  • Matt Duchene C | DAL

Stars' Matt Duchene: Fills empty cage

Duchene scored an empty-net goal on two shots in Monday's 3-1 win over the Kings.

Duchene's goal at 19:42 of the third period provided some extra security late in the contest for the Stars. He's earned two goals and three helpers over six outings in January after being limited to three points across 11 games in December. The 34-year-old center is up to 10 points, 28 shots on net and a minus-2 rating through 21 outings in a season that's been disrupted by a long-term upper-body injury.

  • Brock Nelson C | COL

Avalanche's Brock Nelson: Finds twine on power play

Nelson scored a power-play goal on four shots and went minus-2 in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

Nelson put the Avalanche ahead 2-1 late in the first period, though Bobby McMann pulled Toronto level in the second. With 13 goals and 20 points over his last 17 games, Nelson has found his groove on the Avalanche's second line and first power-play unit -- he has earned nine of those points with the man advantage. The 34-year-old center is at 22 goals, 38 points (11 on the power play), 98 shots on net, 36 blocked shots, 22 hits and a plus-11 rating through 45 appearances.

  • Bobby McMann C | SEA

Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Pots goal Monday

McMann scored a goal on six shots and added two PIM in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Avalanche.

McMann has slipped back into a fourth-line role, though he still saw 18:06 of ice time after Nicholas Robertson (lower body) exited early. The 29-year-old McMann's versatility is a gift and a curse -- he can play all over the lineup, but there's no top-six spot for him when the team is mostly healthy. He's on a heater with six goals and 10 points over his last 12 outings, giving him 14 goals, 24 points, 90 shots on net, 94 hits, 30 PIM and a plus-5 rating over 44 contests this season.

  • Devils' Nico Hischier: Adds pair of helpers

Hischier notched two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Monday's 5-2 win over the Wild.

Hischier had gone seven games without a helper, earning three goals in that span. The center had a hand in goals by Dawson Mercer and Ondrej Palat across the first two periods of Monday's win. Hischier is at 35 points (11 on the power play), 122 shots on net, 36 hits, 42 blocked shots, 19 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 46 appearances this season.

  • Aatu Raty C | VAN

Canucks' Aatu Raty: Posts helper Monday

Raty notched an assist and four hits in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Canadiens.

Raty ended a 10-game point drought with the helper. The 23-year-old has played regularly in the bottom-six this season, though he was losing playing time in late December prior to Marco Rossi (lower body) landing on injured reserve Jan. 2. Raty is at three goals, a career-high 12 points, 33 shots on net, 88 hits, 18 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 37 appearances.

  • Max Sasson C | VAN

Canucks' Max Sasson: Buries goal in loss

Sasson scored a goal in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Canadiens.

Sasson's goal tied the game at 3-3 midway through the second period, but it was all Montreal in the third. The tally snapped his eight-game point drought. The 25-year-old center is up to nine goals, two assists, 45 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 42 outings as a regular in the Canucks' bottom six.

  • Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Pots opening goal in loss

Pettersson scored a goal on four shots and blocked two shots in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Canadiens.

Pettersson has scored in four of the last eight games, totaling five points in that span. The 27-year-old has been under 19 minutes of ice time in three of the last four contests, which may be something to keep an eye on -- he's the Canucks' top center, and it's not like the team is swimming in the deep end down the middle. For the season, Pettersson is up to 12 goals, 27 points, 76 shots on net, 59 blocked shots, 32 hits and a minus-14 rating over 37 appearances.

  • Nick Suzuki C | MON

Canadiens' Nick Suzuki: Earns pair of assists

Suzuki notched two assists, including one on the power play, and went plus-2 in Monday's 6-3 win over the Canucks.

Suzuki is in a six-game goal drought, matching his longest of the season, but he's still earned five helpers in that span. The 26-year-old center has only one stretch of two contests without a point all season, providing steady offense in a top-line spot. He's earned 50 points (23 on the power play), 99 shots on net, 40 blocked shots, 35 hits and a plus-18 rating over 46 appearances.

  • Canadiens' Oliver Kapanen: Tallies again Monday

Kapanen scored a goal on five shots and went plus-2 in Monday's 6-3 win over the Canucks.

Kapanen has been excellent to start January with five goals and two assists over seven games this month. The 22-year-old center has firmly taken control of a second-line role this season, playing a steady all-around game. He's at 16 goals (most among rookies) and 11 assists while adding 85 shots on net, 46 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating through 46 outings overall.

  • Josh Dunne C | BUF

Sabres' Josh Dunne: Being evaluated for injury

Dunne is being further evaluated by team doctors and could miss some time, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports Tuesday.

Dunne has been in and out of the lineup as a healthy scratch, but it appears that maybe he was dealing with this undisclosed injury as a contributing factor. Even when he has played, the 27-year-old center has struggled to produce offensively with just one goal and three assists in his 28 outings.
