Miro Heiskanen D | DAL
Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Leaves game after collision
Heiskanen (lower body) left Tuesday's game versus the Golden Knights after a collision with Mark Stone in the third period. There was no update on Heiskanen's status after the contest, Brien Rea of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports.
Stone appeared to lose his footing when diving in for a poke-check, colliding with Heiskanen's left leg, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic. Heiskanen had trouble getting off the ice, so there's a realistic chance that this injury will cost him games. The Stars may go back to a regular six-defensemen lineup if Heiskanen is out, or they could keep Brendan Smith in the lineup at forward while having Nils Lundkvist pick up bottom-four minutes and power-play time.

Seth Jones D | FLA
Blackhawks' Seth Jones: Six-game, nine-point streak
Jones had two assists Tuesday in a 4-1 win over the Lightning.
Jones has nine points (two goals, seven assists) during a six-game personal point streak dating to Jan. 13. He missed one game with an illness during that stretch. Jones has really picked up his game this season and has 23 points (12 with the man advantage), including 18 assists, in 33 games. Jones offers sneaky fantasy value, as long as you can accommodate his plus-minus risk (minus-9).

Tyson Barrie D | CGY
Flames' Tyson Barrie: Enters lineup, earns helper
Barrie logged an assist, two shots on goal and two PIM in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.
Barrie recently completed a conditioning stint with AHL Calgary. It was needed -- he hadn't played since Nov. 12, but he drew into the lineup Tuesday due to the absence of Kevin Bahl (undisclosed). Barrie is now at three points, 14 shots on net, nine hits, eight blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 10 appearances. It's unclear if the 33-year-old will stick in the lineup over Daniil Miromanov, and the Flames have also occasionally scratched Jake Bean and Joel Hanley to keep up the competition for third-pairing minutes.

Alexander Alexeyev D | PIT
Capitals' Alexander Alexeyev: Has no path to playing time
Alexeyev was scratched for the 37th consecutive game in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
Barring a number of injuries on the blue line, it doesn't look like Alexeyev will be getting into the lineup. The 25-year-old has made just five appearances this season. The Capitals may not want to lose the 2018 first-round pick on waivers, but the NHL's top team has avoided messing with a good thing on defense, leaving Alexeyev to stay with the big club with little chance to play.

Trevor van Riemsdyk D | WAS
Capitals' Trevor van Riemsdyk: Posts helper Tuesday
Van Riemsdyk notched an assist, two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
Van Riemsdyk earned his second helper over the last three contests. While he plays a shutdown role in the Capitals' bottom four, he often isn't very physical -- he had not been credited with a hit since Dec. 6 versus the Maple Leafs and has just seven hits this season. He's added 15 helpers, one more than he had over 70 contests in 2023-24, as well as 100 blocks, 55 shots on net and a plus-19 rating.

Jakob Chychrun D | WAS
Capitals' Jakob Chychrun: Logs power-play assist
Chychrun provided a power-play assist in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
Chychrun is rolling in January with eight points over 13 outings, including four power-play points. He helped out on a Dylan Strome tally in the second period. The 26-year-old Chychrun is up to 33 points (12 on the power play), 105 shots on net, 55 blocked shots, 30 PIM and a plus-21 rating through 45 outings overall.

John Carlson D | ANA
Capitals' John Carlson: Helps out on power play
Carlson registered a power-play assist and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
Carlson set up Dylan Strome's second-period tally, which was the game-winner. With a goal and three helpers over his last eight contests, Carlson continues to chip in decent offense. This was his first power-play point since Dec. 31 versus the Bruins. The 35-year-old blueliner is up to 30 points (10 on the power play), 104 shots on net, 87 blocked shots and a plus-17 rating across 50 appearances.

Kaiden Guhle D | MON
Canadiens' Kaiden Guhle: Needs further evaluation
Guhle suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday's game versus the Jets and will require further evaluation, Stu Cowan of The Montreal Gazette reports.
Guhle caught a rut and fell awkwardly in the third period. The 23-year-old is a big part of the Canadiens' top four and would be a big loss if he's out for any length of time. Jayden Struble is likely to enter the lineup if Guhle is unavailable for Thursday's game against the Wild.

Brandon Carlo D | TOR
Bruins' Brandon Carlo: Not playing Tuesday
Carlo (illness) won't play against Buffalo on Tuesday, per Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe.
Carlo was absent from Tuesday's morning skate and will miss at least one game. He has accounted for one goal, six assists, 52 shots on net, 103 blocked shots and 52 hits through 51 appearances this season. Jordan Oesterle will replace Carlo in Tuesday's lineup.

Mikhail Sergachev D | UTA
Hockey Club's Mikhail Sergachev: Game-time call versus Pens
Sergachev (upper body) will be a game-time decision against Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports.
Sergachev has been out of action for Utah's last five outings but appears to be nearing a return to the lineup. While the blueliner is stuck in a 13-game goal drought, he has picked up seven helpers over that stretch while averaging 26:01 of ice time. Once given the all-clear, Sergachev should retake his spot on the top pairing in addition to a No. 1 power-play role.
