Erik Portillo G | LA
Kings' Erik Portillo: Heads to minors
Portillo was reassigned to AHL Ontario on Wednesday.
Los Angeles also sent Kenny Connors, Francesco Pinelli, Jared Wright, Jakub Dvorak, Jack Millar, Tim Rego, Otto Salin, Kirill Kirsanov and Isaiah Saville to Ontario. The 25-year-old Portillo had a 2.82 GAA and an .889 save percentage across 24 regular-season outings with Ontario in 2024-25. Portillo is believed to be behind Darcy Kuemper, Anton Forsberg and Pheonix Copley in the depth charts, so Portillo isn't likely to start for the Kings unless at least two goaltenders are injured.

Lukas Dostal G | ANA
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Won't play Wednesday
Dostal (lower body) isn't expected to play on the road in Wednesday's preseason game against San Jose, per Max Miller of NHL.com.
Dostal had a 23-23-7 record, 3.10 GAA and .903 save percentage in 54 outings with the Ducks in 2024-25. He isn't expected to be out for long and participated in Wednesday's morning skate, according to Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune.

Calle Clang G | ANA
Ducks' Calle Clang: Elevated from minors
Clang was promoted from AHL San Diego on Wednesday.
Even with Lukas Dostal (lower body) dealing with an injury, Clang shouldn't be expected to make the Opening Night roster. Instead, the 23-year-old backstop figures to split the workload in the minors with either Petr Mrazek or Ville Husso, depending on which netminder loses the battle for the No. 2 job in Anaheim.

Ivan Prosvetov G | CGY
Flames' Ivan Prosvetov: Expected to start Wednesday
Prosvetov is slated to get the home start for Wednesday's preseason game against Vancouver, per Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
Prosvetov is likely to play in just half the game before Devin Cooley takes over for the remainder. The 26-year-old Prosvetov had a 4-3-1 record, 3.16 GAA and .895 save percentage in 11 regular-season outings with Colorado in 2023-24, but he spent the full 2024-25 campaign with the KHL's CSKA Moscow, posting a 2.32 GAA and a .920 save percentage across 38 regular-season outings. Prosvetov and Cooley are competing to start the upcoming campaign as Dustin Wolf's understudy.

Arturs Silovs G | PIT
Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Set to start Wednesday
Silovs is expected to guard the road goal for Wednesday's preseason game against Buffalo, per Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Silovs is expected to stay in net for the full game. This will be his third appearance of the preseason after stopping 19 of 21 shots over his previous two outings. He's projected to open the season as Tristan Jarry's understudy, but Silovs might play more than a typical backup if Jarry struggles like he did for significant stretches of 2024-25.

Connor Ingram G | EDM
Oilers' Connor Ingram: Getting fresh start
Ingram was acquired by Edmonton from Utah on Wednesday in exchange for future considerations. Utah will retain $800,000 of his $1.95 million cap hit.
Ingram, who is in the final season of his three-year, $5.85 million contract, had a 9-8-4 record, 3.27 GAA and an .882 save percentage across 22 appearances with Utah in 2024-25. While those numbers aren't great, he had a solid .907 save percentage across 77 outings with Arizona during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 regular seasons. Ingram was in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program before being cleared to return to on-ice activities in August. He's already cleared waivers, and Edmonton plans to have him start in AHL Bakersfield, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see him earn an opportunity with the Oilers as the season progresses.

Pheonix Copley G | LA
Kings' Pheonix Copley: Getting start in Boise game
Copley will guard the road goal in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Mammoth in Boise, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Copley will get the nod for a neutral-site game. The 33-year-old has not yet played in the preseason. He is likely to miss out on the NHL roster and will need to pass through waivers to be assigned to AHL Ontario.
-
Cam Talbot G | DET
Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Tending twine versus Chicago
Talbot will guard the road goal versus the Blackhawks in Tuesday's preseason game, per the NHL media site.
Talbot will get his second start of the preseason. His first outing was a bit rough, as he allowed two goals on eight shots in just over half of a game. The 38-year-old netminder is projected to handle a backup role to John Gibson this season, though it could become a timeshare if neither goalie gets in a rhythm.
-
Trent Miner G | COL
Avalanche's Trent Miner: Starting Tuesday
Miner will patrol the home crease in Tuesday's preseason game versus Vegas, according to Bailey Curtis of The Hockey News.
With Mackenzie Blackwood (lower body) dealing with an injury, Miner could begin the 2025-26 campaign as Scott Wedgewood's backup. The 24-year-old Miner posted a 22-10-6 record with a 2.12 GAA and a .918 save percentage across 38 regular-season appearances for AHL Colorado in 2024-25.

Casey DeSmith G | DAL
Stars' Casey DeSmith: Facing St. Louis

As Jake Oettinger's backup in the 2024-25 regular season, DeSmith posted a 14-8-2 record with two shutouts, a 2.59 GAA and a .915 save percentage across 27 appearances. The 34-year-old DeSmith will occupy the same role this campaign.
