Ville Heinola D | WPG
Jets' Ville Heinola: Lands on waivers
Heinola was placed on waivers by the Jets on Sunday, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Heinola made a career-high 18 regular-season appearances for the Jets last year and recorded an assist, 16 blocked shots, eight hits and four PIM while averaging 14:11 of ice time. He'll presumably head to AHL Manitoba if he clears waivers, but it seems possible that he'll be called up by Winnipeg at some point this year if the Jets need additional depth.

Calen Addison D | NJ
Devils' Calen Addison: Waived Sunday
Addison was placed on waivers by New Jersey on Sunday.
Addison had five goals and 36 points in 62 AHL regular-season games between Henderson and Springfield in 2024-25. If he clears waivers, he will begin the upcoming campaign with AHL Utica.

Kevin Korchinski D | CHI
Blackhawks' Kevin Korchinski: Dropped to AHL
Korchinski was assigned to AHL Rockford on Sunday.
Korchinski contributed one goal, one assist, 14 shots on net and 14 blocked shots in 16 appearances with Chicago during the 2024-25 regular season. He will be a top call-up option for the team this campaign if reinforcements on the blue line become necessary.

Ryan Ellis D | CHI
Sharks' Ryan Ellis: Acquired from Philly via trade
Ellis (back) was acquired by the Sharks along with a conditional sixth-round draft pick from the Flyers in exchange for Carl Grundstrom and Artem Guryev, the team announced Sunday.
Ellis hasn't played in the NHL since the 2021-22 season and will likely not play at all moving forward because of his injury problems. The 34-year-old has two years remaining on an eight-year, $50 million contract that the Sharks will now take on with this move.

Matt Grzelcyk D | CHI
Blackhawks' Matt Grzelcyk: Earns one-year deal
Grzelcyk signed a one-year, $1 million contract with Chicago on Sunday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Grzelcyk attended training camp with the Blackhawks on a professional tryout agreement and earned a standard contract before the start of the 2025-26 campaign. The 31-year-old blueliner supplied one goal, 39 assists, 94 shots on net and 101 blocked shots across 82 regular-season games with Pittsburgh in 2024-25. Grzelcyk will likely have a depth role with the Blackhawks this campaign, which could result in a decrease in his offensive numbers.

Victor Soderstrom D | BOS
Bruins' Victor Soderstrom: Sent to AHL
Soderstrom was assigned to AHL Providence on Sunday.
Soderstrom had nine goals and 37 points across 49 regular-season games for Brynas IF of the SHL in 2024-25. The 24-year-old blueliner could be among the top call-up options for Boston during the 2025-26 campaign.

Janis Moser D | TB
Lightning's J.J. Moser: Hearing with Player Safety
Moser has a hearing scheduled for his role in an altercation during Saturday's preseason game against the Panthers, according to the NHL Department of Player Safety on Sunday.
That exhibition clash ended with 312 PIM and 16 players ejected, with Moser among them. The infraction being looked at for the 25-year-old was a boarding penalty on Jesper Boqvist. Any suspension would hold out Moser, expected to play a top-four role with the Lightning this season, for the start of the campaign.

Alex Vlasic D | CHI
Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Will be on road trip
Vlasic (lower body) will travel with the Blackhawks ahead of Tuesday's season opener versus the Panthers, Tracey Myers of NHL.com reports.
Vlasic, as expected, did not participate in the remainder of the preseason after getting cut by a skate last Sunday during a game versus the Wild. The defenseman is targeting an Opening Night return, and his presence on the road trip suggests that it's still possible. Vlasic figures to fill a top-four role this season but may not get as much power-play time if Sam Rinzel and Artyom Levshunov can keep their spots in the lineup.

Matt Roy D | WAS
Capitals' Matt Roy: Exits with upper-body injury
Roy sustained an upper-body injury Saturday versus the Blue Jackets and will be evaluated further, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
The Capitals also lost Dylan McIlrath (lower body) in Saturday's contest, leaving their defense potentially thinned out before the start of the regular season. More information on Roy's status should be available before the Capitals' first regular-season game Wednesday against the Bruins.

Gagne was up with the big club for Saturday's preseason finale. Barring a standout performance in the AHL, the 23-year-old figures to spend most of 2025-26 with the Eagles.
