  • Commanders' Jeff Driskel: Emergency QB for Week 11

Drisker (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday night's game against Philadelphia, but he will serve as Washington's emergency third quarterback, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports. As the emergency quarterback, Driskel will only see the field if starter Jayden Daniels and backup Marcus Mariota were both to be knocked out of Thursday's game due to injury. Driskel hasn't taken a snap on offense since Week 2 against the Giants.

  • Commanders' Jeff Driskel: Serving as emergency No. 3 QB again

Driskel (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 9 matchup versus the Giants but will be available as Washington's emergency third quarterback, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports. It will be the third straight week that Driskel serves as Washington's emergency No. 3 QB. The veteran signal-caller can enter Sunday's contest against New York only if Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota are ruled out due to injury, illness or ejection.

Driskel (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against Chicago, but he will serve as Washington's emergency quarterback, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports. • Commanders' Jeff Driskel: Emergency quarterback for Week 7

Driskel (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers, but he will serve as the emergency quarterback. Driskel will be the Commanders' emergency quarterback Sunday, meaning he will only see the field if starter Jayden Daniels and backup Marcus Mariota are both injured.

  • Browns' Jeff Driskel: Serving as No. 3 QB

Driskel (coach's decision) is inactive for Saturday's game against the Texans. Despite offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt's comments Wednesday about Driskel serving as the Browns' top backup in their wild-card matchup, he'll be the team's emergency third QB. PJ Walker is active and will backup Joe Flacco on Saturday.

  • Browns' Jeff Driskel: Will be backup Saturday

Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Wednesday that Driskel will be the top backup to starting quarterback Joe Flacco in Saturday's wild-card game at Houston, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports. While filing in as the starter for a resting Flacco in Week 18, Driskel had an uninspiring performance in Sunday's 31-14 loss at Cincinnati. The journeyman signal-caller completed 13 of 26 attempts for 166 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, with both scores coming in the fourth quarter when the outcome was all but decided. The Browns apparently saw enough from Driskel to keep him ahead of No. 3 quarterback PJ Walker as the team opens its playoff run.

  • Browns' Jeff Driskel: Throws two late TDs in spot start

Driskel completed 13 of 26 passes for 166 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 31-14 loss to the Bengals. He added 33 yards on seven rushing attempts. Driskel struggled in his spot start with Joe Flacco resting, as his two interceptions helped the Bengals build a 31-0 lead. The journeyman quarterback salvaged his stat line with fourth-quarter touchdowns of 31 yards and 24 yards to David Bell. Flacco will start in the wild-card round against the Texans, and while the backup job was up in the air between Driskel and PJ Walker heading into the regular-season finale, Driskel likely lost that competition with Sunday's poor performance.

  • Jeff Driskel: Parts ways with Arizona

Driskel was cut from the Cardinals' practice squad Friday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. The veteran quarterback missed Arizona's 53-man roster and was released in late August, but he ended up signing with the team's practice squad just one day later. Driskel has thrown for 2,228 yards, 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions throughout his four-year career. The 30-year-old was cut in order to make room for running back Tony Jones.

  • Jeff Driskel: Getting let go

Driskel will be released by the Cardinals on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Driskel's exit will leave Joshua Dobbs, Clayton Tune and David Blough as the healthy quarterbacks on the team's roster. Wilson speculates that the veteran could return to the team next week though, according to a league source.

  • Texans' Jeff Driskel: Cedes most work to Mills

Driskel completed two of four passes for eight yards and rushed four times for eight yards in the Texans' 30-24 overtime loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. Driskel once again worked in conjunction with Davis Mills at quarterback, but the latter put up 24 pass attempts to Driskel's four. The versatile signal-caller appears likely to continue to cede the majority of passing work to Mills in a Week 16 road battle versus the Titans on Saturday afternoon.

  • Texans' Jeff Driskel: Splits snaps with Mills

Driskel completed four of six passes for 38 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Cowboys. He added 36 rushing yards on seven carries. The Texans split the playing time under center between Davis Mills and Driskel, and each was on the field for 33 snaps. The plan caught Dallas off guard and worked early, but the Cowboys' defense made the necessary adjustments as the game wore on. Driskel was on the field for a key series late in the game -- the Texans took over at the Cowboys' four-yard line following a takeaway with a chance to go up by two scores, but they didn't have Dameon Pierce (ankle) available. A three-yard pass completion to Chris Moore that came up just short of the goal line and two ineffective Rex Burkhead carries preceded what appeared to be Driskel turning the wrong way on a fourth-and-goal bootleg, and the Cowboys stopped him from scoring. While the drive will be the topic of post-game debate, it overshadowed what had been been Houston's most productive offensive showing in four games, a result that could keep Driskel involved in the game plan in Week 15 against Kansas City.

  • Texans' Jeff Driskel: Jumps up from practice squad

Houston elevated Driskel to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's contest versus Dallas. Driskel has not seen any action since being elevated from the Texans' practice squad for the first two games of the season. While the 6-foot-4 quarterback never attempted a pass over these appearances, he did tally two carries for 15 yards as a short-yardage dual threat while playing five offensive snaps. It's likely that Driskel could see similar usage Week 14 behind Davis Mills, who was restored to a starting role after being benched for Kyle Allen ahead of the Week 13 loss to the Browns.

  • Jeff Driskel: Won't play at Chicago

Houston won't elevate Driskel from its practice squad for Week 3, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. It was previously reported by ProFootballNetwork.com's Aaron Wilson that the Texans were expected to elevate Driskel from their practice squad for Sunday's game at the Bears, but they'll instead roll with just starter Davis Mills and backup Kyle Allen. Driskel is eligible to be elevated from the practice squad one more time this season before he would need to be signed to the team's active roster in order to play.

  • Texans' Jeff Driskel: Expected to be active Sunday

Houston plans to elevate Driskel from its practice squad Saturday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. It would be the third consecutive week Driskel is active for the Texans and the last time he'd be eligible to be elevated from the practice squad before he would have to be signed to the team's active roster in order to suit up. He's played just four snaps through two weeks this year.

  • Jeff Driskel: Returns to practice squad

Driskel reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Driskel was elevated to the Texans' active roster for a second consecutive week ahead of Sunday's loss to the Broncos, and he played just three of the team's 63 offensive snaps while recording one carry for 10 yards. He'll head back to the practice squad following the game, but it's possible that he rejoins the active roster at some point.

  • Texans' Jeff Driskel: Plays three snaps

Driskel had one carry for 10 yards in Sunday's 16-9 loss to the Broncos. For the second straight week, Driskel was on the active roster ahead of Kyle Allen. He played three snaps and had a 10-yard run on a 3rd-and-1 situation. It's unclear what would happen if starter Davis Mills got injured, however, and whether the Texans would have Driskel start a game over Allen. Driskel has been used mostly on third downs and hasn't attempted a pass yet.

  • Jeff Driskel: Reverts to practice squd

Driskel reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Driskel was expected to be Houston's No. 3 quarterback, but he suited up ahead of Kyle Allen against the Colts on Sunday. The veteran quarterback saw the field two times in short-yardage situations, and he carried the ball once for five yards.

  • Texans' Jeff Driskel: Bumps to active roster

The Texans elevated Driskel to the active roster Saturday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. This move may be a contingency in the event one of the Texans' top two quarterbacks -- Davis Mills or Kyle Allen -- suffers an injury during pregame warmups for Week 1 against the Colts. A decision on Driskel's availability, or lack thereof, will come about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Texans' Jeff Driskel: Leads 10 drives

Driskel completed 16 of 26 passes for 165 yards, two touchdowns with three interceptions in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over New Orleans. He added three carries for 17 yards. Starter Davis Mills played two series -- both were quick three-and-outs -- and backup Kyle Allen (illness) wasn't available, which afforded Driskel three-plus quarters. It was a mixed bag for the third-stringer, who was the beneficiary of three Houston takeaways but also turned it over three times himself. Asked about Driskel's performance following the game, Houston head coach Lovie Smith reaffirmed the quarterback depth chart as Mills, Allen then Driskel.

  • Texans' Jeff Driskel: In line for heavy work Saturday

Driskel will play a majority of Saturday's preseason opener against the Saints after the Texans announced Kyle Allen (illness) will not be available, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. Allen normally runs with the second-team offense, but he did not participate in Thursday's evening practice session and subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. Davis Mills will play the first two series of the game, and Driskel will handle the rest of the contest.
