Lewis is expected to shift to safety during training camp, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports

Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen stated that Lewis is shifting his focus from nickel to safety with Coby Bryant out eight to 10 weeks after suffering a knee injury during training camp. The 29-year-old signed a two-year deal with Chicago this offseason after spending six seasons with Buffalo. With the change in position, both Josh Blackwell and rookie fourth-round pick Malik Muhammad should get more reps in the slot while Kyler Gordon recovers from an offseason calf injury.

Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Hunter won't need to know the entire offensive playbook this year, instead focusing on the 'X' and 'F' receiver positions, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

That's not a great sign in terms of the playing-time projection on offense, but this does give Hunter a better chance to actually play well on whatever snaps he gets. Coen acknowledged that it was "a little much last year" for Hunter to try to master the offensive playbook while also learning some of the defense. This year, Hunter is taking most of his snaps on defense during training camp -- in part because the Jaguars appear in good shape at WR with Parker Washington, Brian Thomas and Jakobi Meyers.

The Commanders placed Witherspoon on the reserve/retired list Tuesday.

Witherspoon signed a deal with Washington back in March but appears to be hanging up the cleats at 31 years old. He spent the previous three seasons with the Rams, where he started all 17 regular-season games in 2023 before making seven regular-season starts across the 2024-25 campaigns. During his nine-year playing career, Witherspoon appeared in 96 regular-season contests and logged 60 pass breakups, including 13 interceptions.

Burden was slow to get up after a hard hit at the end of Tuesday's practice, but he said afterward that he's fine, Adam Jahns of AllCHGO.com reports.

Burden walked off the field without help and seems to have avoided any injury, even meeting with the media after practice. He's one of the more popular breakout candidates this summer, with favorable quotes from head coach Ben Johnson pouring fuel on the fire.

Brooks won't play in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

The Panthers are holding out starters and key backups, leaving most of the snaps to players who won't end up on the 53-man roster. For Brooks, the question at this point is what his workload split with Chuba Hubbard will look like. Hubbard remains the favorite to start Week 1, but summer buzz around Brooks suggests the Panthers have a significant role for him in mind.

Legette (stinger) won't play in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game, but he should resume practicing next week, Sheena Quick of Fox Sports Radio 1340 reports.

Legette was unlikely to play Thursday even before he suffered a stinger during Tuesday's practice. The Panthers reportedly aren't worried about a long-term absence, so Legette should be back fairly soon to continue competing for the No. 3 receiver job. With rookie Chris Brazzell (knee) out for the year, John Metchie appears to be Legette's primary competition.

Coach Aaron Glenn noted Tuesday that he's "very confident" Sadiq (abdomen) will be ready for Week 1 action, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.

Though the tight end suffered a setback in his recovery from the hernia surgery he underwent in the spring and will miss some time, it doesn't look like his absence will extend into the regular season. While the 2026 first-rounder is unable to practice, added TE reps behind Mason Taylor will be available for Jeremy Ruckert, Jelani Woods and Chase Curtis.

Legette was diagnosed with a stinger after leaving Tuesday's practice early, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.

Legette took a hard fall and was down on the ground for a bit before standing up under his own power and getting on a cart to head to the locker room. He seemingly escaped without a concussion or a major neck injury, though the stinger could impact his practice availability this summer. Legette is competing for the No. 3 receiver job with John Metchie and others.

Rodriguez left practice Tuesday to be evaluated for an ankle injury, Justin Rogers of DetroitFootball.net reports.

Detroit is expected to give an update on the status of Rodriguez prior to practice Wednesday. The 27-year-old played just 70 defensive snaps last season after coming back off of an ACL tear, but was expected to be a starting linebacker for Detroit in 2026 alongside Jack Campbell and Derrick Barnes. Rodriguez signed a one-year deal to return to Detroit this offseason and could prove his ability to handle a full defensive workload if the injury is short-term.

Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik noted Tuesday that Bell (knee) is still "a long way's away," C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.

Bell, who is recovering from a torn ACL suffered during his final collegiate season at Louisville, remains on the active/non-football injury list, but it's unclear when he'll be ready to resume practicing, and missed time early on this season is plausible based on Slowik's assessment. Once Bell is back in the mix, however, he'll have a chance to carve out a notable role in a retooled Miami WR corps that currently features Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell, with rookies Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman also competing for slotting.
