  • Josh Norris C | BUF

Senators' Josh Norris: Helps out on power play

Norris notched a power-play assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Ducks.

Norris got on the scoresheet in consecutive games for the first time since a three-game streak from Nov. 9-14. The center helped out on the second of Drake Batherson's three goals in the game. Norris has been overshadowed by some of the Senators' other forwards, but he's still put up a strong 19 points (eight on the power play) with 56 shots on net, 72 hits, 28 blocked shots, 24 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 28 contests. He had 30 points in 50 regular-season outings last year, so he should be able to surpass that total as long as he stays healthy in 2024-25.

  • Noah Gregor C | FLA

Senators' Noah Gregor: Finds twine in win

Gregor scored a goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Ducks.

Gregor has a goal and an assist over his last two outings after going seven games without a point. During that slump, he missed five games due to an undisclosed injury, which may have affected his productivity even after he returned. The 26-year-old remains in a fourth-line role for the Senators, where he has five points, 33 shots on net, 42 hits and a minus-3 rating over 23 contests.

  • Peyton Krebs C | BUF

Sabres' Peyton Krebs: Gathers assist in loss

Krebs notched an assist and two shots on goal in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers.

Krebs has three helpers over his last three outings. Two of his three highest ice-time totals have come over the last two games, including a season-high 17:10 in this loss, which suggests he's playing a larger role than his fourth-line assignment indicates. Krebs hasn't had much success in 2024-25 with 10 points, 22 shots on net, 48 hits, 15 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 28 appearances, but a major lineup shuffle could be on the way after the Sabres dropped an eighth straight game Wednesday. Given Krebs' recent trends, he could stand to benefit.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Scores late in loss

Thompson scored a goal on five shots in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers.

Thompson has five goals over five games in December, but his tally Wednesday was a little too late to save the Sabres from an eighth straight loss. The 27-year-old is at least productive even if the rest of the team has been lacking lately. The center is up to 16 goals, 23 points, 82 shots on net, 20 hits and a plus-2 rating through 24 appearances in a top-line role.

  • Sam Carrick C | BUF

Rangers' Sam Carrick: Helpers in consecutive contests

Carrick notched an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.

Carrick has a helper in back-to-back contests for the first time this season, a quick turnaround compared to the 11-game drought that preceded this improved stretch. The 32-year-old is up to six points, 24 shots on net, 40 hits, 21 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 28 appearances. He won't put up much for offense, but Carrick's role on the fourth line is stable.

  • Rangers' Vincent Trocheck: Generates helper in win

Trocheck logged an assist, four shots on goal, two hits and five PIM in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.

Trocheck has four goals and four assists over his last seven outings. He got the puck to Adam Fox, who fired home a long-range empty-netter, which ended up being the game-winner in Wednesday's contest. Trocheck is up to 18 points (six on the power play), 71 shots on net, 91 hits, 25 blocked shots, 23 PIM and a minus-3 rating through 28 contests while serving in a top-six role.

  • Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Nets 300th career goal

Zibanejad scored a power-play goal on five shots, added two PIM and logged two hits in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.

The goal was the 300th of Zibanejad's career, and he's not far off from a couple of other milestones. He needs one more point to reach 700 and one more assist for 400 in his career. The center has been playing better of late with two goals and four assists over his last six outings. Overall, Zibanejad is at six tallies, 21 points (seven on the power play), 62 shots on net, 10 PIM and a minus-14 rating over 28 appearances.

  • Senators' Zack Ostapchuk: Leaves game early

Ostapchuk (undisclosed) did not finish Wednesday's game versus the Ducks, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

There was no update on Ostapchuk's status after the game. He had an assist and two hits over 5:41 of ice time Wednesday. If he is unavailable for Friday's game versus the Hurricanes, the Senators will likely need to call up a forward.

  • Kraken's Ryan Winterton: Rises to NHL

Winterton was recalled from AHL Coachella Valley on Wednesday.

The Kraken have a couple of question marks for Thursday's game versus the Bruins in the form of Yanni Gourde (lower body) and Jared McCann (undisclosed). Winterton could be inserted into the lineup if one or both of those forwards are forced to miss a game. Winterton has one assist, six shots on net and nine hits over six appearances at the NHL level this season.

  • Jared McCann C | SEA

Kraken's Jared McCann: Game-time decision for Thursday

McCann didn't practice Wednesday and is considered a game-time decision for Thursday's home matchup against the Bruins due to an undisclosed injury, Kate Shefte of The Seattle Times reports.

McCann's absence from Wednesday's practice was labeled as a maintenance day, but the Kraken are still considering him a game-time decision for Thursday's contest, so he's apparently dealing with an unspecified injury. Yanni Gourde (lower body) is considered doubtful for Thursday, so Seattle may need to call up another skater if McCann is unable to suit up.
