  • Jaylon Johnson CB | CHI

Bears' Jaylon Johnson: On pace to play Sunday

Johnson (arm) was not listed on the Bears' official injury report Wednesday.

Johnson picked up an arm issue during a practice late in August, but it seems like he has already put it behind him with Week 1 of the regular season officially underway. When available, he should play a major role in Chicago's secondary this year.

  • Nick Emmanwori SAF | SEA

Seahawks' Nick Emmanwori: Inactive for Week 1

Emmanwori (ankle) is inactive for Wednesday's game against the Patriots.

Emmanwori had been listed as questionable for Wednesday's opener, but the Seahawks will give him 11 more days to get ready for Week 2 against the Cardinals. With Ty Okada (hamstring) also out, Seattle is really thin on the back end at safety and slot cornerback. AJ Finley, Rodney Thomas, Nehemiah Pritchett, Julian Neal and Avery Smith are all candidates to see more playing time on defense.

  • Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Looking good for Sunday

Stevenson (undisclosed) was not listed on the Bears' official injury report Wednesday.

Stevenson missed time in August after suffering an unspecified injury during a practice, but it looks like he's now on track to suit up in Week 1 at Carolina. He figures to operate as one of Chicago's top cornerbacks as long as he's available in 2026.

  • Eli Stowers TE | PHI

Eagles' Eli Stowers: Limited to open Week 1 prep

Stowers (hamstring) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

The rookie second-rounder has been working through a hamstring injury since the tail end of training camp, which prevented him from playing in the Eagles' preseason finale against the Bengals on Aug. 28. Stowers will have two more opportunities to increase his practice participation and avoid an injury designation for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Commanders. The Vanderbilt product figures to operate in a depth role at tight end this season behind Dallas Goedert, with Johnny Mundt and E.J. Jenkins also in the mix for snaps on offense.

  • Xavier Woods FS | CHI

Bears' Xavier Woods: On track to play at Carolina

Woods (groin) was not listed on the Bears' official injury report Wednesday.

Woods suffered a groin injury during Chicago's preseason opener versus the Browns, but it appears he's now back to full strength ahead of the start of the regular season. The free-agent acquisition projects to occupy one of the Bears' starting safety spots to start the new campaign.

  • Jalen Milroe QB | SEA

Seahawks' Jalen Milroe: Emergency QB for Wednesday night

Milroe (coach's decision) will be the emergency third quarterback for the Wednesday night matchup with the Patriots.

Milroe is the No. 3 quarterback behind Sam Darnold and Drew Lock. The second-year player is already settling into what will likely be his weekly role throughout the 2026 season, set to only check in to the game if both quarterbacks are unable to continue playing.

  • Patriots' Behren Morton: Emergency QB3 for Week 1

Morton (coach's decision) is inactive but will serve as the Patriots' emergency third quarterback for Wednesday's game against the Seahawks.

As the emergency third quarterback, Morton is prohibited from seeing the field Wednesday unless Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito are both removed from the contest due to injury, illness or ejection. Morton was a seventh-round selection of the Patriots in the 2026 NFL Draft and played in all three preseason games, completing 38 of 58 passes (65.5 percent) for 318 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while turning four carries into 18 yards.

  • Tory Horton WR | SEA

Seahawks' Tory Horton: Inactive for opener

Horton (hamstring) is inactive for Wednesday night's game against the Patriots.

The 2025 fifth-rounder was not able to recover from his hamstring injury in time for the Seahawks' Week 1 contest. Montorie Foster will take over as the No. 4 wide receiver behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed and Cooper Kupp for the contest.

  • Tim Patrick WR | NYJ

Jets' Tim Patrick: Misses practice Wednesday

Patrick (groin) did not practice Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Patrick will have a few more opportunities to practice heading into the Week 1 meeting with Tennessee. The 32-year-old most recently appeared in 16 regular-season games for the Jaguars, amassing 15 catches for 187 yards and three touchdowns. If Patrick isn't out there for the opener, it could mean more targets for Isaiah Williams and Arian Smith.

  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Won't play in regular-season opener

Chism (coach's decision) is inactive for Wednesday's game against the Seahawks.

The undrafted wide receiver out of Eastern Washington cracked the Patriots' 53-man roster after training camp for the second year in a row. He'll be a healthy scratch for the regular-season opener, and his next chance to see playing time is Week 2 against the Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 20. The Patriots will have five active wide receivers for Week 1, a group headlined by A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs and DeMario Douglas.
