The wide receiver participated in the team's first preseason game against the Titans, catching his sole target for seven yards.

McRee participated in all three preseason games, catching five of his nine targets for 60 yards and a touchdown.

The Steelers waived Hurleman during Sunday's cutdown day. The wide receiver cleared waivers and will once again sign with the practice squad. Hurleman spent the entirety of the 2025 season on the Steelers' practice squad but did not participate in any regular-season games.

The Steelers waived Smith on Sunday, and he cleared waivers and has rejoined the Steelers on the practice squad. The 27-year-old participated in the first and last preseason games for the team, catching four of his five targets for 17 yards.

The Steelers waived Nichols during Sunday's cutdown day. The running back cleared waivers and chose to accept his invitation to the team's practice squad. The 25-year-old participated in all three preseason games, rushing 20 times for 87 yards and a touchdown.

The Steelers released Homer during Sunday's cutdown day. Homer was quickly invited back to the team's practice squad due to a strong training camp. The running back played 10 regular-season games for the Bears in 2025, rushing once for a two-yard loss while also participating in 163 special teams snaps.
