  • Jiri Patera G | VAN

Canucks' Jiri Patera: Demoted to Abbotsford

Patera was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Saturday.

Patera was the backup goaltender in both games this week. He has made only one appearance at the NHL level this season, and it was not pretty, as he allowed seven goals on 40 shots in an 8-5 loss to Florida. Look for Kevin Lankinen to return to the lineup Saturday after missing a pair of games due to personal reasons.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Starting again Saturday

Shesterkin will patrol the home crease against Tampa Bay on Saturday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic reports.

Shesterkin will play for the second time in two days after stopping 19 shots in Friday's 6-2 win over Boston. He has allowed only six goals on 80 shots while winning his last three outings. Shesterkin has a 10-8-2 record this season with a 2.45 GAA and a .911 save percentage through 20 appearances. Tampa Bay ranks seventh in the league with 3.33 goals per game this campaign.

  • Cam Talbot G | DET

Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Between pipes Saturday

Talbot will patrol the visiting crease in Boston on Saturday, per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.

Talbot has floundered in his last two starts, allowing nine goals on 48 shots in a pair of losses. He had strung four straight wins prior to his current cold streak, giving him a 9-4-0 record with a 2.97 GAA and an .887 save percentage across 14 appearances. The Bruins are generating 3.04 goals per game, 18th in the NHL.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Tending twine Saturday

Swayman will protect the home net against Detroit on Saturday, per Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic.

Swayman will get the second half of Boston's back-to-back after Joonas Korpisalo played in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers. The 27-year-old Swayman is coming off a 44-save performance in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Islanders. He has a 10-6-0 record with a 2.68 GAA and a .915 save percentage across 16 appearances this season. Detroit sits 22nd in the league with 2.92 goals per game this campaign.

  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Back in win column Friday

Binnington turned aside 25 shots in Friday's 4-3 win over the Senators.

The 32-year-old netminder has gone six straight starts without taking a regulation loss, delivering a 3-0-3 record with a 2.75 GAA and a .909 save percentage during that span. Binnington has fallen into a timeshare with Joel Hofer in November, but with the younger goalie struggling of late (0-2-2 with a 3.46 GAA in his last four starts), the workload could begin to tip back in Binnington's favor.

  • Senators' Leevi Merilainen: Fades late in St. Louis

Merilainen made 27 saves in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Blues.

Ottawa took a 2-1 lead into the third period, but Merilainen couldn't make it stick as a Jordan Kyrou tally early in the final frame launched the home side toward a victory. Merilainen has lost two straight starts on the heels of a three-start win streak, leveling his record at 3-3-0 on the season with a 3.40 GAA and an .874 save percentage.

  • Panthers' Daniil Tarasov: Falls to Flames on Friday

Tarasov stopped 29 of 33 shots in Friday's 5-3 loss to Calgary, with the Flames' final goal getting scored into an empty net.

Florida jumped out to a 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the first period, but Tarasov had given it back before the first intermission. The 26-year-old netminder allowed more than three goals in an outing for the first time all season, and through eight appearances as Sergei Bobrovsky's understudy, Tarasov has gone 2-4-1 with a 2.67 GAA and a .907 save percentage.

  • Devin Cooley G | CGY

Flames' Devin Cooley: Hangs on for third straight win

Cooley made 37 saves in Friday's 5-3 win over the Panthers.

The 28-year-old netminder looked like he was in for a long afternoon when Florida scored twice in the first three minutes of the first period after a couple of defensive miscues by Calgary, but Cooley kept his composure and gave his team a chance to rally. Cooley has won three straight starts and hasn't given up more than three goals in an outing all season, posting a 3-2-1 record with a 2.00 GAA and a .930 save percentage through nine appearances. With Dustin Wolf still struggling (3.17 GAA, .890 save percentage), Cooley's workload figures to keep growing.

  • Ville Husso G | ANA

Ducks' Ville Husso: Nabs first win in shootout

Husso turned aside 23 shots in regulation and overtime and both shootout attempts he faced in Friday's 5-4 win over the Kings.

Making his first NHL start of the season with Lukas Dostal (upper body) on the shelf, Husso fell behind 4-2 early in the third period. Husso stiffened down the stretch as the Ducks rallied while stoning Kevin Fiala and Adrian Kempe in the shootout. Dostal is expected to be out until mid-December, which could lead to Husso splitting the workload in the Anaheim crease with Petr Mrazek over the next few weeks. Husso posted respectable numbers for AHL San Diego prior to his promotion, going 6-4-3 with a 2.49 GAA and a .908 save percentage.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Downed by Ducks in shootout

Kuemper stopped 27 shots in regulation and overtime and one of three shootout attempts in Friday's 5-4 loss to Anaheim.

The Kings took a 4-2 lead early in the third period, but Kuemper couldn't prevent the Ducks from rallying, and he then got beaten in the shootout by Troy Terry and Mason McTavish. The veteran netminder has just one win in his last four starts, going 1-1-2 despite a sharp 2.20 GAA and .918 save percentage over that stretch.
