    Jets' Neal Pionk: Inks six-year extension

    Pionk signed a six-year, $42 million contract extension with the Jets on Thursday.

    Pionk has spent the last six seasons in Winnipeg, and his extension will keep him under contract with the team through the 2030-31 campaign. He made 69 appearances for the Jets during the 2024-25 regular season, recording 10 goals, 29 assists, 114 hits and 101 blocked shots while averaging 22:04 of ice time.

  • Panthers' Gustav Forsling: Ready for the playoffs

    Forsling (rest) will be back in the lineup for Game 1 versus Tampa Bay, per Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site.

    Forsling sat out Tuesday's regular-season finale versus Tampa Bay. He finished the 2024-25 regular season with 11 goals, 20 assists, 83 hits and 89 blocked shots over 80 outings.

  • Sharks' Jimmy Schuldt: Reassigned to AHL

    Schuldt was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Thursday.

    Schuldt spent the final few days of the NHL regular season with the Sharks, and he was held without a point while logging three hits and two blocked shots over two appearances. Now that the Sharks have concluded their regular season, Schuldt will return to the minors to play for the Barracuda during the AHL playoffs.

    Islanders' Ryan Pulock: Unavailable Thursday

    Pulock (undisclosed) will miss Thursday's contest in Columbus, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.

    Pulock ends the season with five goals, 18 assists, 100 hits and 155 blocked shots over 74 regular-season games. He'll presumably be back to full health by the start of training camp in September.

    Islanders' Adam Pelech: Not playing Thursday

    Pelech (undisclosed) will sit out Thursday's season finale in Columbus, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

    Pelech was in the concussion protocol prior to Tuesday's tilt against Washington, and while he logged 18:06 of ice time, he could still be dealing with some effects. Pelech had 21 assists and 87 blocked shots over 60 games in 2024-25.

    Senators' Nick Jensen: Slated to return Thursday

    Jensen (rest) is expected to return for Thursday's regular-season finale against Carolina.

    Jensen has been out of the lineup in the last two games due to rest purposes, but he should have one more chance to get on the ice before the start of the playoffs. The 34-year-old has made 70 appearances for the Senators this year, racking up three goals, 18 assists, 89 blocked shots and 55 hits while averaging 20:14 of ice time.

  • Senators' Jake Sanderson: Playing Thursday

    Sanderson (rest) will return to the lineup versus Carolina on Thursday.

    Sanderson sat out Tuesday against the Blackhawks. He is turning into one of the top offensive blueliners in the NHL, as the 22-year-old has 11 goals and 44 assists, including 28 points on the power play, over 79 games this season.

  • Senators' Thomas Chabot: Won't play Thursday

    Chabot has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Hurricanes for rest purposes, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

    Chabot has recorded points in each of his last six appearances, racking up three goals, seven assists, seven blocked shots and four hits while averaging 23:05 of ice time across that span. He participated in Thursday's morning skate but will be kept off the ice for the Senators' regular-season finale, presumably to give him additional rest ahead of the playoffs.

    Senators' Artem Zub: Sitting out Thursday

    Zub (rest) will not play versus Carolina on Thursday, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

    The 29-year-old defenseman will be given the night off as the Senators are locked in to the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and will play Toronto in the opening round. Zub has two goals, 11 assists, 118 blocked shots and 58 hits over 56 games this season. Look for Travis Hamonic to rejoin the lineup in place of Zub.

  • Maple Leafs' Oliver Ekman-Larsson: Not playing Thursday

    Ekman-Larsson (upper body) will miss his fourth consecutive game Thursday in Detroit, according to Luke Fox of Sportsnet.

    The good news is that head coach Craig Berube thinks that Ekman-Larsson will be available for Game 1 of the playoffs versus Ottawa on Sunday. Ekman-Larsson has four goals and 25 assists with 108 hits and 83 blocked shots over 77 regular-season appearances in 2024-25.
