Nugent-Hopkins, who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Senators, is dealing with an illness, Bob Stauffer of the Oilers Radio Network reports. Nugent-Hopkins was a late scratch for Sunday's matchup after he wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups, but the Oilers didn't initially disclose the reason for his absence. He's dealing with an illness, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him back in action in the near future since he'll have nearly a week to recover before Edmonton's next game, Saturday against the Kings.

Nugent-Hopkins wasn't on the ice for warmups ahead of Sunday's game against Ottawa, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports, signaling that he won't suit up for an undisclosed reason. Nugent-Hopkins had appeared in the Oilers' first 33 games of the season, racking up six goals, 12 assists, 16 blocked shots, 13 hits and 10 PIM while averaging 19:20 of ice time. It's unclear whether the 31-year-old is dealing with an injury that is preventing him from suiting up, but Derek Ryan will enter the lineup Sunday.

He came up clutch with his helper Thursday, setting up Mattias Ekholm's tally at 1:04 of overtime. Nugent-Hopkins scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Golden Knights. Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring for the Oilers on the power play during the first period, and he later set up Zach Hyman's tally to give the Oilers a two-goal lead. The 31-year-old playmaker has been trending in the right direction. RNH has cracked the scoresheet in seven of his last eight appearances, tallying four goals and four assists in that span.

Nugent-Hopkins scored a power-play goal in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild. Nugent-Hopkins found the back of the net for the third time across his last seven appearances, and this was his first power-play goal this season. The left winger has cracked the scoresheet four times in that aforementioned seven-game stretch, tallying six points (three goals, three assists). Even though he's not expected to reach the productive levels of teammates such as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins should continue to find ample opportunities to produce through his first-line role and spot on the first power-play unit.
