  • Kendall Hinton WR | DEN

    Kendall Hinton: Cut loose Monday

The Broncos waived Hinton on Monday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

Hinton was memorably called up from the practice squad last season to play quarterback -- a position he hadn't played since college -- after all of Denver's signal-callers landed in COVID-19 protocol. The Wake Forest product completed just one of nine passes for 13 yards and two interceptions. The 24-year-old reportedly impressed as a receiver during OTAs and training camp, but it wasn't enough to crack a deep wideout depth chart.

  • Robert Foster WR | NYG

    Robert Foster: Reaches injury settlement

Foster (undisclosed) and the Dolphins came to terms on an injury settlement Monday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

Foster was originaly waived/injured by the Dolphins, but he reverted to their IR after going unclaimed. He will now be free to look for a new opportunity once his health allows it.

  • Tony Brown WR | WAS

    Tony Brown: Waived by Washington

Brown was waived by Washington on Monday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Brown went undrafted in 2020 before subsequently signing with Washington. He spent most of the year on the practice squad but did suit up for one game. The Colorado product will now be able to look for a new landing spot.

  • Tre Nixon WR | NE

    Tre Nixon: Waived by Patriots

The Patriots will waive Nixon, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Though the 2021 seventh-rounder didn't make the Patriots' initial roster, he's a candidate to land on the team's practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers. If that's the case, the UCF product would be a candidate for an in-season promotion if/when injuries hit the team's wideout corps.

  • Darius Slayton WR | IND

Giants' Darius Slayton: Should do some work this week

Slayton (ankle) will do some work on the field this week, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Slayton limped to the sideline and had his left ankle taped during the first half of Sunday's preseason loss to the Patriots. He was deemed questionable to return and never made it back, with the Giants saying afterward that the wideout would be evaluated Monday. It seems Slayton avoided a serious injury, but the Giants still may be a bit nervous given their other injury woes at wide receiver. Kenny Golladay (hamstring), Kadarius Toney (undisclosed) and John Ross (hamstring) all have been missing practice of late, leaving oft-injured Sterling Shepard as the only guy who has enjoyed a healthy summer. It does seem all of them, including Slayton, have a shot to be ready for Week 1 against Denver.

  • Tre'Quan Smith WR | DET

Saints' Tre'Quan Smith: Not at practice

Smith (undisclosed) isn't practicing Monday, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.

Smith initially left practice with an injury Aug. 3 and returned Aug. 17, but he hasn't done much since and didn't play in the Saints' final two preseason games. With Michael Thomas (ankle) already out for a chunk of the season, the team could really use Smith on the field Week 1 against Green Bay, even if Marquez Callaway has emerged as Jameis Winston's top option at wide receiver.

  • Darrius Shepherd: Fails to make roster in Kansas City

Shepherd was waived by the Chiefs on Monday, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.

The third-year wide receiver spent the last two years with the Packers getting work as a returner, tallying 374 return yards. The Chiefs' special teams coordinator called Shepherd a sure-handed returner, so he might be brought back as a practice squad member or signed by a different team that is desperate for a kick returner.

  • Kadarius Toney WR | CLE

Giants' Kadarius Toney: Still on track for Week 1

Toney (undisclosed) remains on track for the Sept. 12 season opener against the Broncos, Tom Rock of Newsday reports.

Toney has missed a notable amount of training camp, first due to a positive test for COVID-19, which delayed his start to practices, and then due to an undisclosed injury that has forced him to miss each of the Giants' preseason contests. The nature of the rookie first-round pick's injury remains undisclosed, but given the amount of reps he's missed, New York could opt to ease him back into action as the regular season kicks off.

  • Brandon Powell WR | MIN

Brandon Powell: Parts ways with Bills

Buffalo cut Powell on Monday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

Powell had spent the offseason working in Buffalo since March, but his efforts to secure a regular-season roster spot were unsuccessful. He will look to contribute elsewhere as a depth wideout and return man.

  • Zach Pascal WR | NYG

Colts' Zach Pascal: Moves to COVID-19 list

The Colts placed Pascal (undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.

Pascal was one of three players placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by Indianapolis on Monday, alongside quarterback Carson Wentz and center Ryan Kelly. The wideout looks slated for an increased role in Indianapolis' aerial attack with T.Y. Hilton (neck) out multiple weeks, but Pascal first will have to fully clear the league's protocols for COVID-19. An exact timetable for Pascal's return remains undisclosed, and he has just under two weeks before the regular-season kickoff Sept. 12 versus Seattle.
