Senators' Tim Stutzle: Strikes on power play in loss
Stutzle scored a power-play goal on three shots and went minus-3 in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Hurricanes.
Stutzle has scored in four straight games and has a total of five goals and four helpers during a six-game point streak. The 24-year-old is up to 27 goals, 60 points (19 on the power play), 144 shots on net, 87 hits, 38 blocked shots, 31 PIM and a plus-5 rating across 56 outings. He'll look to take this momentum with him to the Olympics, where he'll play for Germany, assuming he gets through Thursday's contest versus the Flyers without an injury.

Hurricanes' K'Andre Miller: Picks up assist Tuesday
Miller logged an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Senators.
Miller has been limited to two assists over his last 11 games, a significant downturn after he posted two goals and six helpers in eight contests between Dec. 29 and Jan. 10. The 26-year-old has lost some prime offensive minutes now that the Hurricanes' blue line is fully healthy, with Shayne Gostisbehere and Alexander Nikishin seeing most of the power-play time. Miller has four goals, 23 points, 80 shots on net, 61 hits, 49 blocked shots, 38 PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 48 appearances this season, giving him a chance to reach the 30-point mark for the third time in four years.

Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Defending road crease Wednesday
Askarov will tend the twine for Wednesday's road game against Colorado, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Askarov has largely struggled over the past few weeks, going 1-4-1 with a 4.04 GAA and .844 save percentage over his last six starts. He was pulled from Monday's loss to Chicago midway through the second period but will return to the crease Wednesday for the Sharks' final game before the Olympic break. The Avalanche lead the league with 3.83 goals per game this season.

Hurricanes' Jordan Staal: Nets game-winner Tuesday
Staal scored the game-winning goal and added six hits in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Senators.
Staal has four goals, one assist, eight shots on net and 15 hits over his last six games. The 37-year-old's tally at 14:53 of the third period Tuesday stood as the game-winner, his second such goal this season. He's at a total of 14 goals, 25 points, 73 shots, 109 hits, 28 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 53 appearances overall.

Sharks' Kiefer Sherwood: Ready to return
Sherwood (upper body) will be activated from injured reserve to play against Colorado on Wednesday, per Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.
Sherwood hasn't played since Jan. 10 due to the injury and will make his San Jose debut after being acquired from Vancouver on Jan. 19. Based on Tuesday's practice, he could skate on the top line and work on the second power-play unit. He has 17 goals and 23 points in 44 outings in 2025-26. Pavol Regenda is likely to be a healthy scratch versus the Avalanche due to Sherwood's return.

Trineyev has been sent to AHL Hershey on Wednesday.
Trineyev has been a healthy scratch for the last three games. He hasn't earned a point while posting one shot, one hit and two blocks in two outings with Washington this season. He has nine goals and 21 points in 32 outings with Hershey in 2025-26.

Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Leaves ice first Wednesday
Vejmelka was the first goalie off the ice ahead of Wednesday's home clash with Detroit, indicating he'll be in goal, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports.
Vejmelka continues to see a heavy workload, currently sitting tied with Nashville's Juuse Saros for starts (43) this season. In those outings, the 29-year-old Vejmelka is 26-14-2 with a 2.61 GAA, a .900 save percentage and one shutout. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, Vejmelka won't be able to sit on his couch during the Olympic break, as he will join Team Czechia for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Wild's Daemon Hunt: Good to go for Wednesday's game
Hunt (upper body) is available for Wednesday's game against the Predators, Wild radio broadcaster Joe O'Donnell reports.
Hunt exited Monday's game against the Canadiens due to an upper-body injury that he sustained when he took a shot up high, but he'll be able to suit up in Minnesota's final game ahead of the Olympic break. Over his last 13 appearances, he has recorded three assists, 17 blocked shots, four hits and a minus-3 rating while averaging 11:17 of ice time.

Edstrom (lower body) has been skating on his own and might be ready by the end of the Olympic break, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports Wednesday.
Edstrom is on long-term injured reserve and hasn't played since Nov. 29. He has two goals, four points, 48 hits and 13 blocks in 24 appearances in 2025-26. Edstrom is likely to be in the mix for a fourth-line role once he's healthy.

Wild's Jesper Wallstedt: Didn't travel with team
Wallstedt (illness) is not with the team ahead of Wednesday's road matchup with Nashville, Joe Smith of The Athletic reports.
Wallstedt will have some extra time to return to full health before joining Team Sweden at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Tre Kronor could use fellow Wild netminder Filip Gustavsson against Italy next Wednesday. However, Wallstedt has put himself in a good position to see minutes at some point during the tournament.
