  • Penguins' Filip Larsson: On waivers Thursday

Larsson was placed on waivers by the Penguins on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Larsson probably sits fifth on the Penguins' goaltending depth chart behind both Joel Blomqvist (lower body) and Sergei Murashov. Even with Blomqvist dealing with an injury, Larsson could find himself down with ECHL Wheeling for the upcoming campaign. Given how far away Larsson is from the NHL, he figures to be a non-factor in fantasy contests.

  • Flames' Ivan Prosvetov: Waived for reassignment

Prosvetov was designated for waivers by the Flames on Thursday.

Prosvetov appears to have lost the training camp battle against Devin Cooley for the backup job in Calgary -- though the team could still flip the two netminders prior to Opening Night against the Oilers on Wednesday. With Dustin Wolf firmly cemented as the No. 1 option for the Flames, Prosvetov was unlikely to see significant starts to begin with.

  • Lightning's Pheonix Copley: Snagged off waivers

Copley was picked up off waivers by the Lightning from the Kings on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

The decision to add Copley to the Bolts' roster is an interesting one considering Andrei Vasilevskiy has been dealing with an undisclosed injury during training camp -- though he is reportedly nearing a return to action. The team already has Jonas Johansson in the fold to serve as the No. 2 option, but it seems the club may not have full confidence in his abilities. As for Copley, the likely won't be the last time he's placed on waivers this season. If he stays with Tampa for the whole year, Copley figures to see around 20 regular-season appearances behind the workhorse Vasilevskiy.

  • Alex Lyon G | BUF

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Guarding cage Friday

Lyon will patrol the blue paint for Friday's preseason finale on the road versus the Penguins, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Lyon will step in after Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (lower body) was injured in Wednesday's preseason. At this point, if Luukkonen can't play in the season opener versus the Rangers on Oct. 9, then it looks like Lyon will guard the cage instead -- though Alexandar Georgiev could still be an option.

  • Kings' Erik Portillo: Recalled by Los Angeles

Portillo was recalled from AHL Ontario on Thursday.

Portillo was reassigned to the minors Wednesday, but he'll rejoin the NHL club a day later with two games remaining on the Kings' preseason schedule. Despite being recalled Thursday, the 25-year-old will likely head back to the minors before the start of the regular season.

  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: First off Thursday

Vejmelka was the first goalie off the ice during Thursday's morning skate, Brogan Houston of Deseret News Sports reports, indicating that he'll draw the preseason home start against the Kings.

Vejmelka will make his third preseason start in what could be his final chance to suit up before the start of the regular season. The 29-year-old went 26-22-8 with a 2.58 GAA and .904 save percentage last year, and he'll likely serve as the Mammoth's Opening Night starter against the Avalanche next Thursday.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Could return Saturday

The Lightning believe that Vasilevskiy (undisclosed) is in line to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Panthers, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.

Vasilevskiy has already been ruled out for Thursday's exhibition matchup against the Panthers, but he could have a chance for a final appearance before the start of the regular season. If he's healthy for the start of the 2025-26 campaign, Vasilevskiy remains in line to serve as the Lightning's No. 1 netminder.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Set to defend crease Saturday

Shesterkin is slated to start Saturday's preseason game on the road against Boston, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.

Shesterkin made 61 regular-season appearances last year and went 27-29-5 with a 2.86 GAA and .905 save percentage. He's set to enter the 2025-26 regular season as the Rangers' No. 1 netminder once again, and he'll have a final chance for a tune-up during Saturday's preseason finale.

  • Rangers' Jonathan Quick: Slated to start against New Jersey

Quick will patrol the home crease during Thursday's preseason game against the Devils, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.

Quick is set to play the full game Thursday, while Igor Shesterkin will start and play the full matchup during Saturday's preseason finale against Boston. Quick made 24 regular-season appearances last year and went 11-7-2 with a 3.17 GAA and .893 save percentage. He'll likely continue to serve as Igor Shesterkin's backup in 2025-26.

  • Senators' Leevi Merilainen: Drawing start Thursday

Merilainen will defend the road crease during Thursday's preseason game against the Blues, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.

Merilainen is slated to play the full game in what will likely be his final tune-up ahead of the regular season. Once the 2025-26 campaign begins, Merilainen is expected to serve as Linus Ullmark's backup.
