The easy solution for the Hawks to solve those two starting positions is to re-sign Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll. Keeping the core of a 60-win team together, beefing up the bench and moving into next season with more continuity would be the ideal situation for the Hawks. If they lose out on Millsap and he heads elsewhere, especially with Carroll's cap hold being just $3.1 million. With Pero Antic expected to sign overseas, the Hawks need to re-sign Millsap, find a backup PF and then a fifth big man as well.

The Boston Celtics will have significant cap room this summer and if they can package their bevy of future picks with Gerald Wallace so a team will take his $10.1 million expiring deal, they could have max cap room and enough for another major role player. Kevin Love will be a target for them, and you can expect them to kick the tires on LaMarcus Aldridge and maybe even Greg Monroe. This team needs a real inside presence though, along with re-signing Jae Crowder and looking to add another quality veteran role player. Danny Ainge's rebuilding/retooling project is still very much in flux.

The Nets will push hard to re-sign both Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young to keep their playoff roster together as much as possible. From there, they'll have to make decisions between re-signing Alan Anderson or Mirza Teletovic. But they'll still need a backup center, especially with Lopez's injury concerns. They are close to a full roster already, but can waive Morris or Clark pretty easily to make room for another big man. There's a chance they can make major changes to the roster by dealing Joe Johnson's expiring contract ($24.8M).

In terms of free agency, there's not a whole lot the Hornets can do. They can throw their mid-level exception at a backup point guard, but they don't have Bird rights to try to re-sign Mo Williams to anything above the bi-annual exception or MLE. They have tons of roster flexibility with expiring contracts like Batum ($13.1M), Jefferson ($13.5M) and Marvin Williams ($7M) if they want to shake up the roster further, but they mostly just have exceptions to fill out some depth on the roster. They didn't tender a qualifying offer to Bismack Biyombo, likely signaling he's gone from the team's plans.

The Bulls extended the qualifying offer and the maximum qualifying offer to Jimmy Butler, which essentially means he has to call their bluff and except the one-year qualifying offer ($4.4 million) in order to still try to take advantage of the crazy jump in salary cap next summer. The best another team can do is offer a three-year offer sheet without any options, which doesn't fit into Butler's plan of signing a short-term offer sheet and testing the waters again soon. The Bulls also need to re-sign Mike Dunleavy (they have his early Bird rights) and find a capable backup point guard with one of their exceptions (MLE, bi-annual).

This one is pretty simple. The Cavs re-sign Kevin Love, they re-sign Tristan Thompson, they re-sign Iman Shumpert, they re-sign Matthew Dellavedova and they see if some combination of James Jones and Kendrick Perkins want to come back again. Then the Cavs will decide if they want to use their exceptions on wing depth or a backup point guard so Dellavedova can play more off-ball. The Cavs can also use the non-guaranteed contract of Haywood to acquire some help for anywhere on the roster. The biggest decision they have to make is if they trust J.R. Smith enough to bring him back to a team that should be Finals bound if healthy.

Greg Monroe's time as a Detroit Piston is more than likely up, and that's just fine with Stan Van Gundy, who wants more of a stretch-4 out there. The question for the Pistons is how much do they trust the rehab process for Brandon Jennings? Reggie Jackson wasn't a disaster, but he doesn't really fit SVG's style of play because he can't shoot. If Jennings can come back healthy, the Pistons should be fine, but they need more playmaking on the wings, and a backup center. Jackson's cap hold is only $5.5 million, so they won't be handcuffed by inactivity with his future.

A lot of the depth the Indiana Pacers were hoping to have with a healthy roster could be gutted with upwards of seven free agents on the market. It sounds like David West is gone, and that leaves a huge hole in their attack and depth. They probably would've liked Roy Hibbert not to opt in because it would've given them much more salary cap flexibility, but they can now use his expiring deal as bait. If they're going to blow it up and retool around Paul George, moving Hibbert and George Hill become the priorities this summer. Otherwise, restock the starting lineup with a wing to go next to PG13 and a big man to go next to Hibbert.

Khris Middleton's cap hold is under $3 million, so waiving Butler, Williams and Gutierrez could put them in prime position to work a sign-and-trade for a big man on the market. Even grabbing a free agent like Tyson Chandler before re-signing Middleton to a healthy deal with give this team incredible depth and versatility heading into next season. And they have the expiring contracts to do even more creative roster moves.

Cap holds shouldn't factor into eating the Knicks' cap space at all this summer because there's not really anybody they should be set on bringing back. Jason Smith could be a solid option for a third big man for them, and you could see them hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with Alexey Shved again like they did at the end of the season. But this roster needed an overhaul and they need to target a big man who can excel in the Triangle. They'll set their sights on Greg Monroe and LaMarcus Aldridge with Monroe the likely target. Maybe they'll fit in Arron Afflalo as well at shooting guard and try to grab David West on a discount. The goal shouldn't be to build a contender this summer because that's not realistic. Just don't be a laughing stock and grab some shooting.

And bringing back Kyle O'Quinn could be the depth inside they're looking for. Orlando doesn't need much; they just need time.

The Sixers are still acquiring high-reward prospects and filling in with players they think they can develop for cheap. Don't expect them to be major players this summer.

Depending on what happens with Monta Ellis, they could end up falling back on him as a starting shooting guard of the future, but the idea seems to be to try to grab the interior first and fill in the backcourt later. They'll only have all of this cap space if they renounce the rights to their free agents, but they'll only be forced to do so if they sign new players.

This summer will be the crossroads for the Nuggets. In theory, the Houston Rockets could just re-sign Patrick Beverley, K.J. McDaniels and even Jason Terry to be pretty set with their roster for next year. Despite big injuries throughout the season, the Rockets finished with the 2-seed in the ultra-competitive Western Conference. Renouncing free-agent rights of their guys, plus getting rid of the non-guaranteed deals could start putting them in a position to be a real player in free agency. They could target LaMarcus Aldridge, send out some combination of veteran forwards and bring him in to be the third star next to Harden and Howard. But they still need someone next to Harden in the backcourt and a well-balanced team will probably have more stability.

Doc Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers can't mess around here. The best they can do is walk away from this summer with giving DeAndre Jordan a five-year, $100 million contract and hoping he accepts. With reports that he's starting to lean toward leaving the Clippers (or at least consider it), it's not like the Clippers have a backup plan of turning elsewhere with that money. They have no real cap room. They'll likely look to re-sign Austin Rivers and hope for some low-price veterans to fill out the interior depth. But if Jordan rebukes them and leaves for somewhere else, they may have to desperately look into a sign-and-trade for someone like Tyson Chandler.

The Lakers are just hoping to land a significant free agent, so they can get their confidence back in the free agency game and prove they're still a prime destination for NBA stars. There will also be rumors of the Lakers still having the flexibility to trade for DeMarcus Cousins, but the Sacramento Kings still have to be the ones who agree to such a move.

Ideally, the Grizzlies would re-sign Marc Gasol and Kosta Koufos. There doesn't seem to be a real threat of any team poaching Gasol in free agency, and the buzz around other teams trying to steal him has been dying for months. Keeping Koufos could be tricky though. He's arguably the best backup center in the NBA and some team could come knocking and offer him a starting gig. If that happens, the Grizzlies will have to either rely on their group of undersized but strong power forwards to do the job or go searching for a backup to Gasol. The backup point guard situation is currently Beno Udrih, but the Grizzlies would probably love a more stable and talented backup (Udrih is fine but you can upgrade).

There are a lot of things the Wolves would probably like to do. They'd love to find a taker for Nikola Pekovic's contract. But the team is bringing over Euroleague MVP Nemanja Bjelica, and they're hoping (and likely) to re-sign Kevin Garnett. With Alvin Gentry taking over this team, you can expect them to attack quickly and play a lot of small ball with Anthony Davis at the center. However, to alleviate some of the wear-and-tear the center position can bring, having a starting center and a backup to put alongside Davis is the smart way to go. We could see a lot of three-guard lineups featuring Holiday, Gordon, and Evans, but they'll need at least one more shooting wing in the rotation, and they'll probably look into bringing Norris Cole back after his impressive playoff stretch. If he becomes too pricey to match, there are plenty of point guards available to try to sign.

There isn't much the Thunder have to do this offseason, other than get healthy. With Kevin Durant coming back to a very deep team, the Thunder really just have to worry about keeping Enes Kanter as a Sixth Man-type big off the bench, and maybe even bring 2014 first-round pick Josh Huestis to the roster. There are too many players available, so putting Dakari Johnson in the D-League, waiving or trading the non-guaranteed deal of Luke Ridnour and finding a take for restricted free agent Kyle Singler (possibly in a trade for a second-round pick) are just housekeeping moves to make.

The Suns need to figure out where they're headed. Are they the two point guard attack we saw with Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe, and can you replicate that with Bledsoe and Brandon Knight? If they re-sign Knight, do they try to move Bledsoe for more assets or maybe a big man? Phoenix has a lot of depth on the wings, but they need to figure out how to channel that into a more balanced attack. Alex Len made big strides last season, but he needs depth behind him. They could use a better backup point guard if they're going to keep Bledsoe and Knight together.

The Blazers are in a tight spot. Months ago, they probably never thought they'd have to worry about the threat of LaMarcus Aldridge leaving. Now, depending on the rumors you believe, he could be out the door. If they can't find a way to convince him to stay, Portland has to make a real decision on how they want to retool this roster. Do they renounce the rights to their free agents, tank for a year, add a star prospect (2016 first-round pick owed to Denver, lottery protected) and go into next summer with oodles of cap space? Or do they go try to get someone like David West or Greg Monroe while relying on Lillard as their main star?

The majority of the flexibility with the Kings this summer is whether or not they want to entertain bringing back Derrick Williams. If they decide to renounce their rights to him and aren't attached to the other free agents, they'll have about $8 million plus the room exception to go find some depth. Their starting positions should be set, but they need another big man (unless Carl Landry can be healthy) and they really need backups at both wing positions. The focus will be on teams trying to poach DeMarcus Cousins, but the Kings are more likely to be buyers this summer in the trade market than sellers.

Team needs: Keep the band together
The Spurs have all of the flexibility they want. The zero cap space projected is simply eaten up by all of the cap holds to Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. In reality, they can finagle that however they choose, and reports already say Duncan will take a pay cut to try to convince someone like LaMarcus Aldridge to come to San Antonio. From there, they'll re-sign Kawhi Leonard, get a decision on Ginobili's future (retirement?) and hopefully find room for Danny Green (that would require moving Diaw or Splitter). They don't have to do anything but re-sign their guys, but they're in a position to make a big splash.

The Jazz can clear a significant amount of cap space this summer if they want to, which would most likely lead to them trying to swing a big trade. For the most part, their roster is set moving into next season and they don't have to tinker. Their biggest need is at the point guard position, but they may have that solution on the roster with Trey Burke (needs to learn how to hit shots) or Dante Exum (just needs more experience). The Jazz can keep Jeremy Evans and Joe Ingles, release two of the non-guaranteed guys and just capitalize on the success they had after the All-Star break.
