Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Sitting again versus southpaw
Nootbaar is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Atlanta.
The Diamondbacks have faced two lefties since the trade deadline and the left-handed-hitting Nootbaar has been out of the lineup both times. Tyler Locklear is in the designated hitter slot and Ryan Waldschmidt will play left field for Arizona.

Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Bats leadoff Tuesday
Nootbaar batted leadoff and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 3-2 loss Colorado.
Nootbaar filled in at leadoff for the injured Geraldo Perdomo (knee), whose injury does not sound serious, per comments from manager Torey Lovullo in a report from Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. Since joining the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline, Nootbaar is 3-for-23 (.130) with five walks, one double, one RBI and two runs scored over seven games.

Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Out of Sunday's lineup
Nootbaar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
The veteran outfielder started all five games since being acquired from the Cardinals on Monday, but he'll hit the bench Sunday with lefty Justin Wrobleski taking the mound for Los Angeles. Nootbaar has opened his time with the Diamondbacks by going 3-for-17 with four walks, a double, one RBI and one run scored. He's unlikely to see significant action against left-handed pitching over the rest of the season.

Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Moves to LF, leadoff in win
Nootbaar started in left field and went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored as the leadoff batter in Wednesday's 10-4 win over the Padres.
Nootbaar was moved to left field in his second game in a Diamondbacks uniform after serving as the designated hitter Tuesday. He also took over the leadoff spot for a resting Ketel Marte. Nootbaar has extensive experience atop the order, having been deployed there 185 times in his career with the Cardinals. Marte and Corbin Carroll are the primary leadoff hitters for Arizona, but Nootbaar carries the traits a team seeks in the role -- he's below league average in chase rate while consistently above average in his walk rate.

Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Operates as DH in debut
Nootbaar served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with two walks in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to San Diego.
Nootbaar made his debut for Arizona after the team acquired the left-handed-hitting outfielder from St. Louis prior to Monday's trade deadline. Even with injuries in the outfield, the Diamondbacks have a crowded picture there. Nootbaar is mainly a corner outfielder and will vie for time in left field with another lefty hitter, Max Kepler, when not working as the DH.

Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Shipped to Arizona
The Diamondbacks acquired Nootbaar from the Cardinals on Monday in exchange for right-hander Daniel Eagen, left-hander Sandro Santana and a player to be named later.
An eighth-round draft pick by St. Louis in 2018, Nootbaar will move on after nine years as a member of the organization. After getting off to a delayed to the 2026 season while recovering from offseason surgery on his heels, the 28-year-old outfielder returned from the injured list June 5 and slashed .234/.333/.354 with three home runs, one stolen base, 22 runs and 16 RBI in 183 plate appearances. Nootbaar should settle into a regular role in the corner outfield for an Arizona squad that currently has three other outfielders in Lourdes Gurriel (adductor), Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) and Tommy Troy (shoulder) on the injured list.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Not starting versus lefty
Nootbaar is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Cubs.
The left-handed-hitting Nootbaar starts fairly often versus lefty pitchers, but he will begin Wednesday's festivities on the bench as the Cubs deploy southpaw Matthew Boyd as their starting pitcher. Jose Fermin will patrol left field and bat sixth for St. Louis.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Appears off bench Sunday
Nootbaar (illness) drew a walk and fouled out in two plate appearances off the bench in Sunday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Reds.
Nootbaar didn't start Sunday's game after exiting Saturday's 7-0 win when he experienced dehydration and lightheadedness. However, his absence from the lineup Sunday likely had more to do with the Reds starting a lefty (Andrew Abbott), as Nootbaar entered the game once Abbott exited. Nootbaar will be available to play Monday against the Cubs, though with lefty David Peterson slated to start, Nootbaar isn't guaranteed to be included in the lineup.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Sitting out Sunday
Nootbaar (illness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Nootbaar was removed from Saturday's 7-0 win after experiencing dehydration and lightheadedness, but his absence from the lineup Sunday probably has more to do with the fact that the Reds are sending lefty Andrew Abbott to the bump. Nelson Velazquez will draw the start in left field in place of Nootbaar, who has gone 3-for-25 (.160) with a 5:6 BB:K in 31 plate appearances versus southpaws this season.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Removed due to dehydration
Manager Oliver Marmol said Nootbaar was removed from Saturday's win over the Reds due to dehydration and lightheadedness, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Nootbaar walked and scored in the bottom of the sixth inning but was replaced in left field by Jose Fermin in the top of the seventh. Marmol said overall Nootbaar is fine, so it sounds like he'll have a chance to play in Sunday's series finale, though he could easily get a day off with lefty Andrew Abbott set to take the mound for Cincinnati. Since making his season debut June 5, Nootbaar has a .715 OPS with just three homers across 154 plate appearances.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Drives in three in loss
Nootbaar went 2-for-5 with three RBI in Thursday's 10-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Nootbaar kept a first-inning rally going with an RBI single after each of the three hitters before him reached safely with a hit. He later added a two-RBI single in the ninth as the Cardinals attempted to chip away at Arizona's sizable advantage. Nootbaar is 5-for-22 through the first six games since the All-Star break while filling a strong-side platoon role in left field.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Idle against lefty
Nootbaar is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
The Cardinals will send Nootbaar and fellow left-handed-hitting outfielder Nathan Church to the bench Wednesday while southpaw Reid Detmers toes the rubber for the Angels. Nelson Velazquez will take Nootbaar's spot in left field and will bat fifth.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Blasts homer in win
Nootbaar went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run, a walk and a second run scored in Saturday's 4-1 win over Atlanta.
Nootbaar's first-inning blast gave the Cardinals all the offense they needed in this contest. The outfielder had gone a month between homers, batting .269 with a .687 OPS during his 24-game power drought. For the season, Nootbaar is hitting .265 with a .781 OPS, three homers, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored, one steal, six doubles and one triple over 31 contests. He is filling a strong-side platoon role in left field.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Taking seat versus Sale
Nootbaar is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.
Lefty ace Chris Sale is on the bump for Atlanta, so the Cardinals are loading up their lineup with righty bats. The right-handed-hitting Nelson Velazquez will cover left field while the lefty-swinging Noobaar sits.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Out of lineup against lefty
Nootbaar is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Brewers.
The lefty-swinging Nootbaar will grab a seat as the Brewers use southpaw Shane Drohan in the series opener. Nelson Velazquez will patrol left field and hit cleanup for the Cardinals.
