  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Getting extra rest

MacKinnon (not injury related) won't play Wednesday versus the Mammoth, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.

MacKinnon will get a little extra rest following the Olympics, where he helped Canada to the silver medal, for maintenance purposes. The 30-year-old's status for Thursday at home versus the Wild has not yet been announced.

  • Mammoth's Michael Carcone: Under the weather

Carcone (illness) won't play Wednesday versus the Avalanche.

Carcone will miss at least one game coming out of the Olympic break. He put up four points over seven contests prior to the break. The 29-year-old forward will try to be healthy for Friday's game versus the Wild.

  • Jaden Schwartz LW | SEA

Kraken's Jaden Schwartz: Set to return

Schwartz (lower body) is set to be in the lineup versus the Stars on Wednesday, per the NHL media site.

Schwartz missed the Kraken's last game before the Olympic break, but it appears the time off will allow him to avoid a longer absence. Tye Kartye is coming out of the lineup, with Schwartz set to play.

  • Joey Daccord G | SEA

Kraken's Joey Daccord: Starting in Dallas

Daccord will protect the road goal versus the Stars on Wednesday, per the NHL media site.

Daccord is set to get the first half of a back-to-back, setting up Philipp Grubauer to start on the road in St. Louis on Thursday. Daccord has gone 6-3-0 over nine games since the start of January, though his 2.90 GAA and .902 save percentage don't inspire a lot of confidence against a tough, albeit depleted, Dallas roster.

  • Tyler Myers D | DAL

Canucks' Tyler Myers: Out for trade protection

Myers (not injury related) won't suit up versus the Jets on Wednesday, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports.

Myers' 21-game point drought looks to be how he'll end his Canucks tenure. He has a no-movement clause, but being held out of the lineup for trade-related reasons suggests he is willing to waive it to go to a contender. A potential destination is unclear, but talks appear to be progressing.

  • Jiri Patera G | VAN

Canucks' Jiri Patera: Drops to AHL

Patera was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday.

Patera spent the Olympic break with the Canucks, but he is no longer needed on the NHL roster due to Kevin Lankinen being good to go after his time with Team Finland. Patera may get chances to play later in the season if Lankinen or Nikita Tolopilo sustains an injury.

  • Filip Chytil C | VAN

Canucks' Filip Chytil: Heads to injured reserve

Chytil (face) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.

Chytil's move to IR frees up a roster spot with a trio of Canucks forwards coming back from injuries after the Olympic break. He is out indefinitely due to a facial fracture, and given his lengthy history of head and upper-body injuries, he could get shut down for the year at some point.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Tending twine Wednesday

Vasilevskiy will guard the home goal versus the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Vasilevskiy has gone 17 games without a regulation loss, going 16-0-1 with a 1.90 GAA and a .923 save percentage in that span. He won eight in a row prior to the Olympic break, which is all that seems able to slow him down this season. He's got a favorable matchup in this one as he looks to pick up where he left off.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Starting versus Devils

Luukkonen will start on the road versus the Devils on Wednesday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.

Luukkonen was activated from injured reserve and will suit up Wednesday after his lower-body injury cost him the opportunity to represent Finland at the Olympics. The 26-year-old goalie went 4-2-1 over eight games in January, but he had a mediocre 3.21 GAA and .901 save percentage in those contests.

  • Tom Wilson RW | WAS

Capitals' Tom Wilson: Out of action Wednesday

Wilson (illness) won't suit up Wednesday versus the Flyers.

Wilson was considered a game-time decision, and the Capitals will opt to play it safe with the power winger. His next chance to play is Friday versus the Golden Knights, which is the first half of a back-to-back set that concludes Saturday in Montreal.
