NHL Player News

  • Devils' Nico Hischier: Three points in win

Hischier recorded one power-play goal and two power-play assists in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.

Hischier was the most productive player for the Devils on Thursday, as he was involved directly in three of the team's five goals to record his second multi-point game over his last four appearances. The 26-year-old has been one of the strongest contributors for the Devils this year, logging 42 points across 50 appearances, and he could be on pace to reach the 60-point plateau for the fourth straight season.

  • Bruins' Morgan Geekie: Nets goal vs. New Jersey

Geekie scored a goal in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Devils.

Geekie has been productive in recent weeks and has found the back of the net in three of his last five outings, a stretch in which he's racked up five points (three goals, two helpers). The 26-year-old has surpassed the 30-point mark just once in his career, but he's on pace to do so in 2024-25 and could even deliver career-high numbers across the board if he maintains his production over the second half of the season.

  • Panthers' Anton Lundell: Adds assist on power play

Lundell posted a power-play assist in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Kings.

Lundell reached the 20-assist mark for the fourth time in as many seasons in his career. The 23-year-old set up an Evan Rodrigues tally in the second period. Lundell has been steady lately, earning three goals and five assists over his last 12 outings. For the season, the center has 31 points (six on the power play), 96 shots on net, 79 hits, 36 blocked shots, 24 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 48 contests.

  • Panthers' Evan Rodrigues: Nets lone goal on power play

Rodrigues scored a power-play goal in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Kings.

Rodrigues has four goals and an assist over his last seven outings. He also saw a season-low 9:24 of ice time -- that's likely a byproduct of his current deployment on the fourth line rather than in a more prominent spot in the lineup. The 31-year-old is too talented to be in that role indefinitely. For the season, he's at 22 points (five on the power play) with 91 shots on net, 73 hits and a minus-4 rating through 49 appearances. Rodrigues is best utilized as a middle-six forward, but he'll be tough to trust in fantasy if he's not getting enough playing time.

  • Kings' Samuel Helenius: Nets first NHL tally

Helenius scored a goal in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Panthers.

Helenius had not gotten on the scoresheet since Nov. 16, when he had an assist versus the Red Wings. This was his first NHL goal. He's been a bottom-six player for much of the last two months aside from a four-game stretch of scratches earlier in January. Helenius is up to three points, 16 shots on net, 73 hits, 14 PIM and a minus-2 rating over 25 appearances as a rookie. Helenius may be at risk of losing his spot in the lineup once Alex Laferriere (upper body) can return, or if the Kings return to dressing seven defensemen.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Nets opening goal

MacKinnon scored a goal on seven shots in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Jets.

MacKinnon has four goals and three assists during his current five-game point streak. The tally was his 19th of the season and opened the scoring in the second period. The 29-year-old center leads the NHL with 75 points and has added 189 shots on net, 43 blocked shots, 27 PIM and a plus-17 rating through 49 appearances this season.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Supplies assist Wednesday

Gustafsson recorded an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche.

The helper was Gustafsson's first point of the season. The 24-year-old has played in 17 games, adding 16 shots on net, 13 hits, nine blocked shots, seven PIM and a plus-1 rating. When the Jets are at full health, he might be at risk of sitting out as a healthy scratch, but he should be safe to handle bottom-six minutes while Adam Lowry (upper body) is out of action.

  • Jets' Vladislav Namestnikov: Two helpers in overtime win

Namestnikov notched two assists, two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche.

Namestnikov helped out on Gabriel Vilardi's go-ahead goal in the second period and Neal Pionk's overtime winner. This was Namestnikov's second game back from missing four contests due to a lower-body injury. The 32-year-old center has been limited to three helpers over nine outings since the holiday break. He's at 22 points, 46 shots on net, 56 hits, 31 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a plus-13 rating over 45 appearances this season. Adam Lowry (upper body) is on injured reserve, so Namestnikov is likely to remain on the second line for a while.

  • Jets' Morgan Barron: Pots goal Wednesday

Barron scored a goal in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche.

Barron ended a six-game point drought with a tally that tied the game at 1-1 midway through the second period. The 26-year-old forward might have been at risk of losing playing time since Mason Appleton (lower body) was back in action Wednesday, but Adam Lowry (upper body) landed on injured reserve in a corresponding move. That likely means Barron's fourth-line spot is safe for now unless the Jets want to give Dominic Toninato a look. Barron has been limited to five goals, three assists, 60 shots on net, 78 hits, 31 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 49 appearances.

  • Jets' Gabriel Vilardi: Secures 20-goal season

Vilardi scored a goal on two shots in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche.

Vilardi had to wait a while, but he snapped a six-game goal drought Wednesday to earn his third straight 20-goal campaign. It took him 49 contests to get to that mark after scoring 22 times in 47 appearances last year. Vilardi also has a career-high 42 points this season while adding 92 shots on net and a plus-3 rating. The 25-year-old has mostly played on the top line, but he was shuffled down to the second line for this game, swapping spots with Alex Iafallo.
