  • Hockey Club's Nick DeSimone: Earns helper in team debut

DeSimone logged an assist in Friday's 2-1 win over the Sharks.

DeSimone spent the first three months of the campaign in the Devils' organization. He was waived Jan. 4, but Utah claimed him to replace losing Dakota Mermis to Toronto on waivers a couple of days earlier. DeSimone made his Utah and season debuts Friday, logging 14:00 of ice time in a third-pairing role. Prior to this season, the 30-year-old defenseman had seven points and 38 NHL appearances to his name. He's unlikely to score enough to be a factor in fantasy.

  • Olli Maatta D | CGY

Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Registers assist Friday

Maatta logged an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Friday's 2-1 win over the Sharks.

Maatta has three helpers over his last four games, with his January point total already equal to what he did in December. The 30-year-old defenseman is at eight helpers, 33 shots on net, 78 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating over 38 appearances between Utah and Detroit this season. Maatta continues to play significant minutes for Utah as a shutdown blueliner, and that extra ice time has helped him get involved on offense occasionally.

  • Kings' Jacob Moverare: Picks up helper Friday

Moverare notched an assist, three hits and two blocked shots in Friday's 2-1 overtime win over the Jets.

Moverare has logged a helper in three of his last four games. He also saw 19:11 of ice time Friday, far and away the most he's logged in any one contest this season. He's at four helpers, 16 shots on net, 21 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating over 21 appearances. Moverare's place in the lineup is likely to be safe until both of Joel Edmundson (undisclosed) and Drew Doughty (ankle) are cleared to play.

  • Kings' Brandt Clarke: Sets up game-winner

Clarke notched an assist in Friday's 2-1 overtime win over the Jets.

The Kings dressed seven defensemen again Friday, but with Joel Edmundson (undisclosed) out, it looked like head coach Jim Hiller really only trusted five of his blueliners. Clarke is firmly in that group, as evidenced by his presence on the ice in overtime when he set up Adrian Kempe for the game-winning goal. Clarke has six helpers over his last 10 outings and is now at 22 points, 79 shots on net, 68 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating through 39 appearances this season.

  • Nolan Allan D | SJ

Blackhawks' Nolan Allan: Contributes helper in loss

Allan provided an assist, three hits and three blocked shots in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Red Wings.

Allan ended an eight-game point drought when he set up the first of Teuvo Teravainen's two goals in the third period. The 21-year-old Allan continues to stick in the lineup, but he's been limited to the third pairing. He has seven points, 12 shots on net, 14 PIM, 45 hits, 31 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating across 35 outings, which isn't enough production in any area to be helpful in most fantasy formats.

  • Justin Holl D | STL

Red Wings' Justin Holl: Snags assist Friday

Holl registered an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 5-3 win over the Blackhawks.

Holl has two helpers over four contests in January. The 32-year-old blueliner hasn't typically generated much offense, picking up just five points with 14 shots on net and a minus-3 rating over 33 appearances. He's added 19 hits and 39 blocked shots. Holl's spot in the lineup appears to be safe until Jeff Petry (undisclosed) is ready to be activated from injured reserve.

  • Red Wings' Erik Gustafsson: Pockets helper Friday

Gustafsson logged an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 5-3 win over the Blackhawks.

Gustafsson set up Andrew Copp's third-period tally. The helper was Gustafsson's fourth point over his last six games, though he had been held off the scoresheet in the previous two contests. The 32-year-old has been scratched just once since the start of December, and it hasn't happened since Todd McLellan replaced Derek Lalonde as head coach. Gustafsson is at nine points, 40 shots on net, 23 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating over 33 appearances in a bottom-four role.

  • Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Assists in consecutive contests

Edvinsson notched an assist in Friday's 5-3 win over the Blackhawks.

Edvinsson has picked up a helper in each of the last two contests after going four games without a point. The defenseman was back over the 20-minute mark for ice time after logging just 18:15 on Tuesday versus the Senators. Edvinsson has emerged as a reliable top-four blueliner this season, earning 16 points, 45 shots on net, 68 blocked shots, 37 hits and a plus-4 rating over 37 appearances.

  • Red Wings' Albert Johansson: First career goal is game-winner

Johansson scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Friday's 5-3 win over the Blackhawks.

Johansson has played in three straight games, filling in for Jeff Petry (undisclosed), who is on injured reserve. The 24-year-old Johansson has been a part-time player as a rookie in 2024-25. His tally Friday was his first career goal and second point over 20 appearances, and it stood as the game-winning tally. He's added just 17 shots on net, 26 blocked shots, 15 hits and a minus-7 rating in a bottom-four role when he plays.

  • Capitals' Jakob Chychrun: Pots power-play goal

Chychrun scored a power-play goal on one shot and blocked two shots in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens.

Chychrun made Jake Evans pay for a bad turnover in the Montreal end and beat Jakub Dobes low to the glove side to give Washington a 1-0 lead in the first period. The tally was the seventh for the top-pair defenseman, who is rolling with three goals and five assists over the last eight outings. Chychrun is up to 29 points, including four on the power play, through 37 appearances.
