  • Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Two-point effort in Olympic opener

Zibanejad scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Sweden's 5-2 win over Italy in Olympic round-robin play Wednesday.

The Rangers sniper helped set up Sweden's opening goal of the Olympics by Gabriel Landeskog in the first period, before potting his own late in the third. Zibanejad was part of a Swedish attack that fired an incredible 59 shots at the Italian net, and the 32-year-old figures to have a key role in the offense for one of the tournament favorites.

  • Janis Moser D | TB

Lightning's J.J. Moser: Two points in win

Moser recorded a goal and an assist in Switzerland's 4-0 win over France in the 2026 Winter Olympics on Thursday.

Moser gave the Swiss team a 2-0 lead in the early stages of the first period, and then he participated in Timo Meier's fourth goal at the 16:13 mark of the final frame. Moser will have to be far more focused on the defensive side of the puck in the next game, however, with a tough matchup against Canada scheduled for Friday.

  • Timo Meier RW | NJ

Devils' Timo Meier: Scores twice vs. France

Meier scored two goals in Switzerland's 4-0 win over France in the 2026 Winter Olympics on Thursday.

Meier scored two of Switzerland's four goals in this Olympic opener, finding the back of the net twice in the final 10 minutes of the contest. Meier should be one of Switzerland's most reliable offensive weapons in a tough matchup against Canada on Friday, a game where the Swiss will be massive underdogs.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Big game for Team Sweden

Dahlin notched three assists in Sweden's 5-2 win over Italy in Olympic round-robin action Wednesday.

The Sabres defenseman picked up a helper in each period, including on William Nylander's game-winner in the second period that broke a 2-2 tie. Dahlin has plenty of competition for power-play time on a stacked Swedish blue line -- Erik Karlsson picked up an assist on the team's lone goal with the man advantage Wednesday -- but he should still be productive for one of the tournament favorites.

  • Jets' Josh Morrissey: Not returning Thursday

Morrissey (undisclosed) will not return to Thursday's clash versus Czechia at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Morrissey seemed to get hurt on his last shift of the first stanza when he collided with Ondrej Palat. Morrissey came out for the second period, played one shift and then returned to the dressing room, calling it a night. Shea Theodore, who was Canada's seventh defenseman Thursday, replaced Morrissey on the blue line. Canada faces Switzerland on Friday, and Morrissey's status for that matchup isn't yet clear.

  • Blue Jackets' Elvis Merzlikins: Facing Americans

Merzlikins will defend the Latvian crease against the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics on Thursday, according to Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.

Merzlikins won his last three starts in a Columbus uniform prior to the Olympic break, turning aside 70 of 75 shots. He is 11-8-1 with a 3.48 GAA and an .888 save percentage over 21 contests this season. Merzlikins has a tough matchup against the mighty American team, which includes Blue Jackets teammate Zach Werenski.

  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Starts for Canada

Binnington will draw the starting assignment versus Czechia at the 2026 Winter Olympics on Thursday, per Dan Rosen of NHL.com.

Binnington has struggled during the current NHL season, posting an 8-17-6 record with a 3.65 GAA and an .864 save percentage. Binnington gets the start following his outstanding play at the 4 Nations Face-Off, where he led Canada to the championship over the United States. The Czechs have some NHL players on their roster, including David Pastrnak.

  • Lukas Dostal G | ANA

    Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Facing Canada

Dostal will be between the pipes when Czechia takes on Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics on Thursday, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

Dostal won eight of his last nine starts with the Ducks prior to the start of the Olympics. He is 21-13-2 with a 2.92 GAA and an .897 save percentage across 38 appearances this season. He will have a tough matchup, as Canada is one of the favorites to win the gold medal at the Olympics.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Starting versus Latvia

Hellebuyck will get the start in net for the United States versus Latvia at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Hellebuyck has struggled at times this season in the NHL, but the 32-year-old is regarded as the best goaltender in the NHL over the last four seasons. He is 13-16-7 with a 2.79 GAA and a .900 save percentage across 36 contests with the Jets in 2025-26 after winning the Vezina Trophy the previous two seasons.

  • Canadiens' Alexandre Texier: Playing for France

Texier (lower body) will be in the lineup for France against Switzerland on Thursday at the 2026 Olympics.

Texier is the lone NHL player on Team France, and his status was questionable heading into the Olympics, as he had missed the last three games with the injury. Texier has seven goals and 11 assists across 38 NHL games this season, split between Montreal and St. Louis.
