  • Blue Jackets' Denton Mateychuk: Deposits goal in win

Mateychuk scored a goal and blocked three shots in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Oilers.

Mateychuk fired back after the Oilers tied the game at 2-2 in the middle of the second period, answering a Leon Draisaitl goal just 30 seconds later. Mateychuk has four points over his last six games and has looked decent in a top-four role for the bulk of this season. He's at four goals, seven points, 17 shots on net, 13 hits, 30 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 16 appearances. He won't score goals at this pace all year, but he should have no trouble surpassing his 13-point output from 45 games as a rookie last year.

  • Troy Stecher D | TOR

Oilers' Troy Stecher: Placed on waivers Friday

Stecher was put on waivers by the Oilers on Friday.

Stecher will be sent to AHL Bakersfield if he passes through waivers. The 31-year-old defenseman has yet to acquire a point in six NHL games this season. He has been a healthy scratch on 13 occasions in 2025-26.

  • Stars' Ilya Lyubushkin: Chips in with assist

Lyubushkin logged an assist, two hits, two blocked shots and seven PIM in Thursday's 7-0 win over the Canadiens.

Lyubushkin was one of 15 Stars skaters to get on the scoresheet in this big win. The 31-year-old blueliner hasn't been a big factor on offense this season, but he has two helpers over his last four games. For the year, he's at three assists, nine shots on net, 21 hits, 32 blocked shots, 17 PIM and a minus-1 rating over 16 appearances. Once Nils Lundkvist (lower body) is healthy, Lyubushkin may not be an everyday player in the lineup.

  • Stars' Alex Petrovic: Gets in on goal party

Petrovic scored a goal, blocked three shots and went plus-5 in Thursday's 7-0 win over the Canadiens.

The Stars dominated the contest, and Petrovic was able to get a season-high 18:51 of ice time as the team rested its key players later in the contest. The goal was his first in the NHL since the 2017-18 regular season when he was with the Panthers, though he did score once during the Stars' playoff run this past spring. The 33-year-old defenseman is up to four points, 17 shots on net, 24 hits, 16 blocked shots, 21 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 16 appearances, and he looks to be a lock for third-pairing minutes at least until Nils Lundkvist (lower body) is healthy.

  • Esa Lindell D | DAL

Stars' Esa Lindell: Adds goal in big win

Lindell scored a goal and blocked two shots in Thursday's 7-0 win over the Canadiens.

Lindell ended a nine-game point drought with the second-period tally, which put the Stars ahead 2-0. The 31-year-old will have some lengthy slumps on offense, but his defensive work will keep his ice time high. Lindell is at two goals, five points, 17 shots on net, 12 hits, 32 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating over 18 appearances as a top-four regular on the Stars' blue line.

  • Red Wings' Axel Sandin-Pellikka: Finds twine in win

Sandin-Pellikka scored a goal and blocked two shots in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Ducks.

The goal was a positive, but Sandin-Pellikka appeared to be benched later in the contest, logging a season-low 13:43 of ice time. Given the tough opponent, it makes sense for head coach Todd McLellan to take a cautious approach while playing with a lead. Sandin-Pellikka has handled top-four minutes a majority of the time this season, logging five points, 21 shots on net, 20 blocked shots, eight PIM and a minus-9 rating over 17 appearances.

  • Wild's Jake Middleton: Deemed game-time call for Saturday

Middleton (illness) is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup against the Ducks, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Middleton has missed Minnesota's last two games due to an illness. Head coach John Hynes said Friday that Middleton is still dealing with some effects of the illness, so the team's medical staff will evaluate him further Saturday before determining his status against Anaheim. If Middleton is unable to play, David Jiricek will likely remain in the lineup for a third consecutive game.

  • Quinn Hughes D | MIN

Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Game-time call Friday

Hughes (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision versus the Hurricanes on Friday, Dan Murphy of Sportsnet reports.

Hughes is currently stuck in a 10-game goal drought but has racked up six helpers in his last four outings, including a pair with the man advantage. If the blueliner does miss out against the Canes, it would likely mean increased ice time for Tom Willander, who could also be a candidate to move up to the No. 1 power-play unit.

  • Will Borgen D | NYR

Rangers' Will Borgen: Not practicing Friday

Borgen suffered an upper-body injury, likely in Tampa Bay on Wednesday and was unable to attend practice Friday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic reports.

Borgen is questionable for Saturday's tilt in Columbus. He scored his first goal of the season Wednesday and has two assists over 18 appearances. Should Borgen miss Saturday's game, look for Matthew Robertson to enter the lineup.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Big night on power play

Seider scored a goal and added an assist, both on the power play, in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Ducks.

The 24-year-old blueliner opened the scoring early in the second period by sneaking a shot through traffic past Lukas Dostal. It was Seider's first power-play goal and first multi-point performance of the season, a welcome flicker of life after a sluggish start that has seen him produce just two goals and eight points in 17 games.
