most in the return game, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com notes that the 29-year-old had been pushing to carve out a slot role during training camp. Demetric Felton should get the first opportunity to replace Grant as the Browns' top option on kickoff and punt returns. Expect Grant to undergo surgery at some point later this month.
