Tatar signed a one-year, $1.8 million contract with New Jersey on Tuesday. Tatar accounted for nine goals, 24 points and 72 shots on net in 70 regular-season contests between Seattle and Colorado in 2023-24. He played for the Devils for two campaigns before signing with the Avalanche, which includes a 20-goal and 48-point showing over 82 regular-season outings in 2022-23. However, he is unlikely to reach those marks in 2024-25 as a depth forward for New Jersey.

Tatar scored a goal and added two hits in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Jets. Tatar got back into the lineup since Eeli Tolvanen (undisclosed) was a surprise scratch before the contest. This was Tatar's third appearance in the Kraken's last 11 outings. The veteran winger snapped a 10-game goal drought and now has nine tallies, 24 points, 70 shots on net, 41 hits and a plus-8 rating through 69 appearances between the Kraken and the Avalanche this season.

Tatar notched an assist in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Stars. Tatar had been scratched for seven of the previous eight games as the Kraken gave some of their prospects a look at the NHL level. He had gone without a point in his last seven appearances before snapping the drought on a Kailer Yamamoto tally in the third period. Tatar's Kraken tenure started strong but has fizzled out quickly. He has 23 points, 69 shots on net, 39 hits and a plus-7 rating over 68 appearances between the Kraken and the Avalanche this season.

Tatar produced an assist, two blocked shots and two PIM in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Golden Knights. Tatar helped out on a Matty Beniers goal in the third period. With a goal and an assist over his last three games, Tatar may be getting his offense back on track. He's benefited from getting back on the top line after a stint in the bottom six over much of February. The winger has 22 points, 61 shots on net, 37 hits and a plus-11 rating through 60 appearances between the Kraken and the Avalanche this season.

Tatar scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Jets. Tatar provided a quick equalizer in the third period, scoring just 25 seconds after Nino Niederreiter gave the Jets a 3-2 lead. The goal was Tatar's first point in 11 games, though he spent much of that stretch on the Kraken's fourth line. The winger has 21 points, 61 shots on net, 35 hits, 16 PIM and a plus-11 rating through 58 contests between the Kraken and the Avalanche this season, though he could be a candidate to be traded again before Friday's deadline.
