  • Reichel signed a two-year, $2.4 million contract extension with the Blackhawks on Tuesday. Reichel hasn't really lived up to expectations since being selected 17th overall in the 2020 Entry Draft -- he logged a career-high 65 games at the NHL level in 2023-24, but the 21-year-old forward managed just five goals and 16 points while posting an ugly minus-29 rating over that span. Reichel will likely be a full-time NHLer in 2024-25, but if he doesn't get his game together at the top level soon, he may not last with the Blackhawks beyond this two-year extension.

  • Reichel was sent to AHL Rockford on Friday. Reichel will get in some playoff action at the AHL level -- the Blackhawks failed to make the playoffs. Reichel managed five goals and 11 assists in 65 games with Chicago while scoring one goal and adding six helpers in nine games with the Ice Hogs.

  • Reichel scored a goal in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings. Reichel showed some life late in the season with two goals and three assists over the last nine contests. His tally Thursday opened the scoring. He wraps up with 16 points, 84 shots on net and a minus-29 rating over 65 appearances, mainly in a middle-six role. At 21 years old, there's still time for Reichel to get his scoring touch on track at the NHL level, and he'll have every chance to make the Blackhawks' roster out of training camp in the fall.

  • Reichel notched an assist and two shots on goal in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes. Reichel has four points over his last seven contests while seeing middle-six minutes in that span. The 21-year-old winger is up to 15 points through 63 outings, matching his output from 23 games a year ago. Needless to say, Reichel has not taken the expected next step in 2023-24. He's added 82 shots on net, a minus-30 rating, 25 hits and 25 blocked shots.

  • Reichel picked up a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Flyers. Reichel opened the scoring just 2:01 into the first period, beating Samuel Ersson to the far post on a wraparound for his first NHL goal since Dec. 19. Reichel would add an assist on Joey Anderson's tally in the third, giving the former his first multi-point game this season. Reichel had just one assist in six games following his recall from the AHL on March 17 before Saturday's breakout. Overall, he has four goals and 13 points through 57 NHL outings this season.
