  • Penguins' Declan Carlile: Tallies first goal with Penguins

Carlile potted a goal, placed three shots on net and recorded three blocked shots in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Canadiens.

After Carlile picked up an assist during his Penguins' debut, he found the back of the net himself early in the second period to give his new team a 2-1 lead. The 26-year-old blueliner seems to be benefitting from the change of scenery, as he was held to just one goal and three points across 42 regular-season games with Tampa Bay in 2025-26. While he's played more of a defensive role to begin his NHL career, that could change with Pittsburgh, as he's currently occupying a spot on the team's top pair alongside Erik Karlsson. If this trend continues, he's poised for a career year, giving him a solid chance to be relevant in deep fantasy leagues as well.

  • Joseph Woll G | PHI

Flyers' Joseph Woll: Second straight OT loss

Woll made 37 saves in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.

The Flyers were out-shot 40-18 on the night, so Woll did well just to earn the Flyers a point, but there wasn't much he could do on a Carolina power play in OT. The former Toronto netminder has started two of Philly's first three games, which could be due to the upper-body injury Dan Vladar dealt with late in the preseason, and Woll has had to settle for OTLs while allowing three goals in each outing.

  • Penguins' Ben Kindel: Finds twine in return

Kindel tallied a power-play goal, fired five shots on net and dished out two hits in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over Montreal.

After starting the new season on injured reserve, Kindel was cleared before Saturday's contest and made a big impact with his power-play goal. The 19-year-old center had one of the steadiest rookie campaigns across the NHL in 2025-26, where he compiled 17 goals, 35 points, 151 shots on net, 30 hits and 58 blocked shots across 77 regular-season games. Now that he's back in the lineup, Kindel should continue to center a line in Pittsburgh's middle six for the foreseeable future. If you stashed him on your IR spot in deep fantasy leagues, hold onto him while he's off to a strong start.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Two helpers in OT win

Svechnikov notched two assists, one on the power play, in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers.

The 26-year-old winger had a hand in a pair of Sebastian Aho tallies. Svechnikov potted a career-high 31 goals and 70 points in 2025-26 over 79 regular-season games, and through the first three contests to begin the current campaign he's picked up three assists, including two with the man advantage.

  • Lane Hutson D | MON

Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Plucks three apples Saturday

Hutson dished out three assists and placed three shots on net in Saturday's 6-5 overtime loss to Pittsburgh.

After being held off the scoresheet in the team's Opening Night matchup, Hutson found the scoresheet three times on Saturday, playing his hand on goals scored by Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki and Ivan Demidov. The 22-year-old blueliner finished in the top three for assists among defensemen in 2025-26, where he dished out 66 helpers across 82 regular-season outings. Now in his third season, Hutson is viewed with a high ceiling in fantasy, and he could be in for his first campaign with 80-plus points if outings such as Saturday's become common for him.

  • Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Three-point effort in comeback win

Aho scored two goals, one on the power play, and added a power-play assist in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers.

Carolina's No. 1 center found the back of the net just 10 seconds into the game, then tied the game at 2-2 early in the third before helping to set up Shayne Gostisbehere for the OT winner. Aho has collected three goals and four points through three games to begin the season as he looks to reach 30 goals for the sixth time and 80 points for the fifth time.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Nabs win in season debut

Kochetkov turned aside 16 shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers.

Making his 2026-27 debut, Kochetkov fell behind 2-1 on a Matvei Michkov tally midway through the second period, but the 27-year-old netminder shut the door the rest of the way as the Hurricanes mounted a comeback. Kochetkov appears to be firmly behind Brandon Bussi on the depth chart, but he should still see 25-30 starts on the season in that role if he can stay healthy.

  • Cole Caufield RW | MON

Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Finds twine twice Saturday

Caufield scored two goals, posted a plus-three rating and placed three shots on net in Saturday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Penguins.

Caufield found the back of the net for the first two times this season, with his first tally arriving less than four minutes into Saturday's contest. While the Canadiens faltered in the middle of the game, the 25-year-old winger aided the comeback effort with another goal in the third period. Expectations are high for the young forward, who put the league on notice last year with 51 goals across 81 regular-season games. He's set up for success again in 2026-27 while playing alongside Nick Suzuki and Chris Kreider on the Habs' top line. There's still plenty of hockey remaining in the new season, but Caufield is trending towards holding one of the highest goal-scoring floors in the league.

  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Leads charge in win over Kraken

McDavid scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over Seattle.

Both points came in the third period as the Oilers broke open a 1-1 tie. McDavid has been locked in to begin the season, recording three straight multi-point performances while racking up two goals and nine points as he looks to defend his Art Ross Trophy win from 2025-26, when he piled up 138 points (48 goals and 90 helpers) in 82 regular-season games.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Stays hot with three points

Malkin scored a power-play goal, distributed two assists and served two PIM in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Canadiens.

After scoring a power-play goal during the Penguins' Opening Night matchup, Malkin replicated that performance and more Saturday. He tallied the lone goal of the first period before later assisting his linemate Tommy Novak twice, which included his pass on the game-winning goal. Through two appearances, Malkin is up to four points, a plus-two rating and three shots on net. He was held to just four power-play goals a season ago, so already posting two tallies with a man advantage is an encouraging sign for the 21-year NHL veteran. Regardless, Malkin has displayed that he has enough juice left in the tank to be a leader for the Pens' offense in 2026-27, where we fantasy managers could expect to see him post another campaign with 60-plus points.
