  • Noah Laba C | NYR

Rangers' Noah Laba: Pots first NHL goal

Laba scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Flames.

Laba got in the zone quickly and converted on a pass from Will Cuylle just 10 seconds after Kevin Bahl put the Flames ahead 2-0. The 22-year-old Laba earned his first goal on the play, and he's added two helpers, nine shots on net, nine hits, 10 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating through his first 10 appearances. The rookie forward has held down a bottom-six spot in the lineup, keeping Jonny Brodzinski in the press box most of the time. Laba's playing style is more defensive in nature, so he won't be a big fantasy presence unless his offense grows by leaps and bounds.

  • Flames' Mikael Backlund: Dishes pair of helpers in win

Backlund notched two assists, including one while shorthanded, and posted a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.

Backlund has logged four points over the last two games to help put some life into the Flames' offense. He set up both of Blake Coleman's third-period tallies in Sunday's victory. Backlund is up to two goals, three helpers, 18 shots on net, seven hits, four PIM and a minus-1 rating over 10 outings this season. As a veteran forward, Backlund should remain fairly steady on offense while seeing middle-six minutes, though he's getting minimal power-play time so far this year.

  • Flames' Yegor Sharangovich: Gets first goal of season

Sharangovich scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.

Sharangovich was scratched for a couple of games earlier in the week amid the Flames' team-wide slump. The 27-year-old returned to the lineup Friday, and one game later, he's got his first goal of the campaign. The versatile forward is clearly not a lock to stay in the lineup should his performance remain poor. He's at two points, 12 shots on net, five blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over eight outings this season, mainly in a middle-six role.

  • Nazem Kadri C | COL

Flames' Nazem Kadri: Pair of points in win

Kadri scored a goal on four shots, added an assist, logged two hits and went plus-2 in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.

Kadri secured his first multi-point effort of the season just 9:21 into the game. He scored at the 1:42 mark and then assisted on a Kevin Bahl tally later in the first period. Kadri has scored in back-to-back games and is up to seven points, 27 shots on net, seven hits, eight PIM and a minus-7 rating across 10 appearances. He'll continue to center the top line, putting him in a position to find more success on offense.

  • Flames' Blake Coleman: Bolsters lead with two goals

Coleman scored twice on seven shots and went plus-2 in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.

Coleman had both of the Flames' third-period tallies, with his first goal being on a shorthanded give-and-go with Mikael Backlund. The second tally came at even strength and was also set up by Backlund. While the Flames have struggled to score as a team, Coleman has been a bright spot, earning four points over his last two contests. He's at five tallies, one assist, 28 shots on net, 22 hits, seven blocked shots and a plus-1 rating across 10 outings.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Bedard: Opens scoring in loss

Bedard scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Kings.

Bedard opened the scoring at 7:04 of the first period. He had gone five games without a goal, though he racked up four assists and 17 shots in that span. The 20-year-old is up to three goals, eight points, 25 shots, five hits, 10 PIM and a plus-2 rating over nine appearances this season. Bedard has yet to reach elite status, but his overall game has taken a step up this year, and that's helping the Blackhawks hang around the middle of the Central Division rather than the bottom.

  • Golden Knights' William Karlsson: Nets lone goal

Karlsson scored a goal, fired two shots on net and blocked two attempts in Sunday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Lightning.

Karlsson's tally was the lone twine finder of the weekend for the Golden Knights, who were shut out by the Panthers on Saturday. The 32-year-old center is up to four goals, five points, 20 shots on net and 10 blocks through nine appearances. Karlsson has dealt with injuries each of the last two seasons, with his point total being capped at 29 through 53 regular-season games a year ago. He is already well above the necessary pace to top that mark, and his additional category coverage makes him a solid fantasy option in a majority of league formats.

  • Stars' Brandon Gorzynski: Nets two goals in WHL win

Gorzynski scored twice in WHL Calgary's 3-2 win over Edmonton on Sunday.

Gorzynski's offense has come in bursts this season. He has 10 points on the year, but eight of them have come in three of his nine games. The Stars prospect will need to find a little more consistency as he continues to grow his game, but it's good to see the talent on display in individual outings as well.

  • Oilers' Mattias Janmark: Won't return Sunday

Janmark (undisclosed) will not suit up for Sunday's game in Vancouver.

Janmark has yet to make his 2025-26 debut, and his status for a return to game action is murky at this point. Head coach Kris Knoblauch said Oct. 14 that the veteran forward could be an option for a pair of games Oct. 18 and Oct. 19, so it's unclear if Janmark has suffered a setback in his recovery. Edmonton's next game is Tuesday versus the Mammoth.

  • Jets' Mark Scheifele: Pots power-play tally

Scheifele scored a power-play goal in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Utah.

Scheifele's power-play snipe tied the game late in the second period, but otherwise it was a quiet night for Winnipeg's alternate captain. Through nine games, Scheifele has now racked up eight goals and five assists and he's been blanked in just one outing. His 13 points are currently tied for eighth league wide, and once you factor in the team context of a strong and well-rounded Jets squad, he remains a highly favorable option when Winnipeg looks to get back on track in Minnesota on Tuesday night.
