Mets' Juan Soto: Batting leadoff Monday
Soto will start in left field and bat leadoff in Monday's game versus the Rockies.
It's just the third time that Soto has ever batted leadoff and the first time since 2021 he's been at the top of the batting order. He had batted second in each of his first 19 contests this season. Soto is flipping spots with Bo Bichette, who will move down to the two hole.

Mets' Juan Soto: Swipes first bag Saturday
Soto went 1-for-4 with a single, a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Angels.
After swiping a career-high 38 bases in 2025, Soto registered his first steal of the 2026 campaign in the 10th inning. The 27-year-old has been productive since returning from injury April 22, hitting safely in eight of 10 games with four extra-base hits, three RBI and five runs scored while reaching base at least once in each contest during that stretch. For the year, he's slashing .338/.442/.538 with three homers, eight RBI, eight runs scored and a steal across just 77 plate appearances.

Mets' Juan Soto: Could return to outfield soon
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Thursday that Soto (forearm) could return to playing the outfield during this weekend's series versus the Angels, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Soto has been limited to designated-hitter duty while battling left forearm tightness, but he's progressed to the point that a return to playing defense is imminent. A return to left field for Soto will allow for more flexibility in the Mets' DH slot and give the club more outfield options while Luis Robert (back) is on the shelf.

Mets' Juan Soto: Goes yard again Wednesday
Soto went 3-for-5 with a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals.
Not much is going right these days for the Mets, but at least Soto is finding his groove at the plate. The 27-year-old superstar has gone yard in back-to-back games, and in seven contests since returning from a calf strain he's batting .292 (7-for-24) with a 6:2 BB:K. Forearm soreness continues to limit him to DH, however, something that will put extra strain on the roster with Luis Robert (back) headed for the IL.

Mets' Juan Soto: No target date to play defense
Soto said Wednesday that he's continuing to make progress in his recovery from right forearm tightness, but he doesn't have a definitive target date for when he might be ready to play the outfield again, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Soto will serve as the Mets' designated hitter and No. 2 batter in Wednesday's game against the Nationals and should remain a lineup regular in a non-defensive role while he manages the forearm issue, which cropped up last Friday. The 27-year-old played catch Wednesday and is expected to continue gradually stretching out his throwing distance over the next few days until the Mets are confident that he can make all the necessary throws from his usual spot in left field.

Mets' Juan Soto: Swats second homer Tuesday
Soto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Nationals.
After missing 18 days with a calf injury, Soto returned to the lineup last week and now has his first homer since April 1 and just his second long ball of the season. Past the calf issue, Soto is now said to be dealing with forearm tightness that will limit him to designated hitter duties for the time being. Soto is slashing .300/.407/.460 with the two home runs, seven RBI, four runs scored and a 9:8 BB:K across 59 plate appearances this season.

Mets' Juan Soto: Limited to DH by forearm tightness
Soto will remain limited to designated hitter for now due to right forearm tightness, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Soto reported forearm tightness last Friday and underwent an MRI, which came back negative. He will continue to serve as the Mets' DH for now, but the hope is that Soto will be ready to return to the outfield "in the next few days," manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday. Soto is 3-for-15 with zero RBI and a 6:2 BB:K in five contests since coming back from a calf strain.

Mets' Juan Soto: On base four times in twin bill
Soto went 1-for-5 with three walks across both games of Sunday's doubleheader against the Rockies.
The Mets' offense managed just one run between the two losses, but Soto did his part to try and spark some offense. The 27-year-old superstar has yet to play defense since returning from a calf strain April 22, going 3-for-15 in the last five games without a run or an RBI but producing a 6:2 BB:K as he gets his timing back at the plate.

Mets' Juan Soto: Serving as DH in return
The Mets reinstated Soto (calf) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's game against the Twins. Soto will serve as the Mets' designated hitter and No. 2 batter in his return to the lineup, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Soto strained his right calf while running the bases in an April 3 game against the Giants, but after completing a full running progression, taking part in defensive drills and facing live pitching over the ensuing two and a half weeks, he's been given the green light to return from the IL without requiring a rehab assignment. The Mets will ease Soto back into action in a non-defensive role, but it shouldn't be long before he resumes playing left field on a full-time basis.
