  • Liam Foudy C | NYI

Islanders' Liam Foudy: Waived by Islanders

Foudy was placed on waivers by the Islanders on Friday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Foudy inked a two-way contract with the Islanders in late June after spending most of the 2024-25 campaign at AHL Bridgeport. Assuming he passes through waivers, he'll likely head back to Bridgeport for the start of the 2025-26 season.

  • Sharks' Cameron Lund: Set to play versus Vegas

Lund (upper body) will be in the lineup against the Golden Knights on Friday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

In his brief cameo with the Sharks last year, Lund notched two goals and one assist in 11 contests. While the 2022 second-round pick has shown flashes of his offensive game, he likely will be headed for AHL San Jose to start the upcoming season. Still, if Lund can produce like he did in his junior season at Northeastern University -- 40 points in 37 games -- with the Barracuda, he could earn himself a call-up at some point.

  • Panthers' Aleksander Barkov: Undergoing right knee surgery

Barkov is having surgery to repair a right knee injury Friday and will be sidelined indefinitely, George Richards of Florida Hockey Now reports.

While the team hasn't provided a specific timeline or announced the exact nature of his knee surgery, there is concern that this could end his 2025-26 campaign before it even starts. At this point, Barkov probably isn't worth the risk in re-draft formats and only has value in keeper/dynasty contests, where he can be stashed away for the 2026-27 campaign. With Barkov out, Anton Lundell will likely be pressed into the second-line center role to open the season.

  • Hurricanes' Mark Jankowski: Skating but won't play

Jankowski (undisclosed) was working with the non-game group in a regular jersey Friday but won't be in action versus the Lightning, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Jankowski should still be capable of making the Opening Night roster despite his stint on the sidelines during training camp. Even if the 31-year-old center does make the team, he is unlikely to offer much in the way of fantasy value given his limited offensive upside and the fact that he could serve as a healthy scratch periodically.

  • Golden Knights' Pavel Dorofeyev: Ruled out Friday

Dorofeyev (lower body) skated Thursday but won't be in the lineup to face the Sharks on Friday, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Dorofeyev is coming off a career year with the Knights last season in which he generated 35 goals, 17 helpers and 17 power-play points in 82 games -- all of which were career highs. With the addition of Mitch Marner, the 24-year-old Dorofeyev could find himself dropped to a third-line role, which may limit his chances of repeating these numbers in 2025-26.

  • Kirby Dach C | MON

Canadiens' Kirby Dach: Good to play Thursday

Dach (knee) will play in Thursday's preseason game against Toronto, per the NHL media site.

Dach didn't play past Feb. 22 during the 2024-25 campaign due to a knee injury. He should open the upcoming season in a top-six capacity, potentially on the second line alongside Patrik Laine and Ivan Demidov.

  • Kraken's Chandler Stephenson: Considered day-to-day

Head coach Lane Lambert said Thursday that Stephenson (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day, Alison Lukan of the Kraken Hockey Network reports.

Stephenson sustained an undisclosed injury during Tuesday's preseason game against the Flames, but it doesn't appear as though he's facing a long-term absence. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to game action, but it seems possible that he'll be back to full health in time for Opening Night against the Ducks on Oct. 9.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Doubtful against Knights

Celebrini hasn't been taking contact at practice, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports, indicating he's unlikely to feature versus Vegas on Friday.

Celebrini has been on the ice for practice the last few days, but it seems he's not cleared for full contact, as he is sitting out certain drills. For now, fantasy managers probably don't need to worry about the 19-year-old center missing Opening Night against the Golden Knights on Oct. 9, but it is something to keep an eye on throughout the rest of training camp.

  • Panthers' Aleksander Barkov: Seeing doctors Thursday

Barkov will get checked out by doctors Thursday after suffering a leg injury in practice earlier in the day,

Barkov was down on the ice for several minutes after being hit in practice. Barkov needed help off the ice as he was unable to apply much weight on his right leg. The 30-year-old had 20 goals and 51 assists across 67 regular-season contests in 2024-25 and was a stud in the playoffs with six goals and 22 points in 23 contests.

  • Jack McBain C | UTA

Mammoth's Jack McBain: Ruled out Thursday

McBain (undisclosed) will not play Thursday in Vegas, Brogan Houston of Deseret News Sports reports.

McBain was injured Sunday against the Avalanche. The 25-year-old played all 82 regular-season games in 2024-25, scoring 13 times while adding 14 assists. He finished sixth in the NHL in hits with 291 last season. McBain has five days to get healthy as the Mammoth next play Tuesday against the Kings.
