  • Lukas Dostal G | ANA

Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Torched for five goals

Dostal stopped 21 of 26 shots in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.

Even on the second half of their back-to-back, the Avalanche posed a threat, and Dostal didn't rise to the challenge. This ended his five-game winning streak, though it's the third time in four games since the Olympics that he's allowed at least four goals. The 25-year-old is at a 24-14-2 record with a 3.02 GAA and an .894 save percentage over 42 outings this season. Ville Husso is likely to start Wednesday versus the Islanders, but Dostal should be back between the pipes Friday against the Canadiens.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Steady in Tuesday's win

Wedgewood allowed one goals on 28 shots in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Ducks.

Wedgewood has won both of his outings since the Olympic break, stopping 55 of 58 shots in those games. The 33-year-old limited the Ducks to a Cutter Gauthier tally in the second period of this contest. Wedgewood is up to 22-4-5 with a 2.25 GAA and a .914 save percentage over 33 outings this season. Despite his continued strong play, he looks to be in the backup role behind Mackenzie Blackwood, who has been just as good. The Avalanche have a huge matchup ahead when they visit the Stars on Friday.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Another shaky outing

Vasilevskiy stopped 17 of 21 shots in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Wild. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.

The Lightning didn't offer much help here, sending Vasilevskiy to a second straight loss to follow his nine-game winning streak. He's allowed nine goals on 35 shots over his last two outings. He's now at a 28-9-3 record with a 2.26 GAA and a .914 save percentage through 40 starts. Vasilevskiy is too good to let these struggles last much longer, and the losses have come against the Sabres and Wild, so it's not like he's getting beaten by bad teams. The Lightning's road trip continues Thursday in Winnipeg.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Sharp against Lightning

Gustavsson stopped 24 of 25 shots in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Lightning.

The game was close through two periods, and Gustavsson did his job while the Wild worked to build a lead. The lone goal against was a second-period tally by Nikita Kucherov. Gustavsson has won five of his last six games, allowing two or fewer goals in four of those outings. He's now at a 22-10-6 record with a 2.54 GAA and a .911 save percentage over 39 appearances this season. Gustavsson has started three of the Wild's fourth games since the Olympics, suggesting he will get a majority of the workload as the team competes for its positioning in the Central Division. The Wild's next game is Friday in Vegas.

  • Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Good not good enough

Bobrovsky made 28 saves Tuesday in a 5-1 loss to the Devils. He allowed three goals.

Bob tried to be the difference maker, and, to be honest, he was. Bobrovsky kept his teammates in the game when they were on their heels. "Our goaltending was good, but we got behind the game and we're having a hard time generating, so we tried to do it a whole bunch of different ways that weren't particularly effective," Florida coach Paul Maurice told reporters after the game. Bobrovsky has allowed eight goals in his last two games, and he's 1-2-0 in three starts since the break.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Takes overtime loss

Ullmark stopped 32 of 37 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Oilers.

Ullmark wasn't able to contain a strong offense, squandering three separate leads before Evan Bouchard's goal in overtime decided the contest. The 32-year-old Ullmark hadn't allowed more than two goals in any of his previous four outings since he returned from a personal absence. He's now 17-8-7 with a 2.86 GAA and an .884 save percentage on the season. The remainder of the Senators' road trip is far less intimidating, and it continues Thursday in Calgary.

  • Oilers' Connor Ingram: Does enough for win

Ingram stopped 17 of 21 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Senators.

The Oilers never led in regulation, but Ingram kept it from getting too lopsided. Evan Bouchard's game-winner on the power play in overtime gave Ingram his second win in four outings since the Olympic break, a span in which he's allowed 11 goals on 80 shots. He's now 8-6-1 with a 2.83 GAA and an .890 save percentage over 17 appearances. Ingram's playing time is picking up, but he'll need to look significantly steadier between the pipes to pull away from Tristan Jarry for the rest of the season. The Oilers have a tough matchup ahead when they host the Hurricanes on Friday.

  • Devils' Jacob Markstrom: Second straight win

Markstrom made 20 saves in a 5-1 win over the Panthers on Tuesday.

Markstrom had to be sharp right out of the gate when his team started with a couple of ugly shifts. He's put up back-to-back wins with one goal allowed in each. The 36-year-old Swede is 17-14-1 with a 3.06 GAA and .888 save percentage in 33 appearances this season. Jake Allen's ratios are significantly better (2.61 GAA, .907 save percentage), but he's 12-15-1 in 29 outings. The Devils need wins, and Markstrom has a slight advantage.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Solid in loss

Schmid made 25 saves in a 3-2 loss to Buffalo on Tuesday.

Schmid has scuffled a bit in his last six games. He's 1-4-1 since Jan. 22, and he's allowed 18 goals in that span. Platoon-mate Adin Hill is 3-3-1 with 27 goals allowed in his seven latest starts. The Vegas net belongs to these two, with Carter Hart (lower body) out week-to-week since Jan. 8.

  • Alex Lyon G | BUF

    Sabres' Alex Lyon: Knight slayer

Lyon made 27 saves in a 3-2 win over Vegas on Tuesday.

The Sabres staked him to a 3-0 lead before he wobbled slightly in the second. On the first goal, Lyon was headed left for a save when Ivan Barbashev grabbed a rebound and scored on a wraparound at the opposite post. The second came 1:37 later when Pavel Dorofeyev scored five-hole on a breakaway. Lyon has won both games he has played since the break; he allowed four goals total. He's 16-8-3 with a 2.66 GAA, .915 save percentage and two shutouts in 27 starts this season. Best of all, he has helped propel the Sabres to within two points of first in the Atlantic Division.
