  • Chargers' Alex Erickson: Two more catches in loss

Erickson caught two of his five targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 13-12 loss to the Chiefs. The 31-year-old joined the active roster Week 11 and, after injuries to Joshua Palmer (knee) and Keenan Allen (heel), somewhat miraculously emerged as the team's top target. finishing with 16 receptions for 232 yards, both of them higher figures than his past three seasons combined. It's safe to say the veteran wideout won't be a highly sought-after free agent despite the positive small sample size, but it's possible Erickson could at least make a preseason roster given his special teams acumen.

  • Chargers' Alex Erickson: Week 18 Waiver Priority List

If the Chargers are again without Keenan Allen (heel) and Josh Palmer (concussion) then look at Erickson as a flier in deeper leagues. In Week 17 at Denver with Allen and Palmer out, Erickson had seven catches for 98 yards on eight targets. He appears to have a good connection with Easton Stick, and Erickson could be a useful option in Week 18 against the Chiefs if Allen and Palmer are out again.

  • Chargers' Alex Erickson: Breaks out with 98 yards

Erickson made seven receptions on eight targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 16-9 loss to the Broncos. A slew of injuries to the Chargers' receiving corps opened the door for Erickson to secure a bigger role on offense in recent weeks. The undrafted Wisconsin product took full advantage of that opportunity Sunday, when he finished as his team's leading receiver across the board. The Chargers aren't getting healthier anytime soon, so Erickson should have another opportunity to put his skills on display against the Chiefs in Week 18.

  • Chargers' Alex Erickson: Secures two catches in loss

Erickson caught both of his targets for 31 yards in the 24-22 loss to the Bills on Saturday. It appears as if Erickson has overtaken Jalen Guyton as the team's No. 4 wideout, a role that has seen more work in the two-game absence of Keenan Allen (heel). Despite the increase in playing time, the 31-year-old did very little, tallying just his seventh total catch this season.

  • Chargers' Alex Erickson: Signs with active roster

The Chargers signed Erickson to their active roster Saturday. Erickson is joining Los Angeles' active roster for the third consecutive week. This move likely comes to ensure depth at wide receiver, as both Mike Williams (knee) and Joshua Palmer (knee) remain on injured reserve. In Erickson's two appearances this season, the Wisconsin product has caught two of his four targets for 29 yards.

  • Chargers' Alex Erickson: Moves back to practice squad

Erickson reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Erickson was elevated from the practice squad for the third time this season ahead of Sunday's Week 12 loss to Baltimore. He had a significant role in that contest, finishing third among the team's wideouts in offensive snaps (34) while producing one catch for 17 yards on three targets. With both Mike Williams (knee) and Joshua Palmer (knee) on IR and No. 2 wideout Quentin Johnston dealing with a rib injury, Erickson has a good chance to be active again this coming Sunday versus New England. For that to happen, the Chargers would need to sign him to their 53-man roster.

  • Chargers' Alex Erickson: Joins active roster

The Chargers elevated Erickson to the active roster Saturday. Erickson was called up from the Chargers' practice squad for Week 10 against the Packers and played 51 of 65 offensive snaps, which was third among the team's wideout corps behind Keenan Allen (61) and Quentin Johnston (56). This is the third time Erickson has been elevated from the practice squad, which means the Chargers would have to sign him to the active roster if the team wants him to play again after Sunday's contest against the Ravens.

The Wisconsin product will now look to adapt in Los Angeles and work to make an impression at practice.

  • Alex Erickson: Cut by Jets

Erickson was released by the Jets on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Erickson had an impressive preseason in New York, which included two touchdown receptions in the exhibition finale. Still, it was not enough to make it through final cuts and onto the 53-man roster. The veteran pass catcher figures to have suitors elsewhere if he does not end up on the Jets' practice squad.

Erickson reverted to the Commanders' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Erickson served as the team's punt returner with Dax Milne (foot) out against the Giants on Sunday, gaining 26 yards on four returns. With Washington now on a bye week and Milne therefore getting extra time to recover, it's unclear whether Erickson will need to be called upon again Week 15 in a rematch with the Giants.

  • Commanders' Alex Erickson: Set to take over punt-return duties

The Commanders elevated Erickson from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports. • Commanders' Alex Erickson: Shining this preseason

Erickson caught each of his three targets for 44 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Kansas City, leading the Commanders in receiving yards for a second straight week. Erickson has five catches for 90 yards on six targets, but he's been less successful in the return game and faces new competition there with RB Antonio Gibson now in the mix on special teams. Erickson, Dax Milne, Cam Sims and Dyami Brown are competing for what likely will be two or three roster spots at wide receiver, with special teams a big part of the equation. Washington's top three to start the season appears set with Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel.

  • Commanders' Alex Erickson: Signs with Washington

The Commanders signed Erickson on Wednesday. Erickson caught just three of four targets for 55 yards across 17 appearances with the Panthers last season, but he has proven to be a reliable punt returner during his first six NFL seasons. Washington also has Dax Milne and Curtis Samuel (hamstring) as potential punt-return options to replace DeAndre Carter, who signed with the Chargers this offseason. However, Erickson has the most experience, which will likely make him the favorite to win the gig heading into training camp.

Erickson (concussion) is active for Sunday's contest against the Giants, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official website reports. The 28-year-old wideout has been targeted just twice -- catching both for 42 yards -- this season, but he has been the primary punt returner for the Panthers during the 2021 campaign. With Terrace Marshall (concussion) inactive against the Giants, Erickson may see an uptick in offensive snaps Sunday.
