Oilers' Connor Brown: Records multi-point effort Thursday

Brown registered a shorthanded goal and an even-strength assist in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.

Brown found the back of the net when the Wild were on the power play less than two minutes into the second period, and his goal gave Edmonton a 3-1 lead. He also set up the final goal in the late stages of the third period, courtesy of a Derek Ryan tip-in. This was Brown's third multi-point effort of the season. However, he hasn't been a consistent source of scoring for the Oilers, and when factoring in his fourth-line role, he shouldn't carry a lot of fantasy upside going forward, even if he turned a few heads with his play in this contest.

  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Two helpers Thursday

McDavid delivered two assists, including one on the power play, in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.

McDavid couldn't extend his goal streak to three games Thursday, but he pushed his point streak to four contests, and he's notched multi-point efforts three times in that span. McDavid's consistency on a game-to-game basis is outstanding, and the star playmaker has recorded two or more points in six of his previous 10 appearances. During that stretch, the 27-year-old has racked up seven goals and 12 assists, with six of those points (two goals, four helpers) coming on the power play.

  • Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Elite outing vs. Minnesota

Draisaitl notched one goal and three assists, including two on the power play, in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Wild.

Draisaitl has been on a tear in recent games. Aside from notching a season-high mark in points for a single game Thursday, the 29-year-old has recorded four consecutive multi-point efforts, and he has multi-point performances in 11 of his previous 15 contests. Across that 15-game stretch, Draisaitl has racked up an impressive 26 points, with 12 goals and 14 assists.

  • Wild's Frederick Gaudreau: Nets power-play goal in loss

Gaudreau scored a power-play goal in Thursday's 7-1 loss to the Oilers.

Gaudreau found the back of the net on the power play for the first time this season, but that was all the offense the Wild could muster in this contest. The goal also snapped a three-game pointless streak for Gaudreau, who's up to six goals and 15 total points across 29 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Predators' Jonathan Marchessault: Two helpers Thursday

Marchessault recorded two assists in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Stars.

The 33-year-old winger helped set up Nashville's first two goals of the night, with the tallies by Ryan O'Reilly and Thomas Novak coming less than two minutes apart midway through the second period. Marchessault has produced back-to-back multi-point performances, but he's struggled to make a consistent impact in his first season for the Predators, managing seven goals and 17 points in 30 games with 92 shots on net, 49 hits, 18 PIM and a minus-8 rating.

  • Predators' Ryan O'Reilly: Carries offense in return

O'Reilly scored two goals and added an assist in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Stars.

The veteran center missed the prior three games with a lower-body injury, but O'Reilly made a big impact in his return, opening the scoring midway through the second period en route to a season high in points. It was his first multi-point performance since Oct. 22, and on the campaign, O'Reilly has seven goals and 17 points in 27 appearances.

  • Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Three helpers against Chicago

Pageau notched three assists in Thursday's 5-4 win over Chicago.

It's the second three-point performance in the last four games for Pageau, but those are his only points so far in December. The veteran forward is still skating in a top-six role, but he's had trouble making a consistent impact with six goals and 16 points in 29 contests on the season.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Bedard: Three points in Thursday's loss

Bedard scored a power-play goal and added two even-strength assists in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders.

The 19-year-old opened the scoring late in the first period with a slick snipe from the slot, and Bedard then nearly sparked a late comeback from a 5-1 deficit by having a hand in tallies by T.J. Brodie and Tyler Bertuzzi in the back half of the third. Bedard had a bit of a sluggish start to the season relative to expectations, but he's come to life over the last couple weeks, racking up three goals and nine points over the last eight contests -- with six of those points (three tallies, three helpers) coming on the power play.

  • Jack Hughes C | NJ

Devils' Jack Hughes: Three points including game-winner

Hughes scored the game-winning goal and added two assists, including one shorthanded, in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kings.

After Ondrej Palat tipped home a Hughes shot late in the second period for the Devils' first tally, Palat returned the favor midway through the third, finding his linemate through traffic to set up the winner. It's Hughes' fifth multi-point performance in the last seven games, a stretch in which the 23-year-old has erupted for four goals and 13 points.

  • Jake Evans C | MON

Canadiens' Jake Evans: Generates assist in loss

Evans had an assist and two hits in Thursday's 9-2 loss to Pittsburgh.

Evans was removed from Montreal's previous game late in the contest after a collision with Anaheim's Mason McTavish, per Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette. Evans needed a few days of therapy to get ready to go Thursday. He smartly took advantage of a Pittsburgh line change in the second period to lead a 3-on-2 rush that resulted in a Joel Armia goal. Evans is up to five goals and 10 assists through 29 outings, a pace that will smash the career-high 13-16-29 line he posted in 2021-22.
