  • J.T. Miller C | NYR

Rangers' J.T. Miller: Good to go for Opening Night

Miller (lower body) will be in the lineup against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, per Mollie Walker of the New York Post.

Miller missed some time during training camp after suffering an injury at practice, but he was a full participant in Monday's session and will be ready for the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign. Miller should log big minutes for the Rangers as part of the team's top six and first power-play combination.

Rangers' J.T. Miller: Cleared for contact

Miller (lower body) practiced in a regular jersey Monday, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Miller seems to be trending in the right direction ahead of Tuesday's Opening Night matchup with the Penguins. If the 32-year-old center is cleared in time to face Pittsburgh, he figures to slot into a first-line center role as well as logging time with the No. 1 power-play unit. Last season, Miller missed the 30-goal threshold for the first time since 2020-21 but should be capable of returning to that level in 2025-26.

  • Islanders' Calum Ritchie: Placed on non-roster list

Ritchie (lower body) was placed on the non-roster injured list Monday.

Ritchie sustained a lower-body injury during Thursday's preseason game against the Flyers, and the Islanders previously announced that he was expected to miss 1-2 weeks. He was on the roster bubble ahead of the regular season, but his placement on the non-roster injured list suggests that he'll head to AHL Bridgeport once he's back to full health.

  • Oilers' Mattias Janmark: Could miss more than one week

Janmark (undisclosed) is believed to be one or two weeks away from returning, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports Sunday.

Head coach Kris Knoblauch said Friday that Janmark was expected to miss about a week, but it's possible that the 32-year-old forward could be out slightly longer than that. It seems unlikely that he'll be able to suit up for Wednesday's Opening Night matchup against the Flames, but he'll likely be able to return to the ice without missing significant regular-season time.

  • Ethen Frank C | WAS

Capitals' Ethen Frank: Placed on waivers by Washington

Frank was placed on waivers by the Capitals on Sunday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Frank got his first taste of NHL action last year, recording four goals, three assists, 16 blocked shots, 11 hits and six PIM while averaging 10:49 of ice time over 24 regular-season appearances. He'll likely head to AHL Hershey if he clears waivers, but he'll be a candidate to be called up if Washington needs additional depth at some point.

  • Panthers' Jack Studnicka: Lands on waivers Sunday

Studnicka was placed on waivers by the Panthers on Sunday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Studnicka didn't make any regular-season appearances in the NHL last year and will be left off the Opening Night roster for the 2025-26 campaign. He recorded 16 goals, 29 assists and 64 PIM over 72 regular-season appearances with AHL Ontario last year, and he'll likely spend most of this season in the minors.

  • Wild's Tyler Pitlick: Placed on waivers

Pitlick was placed on waivers by the Wild on Sunday.

Pitlick signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Wild during the offseason, but he was unable to earn a spot on the Opening Night roster during training camp. He recorded 21 goals, 25 assists and 34 PIM over 59 regular-season appearances with AHL Providence last year and will likely head to AHL Iowa if he clears waivers.

  • Mammoth's Curtis Douglas: On waivers for AHL assignment

Douglas was placed on waivers by the Mammoth for the purpose of assignment to AHL Tucson, the team announced Sunday.

Douglas has played exclusively with AHL Tucson for the last two seasons. The 25-year-old had 23 points in 63 regular-season appearances in 2024-25, and he is expected to continue to battle there this campaign in an effort to earn an appearance with the Mammoth for the first time.

  • Josh Dunne C | BUF

Sabres' Josh Dunne: Hits waiver wire

Dunne was placed on waivers Sunday to be assigned to AHL Rochester.

Dunne notched 10 goals and 29 points in 68 regular-season games for AHL Rochester in 2024-25. He hasn't earned an NHL point in 16 career regular-season appearances.

  • Alex Steeves C | BOS

Bruins' Alex Steeves: Shifts to waivers

Steeves was placed on waivers Sunday, Belle Fraser of the Bruins' official site reports.

Steeves notched 36 goals and 62 points in 59 regular-season games for AHL Toronto in 2024-25. Assuming he clears waivers, he will head to AHL Providence for the start of the year.
