Fantasy News

  • Malcom Brown: Released by Jacksonville

The Jaguars released Brown on Wednesday. Brown appeared in all 17 games for the Jaguars last year and recorded a career-high 57 tackles and two sacks across 653 defensive snaps. The eighth-year pro has been a productive defensive tackle with New England, New Orleans and Jacksonville, and will likely garner plenty of interest as a free agent.

  • Jaguars' Malcom Brown: Off COVID-19 list

Brown (illness) was activated off reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, John Shipley of SI.com reports. Brown tested positive for the virus Monday, but he was able to clear the NFL's COVID-19 protocols in time to be active for Week 17. The 27-year-old defensive tackle has totaled 54 tackles and one sack across 15 appearances during his first season with the Jaguars.

  • Jaguars' Malcom Brown: Traded to Jags

The Saints traded Brown to the Jaguars on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The Saints planned to cut Brown if they couldn't find a trade partner, so this works out well for both parties. The Jaguars are upgrading their defensive front, as they also signed veteran DT Tyson Alualu on Tuesday. Brown, a first-round pick in 2015, struggled to stand out on the Saints' crowded defensive line, and he recorded 27 tackles and a sack across 13 games last season. He'll compete with Alualu and Taven Bryan for playing time.

  • Saints' Malcom Brown: Listed as questionable

Brown (calf) is questionable for Friday's game versus the Vikings. Brown has missed the last two games, but he practiced in a limited fashion all week, providing a decent chance that he can return this week. The sixth-year defensive tackle typically plays around half of the defensive snaps despite not starting a game this season.

  • Saints' Malcom Brown: Can't go against Chiefs

Brown (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs. Brown made no discernable progress in his recovery, as he failed to take the field all week. Shy Tuttle and Malcolm Roach should both see upticks in usage behind Sheldon Rankins and David Onyemata on Sunday.

  • Saints' Malcom Brown: Won't play versus Eagles

Brown (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Eagles. Brown is set to miss his first game since the 2018 season. This hurts the Saints' depth on their feared defensive front. His reps likely will be absorbed by Sheldon Rankins, David Onyemata and Shy Tuttle as the Saints look to stymie the Eagles run game, which should be enhanced with Jalen Hurts making his first career start.

  • Saints' Malcom Brown: Leaves with calf injury

Brown (calf) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the 49ers, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports. Brown exited Sunday's contest in the third quarter. If the starting defensive tackle isn't able to return, New Orleans could have increased difficulty containing San Francisco's dangerous running game.

  • Saints' Malcom Brown: Gets to QB in win

Brown recorded three tackles and a sack in Sunday's 31-24 win over the Buccaneers. Brown now has two sacks through five games, with both coming against the Texans and the Buccaneers. He should have a good shot to add to his total with a Week 6 game against the Jaguars, considering Gardner Minshew has been dropped 12 times so far.

  • Patriots' Malcom Brown: Limited Wednesday

Brown (calf) was limited at practice Wednesday. Brown was limited by a calf injury to kick off the second week of Super Bowl LIII prep. If the issue lingers into the weekend, Adam Butler could be on the receiving end of additional snaps.

  • Patriots' Malcom Brown: Ready for Sunday's contest

Brown (knee) will play Sunday versus the Bears. Brown will return from his one-game absence and looks to contain Bears' running backs Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. The fourth-year pro has 10 tackles (eight solo) through five games so he's not a viable IDP option at this time.

  • Patriots' Malcom Brown: Questionable with knee injury

Brown is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Colts with a knee injury. As long as Brown is out, Adam Butler is expected to take over at defensive tackle alongside Lawrence Guy. Knee injuries are often long-term issues, so there will be hope that Brown is simply nicked up.

  • Patriots' Malcom Brown: Long shot for Sunday

Brown (ankle) appears to be a long shot for Sunday's matchup with the Chargers, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Brown limped off the field last Sunday with an ankle injury and has been absent from practice this week, leaving the defensive tackle's status for Sunday in serious question. Look for more updates to come once the Patriots release their injury report. Should he be ruled out, Lawrence Guy and Alan Branch would be the only remaining defensive tackles on the active roster.

  • Patriots' Malcom Brown: Exits with ankle injury

Brown injured his ankle Sunday against the Falcons and is questionable to return. Brown exited the game in the third quarter with one tackle to his name. Both Alan Branch and Lawrence Guy figure to see added snaps in his absence.

  • Patriots DL Dominique Easley reportedly could be out 1-2 weeks

Patriots defensive lineman Dominique Easley (hip) did not practice on Wednesday, Doug Kyed of the New England Sports Network reports. Easley's absence was due to a hip pointer suffered during Thursday's game against the Steelers and early reports indicate Easley will likely miss 1-2 weeks rehabbing the injury. With Easley most likely missing Sunday's contest against the Bills, 2015 first-round pick Malcom Brown could step in and receive more snaps.
