  • John Hayden C | SEA

Kraken's John Hayden: Lands on waivers

Hayden was put on waivers Sunday for the purpose of assigning him to AHL Coachella Valley.

Hayden collected one goal, two points, 20 shots on net, 19 blocked shots and 44 hits in 20 regular-season games with Seattle in 2024-25. Assuming he clears waivers, he could see NHL action again this campaign.

  • Jets' Cole Perfetti: Considered week-to-week

Perfetti (ankle) is week-to-week and will miss the beginning of the 2025-26 season, per Murat Ates of The Athletic on Sunday.

According to the NHL media site, Winnipeg moved Perfetti to injured reserve. The 23-year-old forward sustained an ankle injury in Friday's preseason finale against Calgary. He compiled 18 goals, 50 points, 143 shots on net and 71 hits across 82 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. With Perfetti unavailable, Nikita Chibrikov could begin the year in a top-six role.

  • Sharks' Cameron Lund: Assigned to AHL

Lund was assigned to AHL San Jose by the Sharks, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports Sunday.

After ending last season playing 11 games with the NHL club -- registering two goals and an assist in those outings -- Lund will begin this campaign in the minors. Assuming he suits up, it will be the first games that he'll play in the AHL; he made the jump right from Northeastern University in the NCAA to the NHL last year.

  • Blackhawks' Anton Frondell: Hat trick in Saturday's win

Frondell scored three goals on six shots in Djurgardens' 5-3 win over Malmo on Saturday.

Frondell helped Djurgardens earn promotion from the second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan last year, collecting 25 points in 29 regular-season games and another seven points in 16 qualification contests. Even with a step up in quality with the team rejoining the SHL, Frondell has elevated his offense early in the year with six goals and two assists over nine contests. He was selected third overall by the Blackhawks back in June, and he's off to a positive start. He's on loan with the Swedish club this year and may get a taste of North American hockey in the spring.

  • Blues' Oskar Sundqvist: Hurt during practice

Sundqvist (lower body) had to be helped off the ice at Sunday's practice, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

According to Korac, there was no update on Sundqvist's status following the session. The 31-year-old forward still needs further evaluation, and his status for Thursday's regular-season opener against Minnesota is questionable at best. If he is unavailable to play, Sundqvist could be replaced in the lineup by Alexandre Texier or Nathan Walker.

  • Penguins' Will Horcoff: Five goals over weekend sweep

Horcoff scored five goals over a pair of wins for the University of Michigan against Mercyhurst University on Friday and Saturday.

Michigan outscored Mercyhurst by a total of 18-1 across the two-game set, and Horcoff's outburst of offense was a big part of the story. He already has more goals in his sophomore season than he had as a freshman in 2024-25 (four goals, 10 points in 18 games). The 18-year-old will thrive in a net-front role and will look to keep piling up goals in 2025-26.

  • Blues' Dalibor Dvorsky: Starting season in AHL

Dvorsky was assigned to AHL Springfield by the Blues, the team announced Sunday.

Dvorsky is one of the Blues' top prospects, but he will at least begin the upcoming season in the AHL. The 20-year-old got into two NHL regular-season games last year, but spent most of the campaign with Springfield, recording 21 goals and 24 assists in 61 regular-season appearances. He will likely be one of the team's top call-up options should injuries strike the forward group.

  • T.J. Tynan C | COL

Avalanche's T.J. Tynan: Back in AHL

Tynan was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Saturday.

As expected, Tynan is back in the AHL after playing in the Avalanche's preseason finale. The 33-year-old is unlikely to see much NHL time this year.

  • Oskar Back C | DAL

Stars' Oskar Back: Dealing with injury

Back didn't play in Saturday's preseason game versus the Avalanche due to an undisclosed injury, freelance beat writer Robert Tiffin reports.

Back's injury may prevent him from being in the Stars' Opening Night lineup Thursday versus the Jets. The 25-year-old forward is likely ticketed for a bottom-six role when healthy, though he may be an occasional healthy scratch. In any case, fantasy managers won't need to track his progress closely this season.

  • Lightning's Zemgus Girgensons: Exits Saturday's game

Girgensons (undisclosed) won't return to Saturday's preseason game versus the Panthers, Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley reports.

Girgensons was hit hard into the boards by Carter Verhaeghe, who was ejected from the contest for the hit. The 31-year-old Girgensons joins a growing list of injured players for the Lightning after a sequence of bruising preseason contests against their in-state rivals. It's unclear if the Latvian forward will be healthy for the regular-season opener Thursday versus the Senators.
