  • Bruins' Elias Lindholm: Scores third-period goal in victory

Lindholm recorded a goal on two shots while also recording two blocked shots during Tuesday's 5-1 preseason win over Philadelphia.

Lindholm didn't appear in the Bruins' preseason opener against the Capitals on Sunday, but he was on the ice Tuesday and made his presence felt with a third-period goal. He appeared in 69 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign, recording 17 goals, 31 assists, 59 blocked shots, 41 hits and 38 PIM while averaging 17:53 of ice time.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Set to start Wednesday

Oettinger is expected to guard the home goal in Wednesday's preseason game against Minnesota, per Robert Tiffin of NHL.com.

Oettinger had a 35-12-6 record, 2.59 GAA and .899 save percentage in 54 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. That marked a career low for him in terms of save percentage and a substantial drop from his .912 save percentage across 251 regular-season outings from 2020-21 through 2024-25. Even after that drop, Oettinger's position as Dallas' No. 1 netminder is secure going into the 2026-27 campaign, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him do better this season.

  • Bruins' Morgan Geekie: Pots goal in preseason win

Geekie scored a power-play goal on one shot while also recording a hit during Tuesday's 5-1 preseason win over the Flyers.

Geekie has shown improvement over each of his first three seasons in Boston, and he appears to be in line for a significant role once again during the 2026-27 campaign. Across 81 regular-season appearances last year, he recorded 39 goals, 29 assists, 110 hits, 34 blocked shots and 22 PIM while averaging 17:24 of ice time, and it was encouraging to see him score a third-period goal with the man advantage during his preseason debut Tuesday.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Sharp in preseason debut

Swayman allowed one goal on 21 shots during Tuesday's 5-1 preseason win over the Flyers.

After Michael DiPietro played in Sunday's preseason opener, Swayman got the starting nod for Tuesday's exhibition contest and played the entire game. The Bruins close out the preseason with a back-to-back set Thursday in Philadelphia and Friday in Washington. Swayman will probably make one more appearance before serving as Boston's starting netminder once the regular season begins.

  • Matvei Gridin RW | CGY

Flames' Matvei Gridin: Records two assists in preseason win

Gridin registered two assists in a 3-1 exhibition win over Vancouver on Tuesday.

Gridin had six goals and 20 points in 37 regular-season outings with Calgary in 2025-26. The 20-year-old is gearing up for his first full NHL campaign, and he's likely to get ample playing time as a member of the top six and first power-play unit. It wouldn't be shocking to see Gridin reach the 50-point milestone in 2026-27.

  • Dustin Wolf G | CGY

Flames' Dustin Wolf: Handles light workload in preseason win

Wolf stopped eight of nine shots in a 3-1 preseason win over Vancouver on Tuesday.

That's not a typo, and Wolf did play the full game. Vancouver really did manage just nine shots on goal. In defense of the Canucks, they dressed a primarily AHL squad for this exhibition tilt, but that also means it's hard to read much into Wolf's performance. The 25-year-old goaltender had a 23-29-3 record, 3.01 GAA and .899 save percentage in 57 regular-season appearances with the Flames in 2025-26.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Loses Tuesday's preseason game

Lankinen stopped 27 of 30 shots en route to a 3-1 preseason loss to Calgary on Tuesday.

Lankinen had an 11-27-5 record, 3.70 GAA and .875 save percentage in 47 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. It will be difficult for him to do much better this campaign as a member of the rebuilding Canucks. However, Lankinen could start 2026-27 as Vancouver's starting goaltender, while Thatcher Demko (hip) continues to recover from surgery.

  • Bruins' Matthew Poitras: Misses practice

Poitras (undisclosed) missed Wednesday's practice, per Scott McLaughlin of WEEI.

Poitras had 13 goals, 44 points and 48 PIM in 69 regular-season appearances with AHL Providence in 2025-26. He also had a goal in three regular-season outings with Boston last campaign. Provided he's healthy enough to do so, the 22-year-old is likely to begin the upcoming season in the minors.

  • Mammoth's Mikhail Sergachev: Gets two helpers in exhibition win

Sergachev registered two assists in a 6-3 exhibition win over Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Sergachev had 10 goals and 59 points in 78 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. That marked his second straight 50-plus-point campaign, and the third time he has reached that milestone in the past four years. The exception was 2023-24 when he was limited to 34 regular-season appearances. Sergachev is expected to be a great source of offense again in 2026-27, especially on the power play.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Struggles in preseason action

Kuemper turned aside 29 of 34 shots in a 6-3 preseason loss to Utah on Tuesday.

Exhibition action has to be taken with a grain of salt, but it's still not encouraging to see him surrender five goals. Kuemper left plenty to be desired in 2025-26 with a 19-14-15 record, 2.78 GAA and .891 save percentage in 50 regular-season appearances. It's possible he'll bounce back, but he's 36 years old, so at this point, his age is a factor. The presence of Anton Forsberg also means Kuemper has a credible competitor for the top job.
