  • Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Makes easy work of Sharks

Bussi stopped 16 of 17 shots in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Bussi didn't face a ton of traffic, but he was sharp when he needed to be. The lone goal against was a William Eklund tally in the second period. The 27-year-old Bussi has been with the Hurricanes since he was claimed off waivers from the Panthers prior to the start of the season. He's filling the backup role behind Frederik Andersen while Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) is on the mend. Expect Andersen to face one of his former teams, the Ducks, on Thursday.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Falls to Stars

Gustavsson stopped 20 of 23 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Stars. The last two goals were empty-netters.

Gustavsson fell to 1-2-0 on the year after getting no help from his teammates in the first two periods. The Wild pushed back in the third but failed to find an equalizer. With nine goals allowed on 80 shots over three games, Gustavsson's performance has been closer to mediocre than excellent on the whole. Jesper Wallstedt beat the Kings on Monday and could carve out a larger role if Gustavsson experiences an extended slump. The Wild continue their road trip with a back-to-back against the Capitals on Friday and the Flyers on Saturday, which should allow each goalie to get a start.

  • Predators' Justus Annunen: Allows five in loss

Annunen made 21 saves in a 7-4 loss to Toronto on Tuesday.

He allowed five goals. It was a tough night to make his season debut, what with the Leafs' stars coiled and ready to explode offensively. Annunen remains the number two man in Nashville, and he won't always get the tough matchups. Spot duty is likely your best option in dailies.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Strong performance in win

Oettinger stopped 39 of 41 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Wild.

Oettinger kept the Wild off the board until they found a pair of power-play goals in the third period. Even with the lead down to a goal, Oettinger held firm and got a couple of empty-netters for support at the end from his teammates. The 26-year-old had his best start of the season and is now 3-0-0 with 10 goals allowed on 105 shots over three contests. The Stars' next game is at home Thursday versus the Canucks.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Solid but not good enough for win

Vasilevskiy made 25 saves Tuesday in a 3-2 OT loss to the Capitals.

Vasy was solid; the Caps were simply better. Even still, his overall numbers (4.08 GAA and .870 save percentage) are well below average. We don't think that Vasilevskiy will suffer long term from this. He's one of the top-five twinetenders in the world.

  • Capitals' Logan Thompson: Backstops team to OT victory

Thompson made 17 saves in a 3-2 overtime win over the Lightning on Tuesday.

Jake Guentzel beat him five-hole on a one-timer from the right hash marks in the first. And Brayden Point tipped a Victor Hedman point shot on the power play early in the third to push the Bolts out in front, as least temporarily. In three starts this season, Thompson has put up two wins and is riding a 2.01 GAA and .921 save percentage. He's allowed exactly two goals in all three games played.

  • Adin Hill G | LV

Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Hurt in first period

Hill (lower body) won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Flames, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.

Hill took a shot up high in the first period, but it was the fall after his mask fell off that seemingly caused this injury. Any absence for Hill is precarious, as the Golden Knights are thin at goaltender. Akira Schmid took over in goal Tuesday and would likely operate as the starter if Hill misses time. Carl Lindbom would likely be called up from AHL Henderson for additional depth as well.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Between pipes Tuesday

Gustavsson will protect the road goal versus the Stars on Tuesday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Gustavsson has worked at both extremes this season, earning a shutout win over the Blues on Thursday in his first game before allowing six goals on 31 shots Saturday versus the Blue Jackets. The 27-year-old will get his toughest test yet against a Stars team that has scored nine times over two games.

  • Penguins' Tristan Jarry: Set to start in Anaheim

Jarry will guard the road goal versus the Ducks on Tuesday, Josh Yohe of The Athletic reports.

Jarry stopped 34 of 37 shots versus the Islanders in his season debut Thursday. He'll get his second start of the year as he continues to alternate with Arturs Silovs in goal. The Ducks have scored eight times over their first two games.

  • Adin Hill G | LV

Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Guarding goal Tuesday

Hill will protect the road goal versus the Flames on Tuesday, Ryan Pike of Flames Nation reports.

Hill has come up winless in his first two starts of the season, allowing seven goals on 48 shots. Both defeats came after regulation time -- one in a shootout and the other in overtime. Hill's in a favorable matchup, as the Flames have scored just six goals in three games to start the year.
