McDavid is expected to miss 2-3 weeks due to an ankle injury, the Oilers announced Wednesday. McDavid was injured Monday with what was initially classified as a lower-body issue. Although his timetable isn't too long in the grand scheme of things, even if he returns Nov. 14 -- which would seem to be about a best-case scenario given his timetable -- that would still cost him six games at a time when Edmonton is struggling offensively with just 2.20 goals per game. McDavid's injury will likely result in either Adam Henrique or Jeff Skinner being elevated from the third line into a top-six role. If Skinner is the one to move up, then Ryan Nugent-Hopkins would probably need to shift to center.

McDavid (lower body) isn't dealing with the worst-case scenario, but he's still expected to miss at least a couple of weeks, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet on Wednesday. McDavid logged just 37 seconds of ice time before he exited Monday's game against Columbus due to the injury. He has three goals and 10 points across 10 appearances this season. Missing McDavid is a huge blow for Edmonton, especially when the Oilers are having a difficult time gelling -- they rank last offensively with just 2.20 goals per game in 2024-25. While McDavid is absent, Adam Henrique might move up to a top-six role, though an alternative solution for Edmonton would be to shift Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to center, which would create an opening for Jeff Skinner to play on the first or second unit after spending time on the third line.

McDavid (lower body) returned to Edmonton for further evaluation and won't suit up Thursday in Nashville, per The Athletic. McDavid sustained the injury on his first shift of Monday's game in Columbus. The Oilers did not provide an update on his status Tuesday, so the severity of the injury remains unknown. His earliest possible return is Sunday versus the Flames, but until the results of his tests are known, it's tough to tell when he might next take the ice.

McDavid will not return to Monday's matchup versus Columbus due to a lower-body injury, according to Bob Stauffer of the Oilers Radio Network. McDavid played just one shift before exiting Monday's road game. The Oilers continue their road trip Thursday when they visit the Predators, so expect an update on McDavid's status to come before then.

McDavid logged two even-strength assists in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over Detroit. McDavid was back on the scoresheet Sunday after snapping a six-game point streak against Pittsburgh on Friday. The superstar forward assisted on both of Leon Draisaitl's tallies, including the winner in overtime. In addition, McDavid added four shots, one hit and a plus-3 rating in 22:49 of ice time. The 27-year-old is tied for the team lead in points with 10 (three goals) through nine outings. McDavid will attempt to start another streak in Monday's road game versus Columbus.
