  • Noah Ostlund C | BUF

Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Sent back to AHL

Ostlund has been returned to AHL Rochester, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports Sunday.

Ostlund has been with the Sabres for most of the season, but he has averaged just 12:45 of ice time per night. The 21-year-old has posted six points (three goals, three assists) in 20 games. He'll head to AHL Rochester, where he'll likely play big minutes in all situations and look to add on to his seven points in six AHL games.

  • Wild's Hunter Haight: Sent to minors

Haight was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Sunday.

Haight was called up by Minnesota on Monday, but he didn't appear in any games during his time with the NHL club. He'll head back to the minors since Danila Yurov (undisclosed) was cleared to return to action Saturday against Vancouver.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Unavailable Sunday

Malkin (upper body) won't play against Dallas on Sunday.

Malkin is day-to-day and will miss at least one game. He has accounted for eight goals, 29 points and 66 shots on net over 26 appearances this season. Malkin will be a challenging player to replace in the lineup. However, the Penguins will get Justin Brazeau (upper body) and Noel Acciari (upper body) back in Sunday's matchup against the Stars.

  • Noel Acciari C | PIT

Penguins' Noel Acciari: Back from IR

Acciari has been activated from injured reserve by the Penguins, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports Sunday.

Acciari has missed the last 12 games with an upper-body injury but is set to return to the lineup Sunday against the Stars. Through 13 games, he has three assists, 18 hits, 10 blocked shots and held a plus-3 rating. He will likely resume his role in the bottom six.

  • Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Remains day-to-day

Pageau (upper body) won't play against Florida on Sunday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Pageau is still day-to-day and will miss his eighth straight game. He has collected six goals, 12 points, 22 shots on net, 23 blocked shots and 33 hits across 22 appearances this season. Once healthy, Pageau will probably return to a third-line role.

  • Blackhawks' Anton Frondell: Nets 10th goal of SHL season

Frondell scored a goal in Djurgardens' 3-2 win over Timra IK on Saturday in the SHL.

Frondell has played well this season with 10 goals and five assists over 25 appearances in the SHL. It's his first year in the league, though the 18-year-old will be taking a break from his club team to represent Sweden at the World Junior Championship later this month. Considering he's been playing against men in the SHL all year, he should have a dominant performance at the WJC.

  • Jordan Staal C | CAR

Hurricanes' Jordan Staal: First point since absence

Staal logged an assist in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Predators.

Staal picked up his first point in three games since he missed three contests due to an illness. The 37-year-old's momentum before his absence has faded, but he continues to play a vital on-ice role as the Hurricanes' shutdown center. He's at 10 points, 31 shots on net, 43 hits, 23 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 24 appearances this season.

  • Hurricanes' Logan Stankoven: Produces helper Saturday

Stankoven logged an assist and three shots on goal in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Predators.

Stankoven had gone six games without a point prior to Saturday. The 22-year-old has maintained his second-line role through the slump. He's not yet a consistent point producer, but he's done okay in a balanced offense with 12 points, 58 shots on net and a plus-1 rating over 27 appearances.

  • Connor Zary C | CGY

    Flames' Connor Zary: Adds empty-netter

Zary scored an empty-net goal on two shots and added two hits in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Mammoth.

Zary has scored in each of his last two outings and has four points across his last seven games. The 24-year-old forward has struggled with consistency this season, but he may be getting back on track with this recent stretch. Overall, he's earned four goals, two helpers, 39 shots on net, 22 hits and a minus-3 rating over 28 appearances.

  • Bruins' Fraser Minten: Pots opening goal

Minten scored a goal and added two hits in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Devils.

Minten gave the Bruins a brief initial lead at 17:42 of the first period, though Timo Meier answered less than a minute later. The goal snapped Minten's stretch of 12 contests without one, during which he had just a two-assist performance. The 21-year-old has done enough to hold onto the third-line center job, and he's got room to grow despite the limits of his role. He's at four goals, nine points, 38 shots on net, 64 hits, 22 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in 30 appearances.
