  • Capitals' Logan Thompson: Can't hold late lead Monday

Thompson turned aside 24 of 28 shots in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers, with Florida's final goal getting scored into an empty net.

The Capitals grabbed a 3-2 lead early in the third period, but Thompson couldn't make it stick. The 28-year-old netminder has lost three of his last four starts, and through 10 outings in December, he's managed a 4-4-2 record with a 2.76 GAA and a .914 save percentage.

  • Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Nabs another win Monday

Bussi stopped 17 shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.

The rookie netminder continues to shine in Carolina's stingy defensive system. Bussi's only regulation loss this season occurred Oct. 25, and since then, he's gone 11-0-1 with a 2.02 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Pyotr Kochetkov (hip) is headed for what's expected to be season-ending surgery, so Bussi is in line to handle an even bigger workload the rest of the campaign, with erratic and fragile veteran Frederik Andersen backing him up.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Falls to Canes in OT

Shesterkin made 31 saves in Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.

Two of the pucks to get past Shesterkin came on Carolina power plays, including Jackson Blake's winner with just 13 seconds left in the extra frame. The star netminder heads towards the new year with a 6-3-2 record, 2.58 GAA and .907 save percentage over 11 starts in December.

  • Joel Hofer G | STL

Blues' Joel Hofer: Solid effort in loss

Hofer turned aside 30 of 33 shots on goal in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.

Hofer tended a decent game through the first two periods, as he helped the Blues tie the Sabres through 40 minutes before Buffalo's Zach Benson netted the go-ahead goal less than two minutes into the third. Following Monday's loss, Hofer now has an 8-8-2 record with a 2.87 GAA and a .901 save percentage through 22 outings this season. Despite having his three-game winning streak snapped in Monday's loss, the 25-year-old goalie has managed to turn around the outlook on his season over the past month. Since Nov. 29, he has thrived with a 6-3-0 record, a 1.98 GAA and a .931 save percentage across 11 appearances. As he continues to see the bulk of the workload in net for St. Louis during Jordan Binnington's struggles with consistency, Hofer is back on the fantasy radar and can be safely streamed in most league formats for the time being.

  • Alex Lyon G | BUF

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Win streak up to seven

Lyon stopped 16 of 18 shots on goal in Monday's 4-2 win over the Blues.

Outside of a tough first period where he allowed two goals, Lyon shut down the Blues to help guide the Sabres to their ninth consecutive win. With Monday's victory, he is up to a 10-6-3 record with a .906 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA through 21 appearances this season. The 33-year-old netminder has been a large part of the Sabres' recent success and used Monday's victory to raise his own win streak to seven straight appearances. A very small list of goalies are currently playing better than Lyon, who has a .919 save percentage and a 2.22 GAA during the team's win streak. He is a top waiver-wire add in all fantasy formats, and his next chance to take the ice is Wednesday in Dallas.

  • Joey Daccord G | SEA

Kraken's Joey Daccord: Falls short in shootout

Daccord stopped 22 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Canucks.

Daccord wasn't able to earn a third straight win, but this was his third game in a row allowing just two goals. The Kraken's offense went quiet after scoring twice in the first period, and Daccord couldn't make their 2-1 lead last. The 29-year-old goalie is now 10-9-5 on the year with a 2.77 GAA and a .903 save percentage, though his play has been trending in the right direction lately. The Kraken have another back-to-back ahead, as they host the Predators on Thursday before visiting the Canucks on Friday.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Earns another shootout win

Lankinen stopped 37 of 39 shots in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Kraken.

This was Lankinen's second shootout win in a row since he snapped a six-game losing streak. He's allowed six goals on 82 shots over his last two outings, as the Canucks' defense isn't making life any easier for him. The Finnish netminder is now 6-10-3 with a 3.41 GAA and an .885 save percentage over 19 appearances this season. Thatcher Demko is likely to start Tuesday versus the Flyers, but Lankinen should get one of the two games after that, either Friday in a home rematch versus the Kraken or Saturday against the Bruins.

  • Petr Mrazek G | ANA

Ducks' Petr Mrazek: Takes loss in relief appearance

Mrazek allowed a goal on four shots in relief of Lukas Dostal in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Sharks.

Mrazek ended up stuck with the loss after allowing a third-period goal to Zack Ostapchuk. Over two relief outings since returning from a lower-body injury, Mrazek has allowed five goals on 22 shots. He hasn't done enough to push the struggling Dostal for playing time, and if both goalies continue to falter, Ville Husso could get a look in the crease for the Ducks. Looking ahead, the Ducks' next game is Wednesday versus the Lightning, but it's not yet clear which goalie will get the nod for that one.

  • Lukas Dostal G | ANA

Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Struggles persist Monday

Dostal allowed four goals on nine shots in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Sharks.

Dostal was able to avoid the loss since the Ducks covered his damage, but this was another ugly outing for the 25-year-old. He's given up 19 goals on just 92 shots over his last five contests, going 1-3-0 in that span. A heavy workload could be part of the problem, but Petr Mrazek, who stopped three of four shots in relief Monday, hasn't been good enough to challenge Dostal for playing time. Dostal remains at 13-9-1 with a 3.12 GAA and an .889 save percentage. The Ducks' homestand has a couple more hard games ahead, as they'll face the Lightning on Wednesday and the Wild on Friday before heading east for a four-game trip.

  • Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Fends off Ducks

Askarov stopped 38 of 42 shots in Monday's 5-4 win over the Ducks.

It wasn't the prettiest performance, but Askarov was able to hold off the Sharks' in-state rivals in a thrilling game between two teams on the rise. This was Askarov's second win in a row, though he gave up three-plus goals for a ninth straight outing. He's up to a 14-10-1 record, but his GAA rose to 3.38 with an .898 save percentage over 25 starts. The 23-year-old continues to function as the Sharks' top goalie, and it looks like head coach Ryan Warsofsky is going to let Askarov play through his recent struggles. The Sharks have another big test coming up when they host the Wild on Wednesday in a New Year's Eve matinee game.
