His production took a step back in his second season with Seattle, however, as he finished 2021 with 30 total tackles and one sack in 15 games. The 30-year-old has played with four different organizations over the past five years and is now in search of a new team once again.

Mayowa (groin) is considered questionable for Sunday's game versus the Cowboys, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports. It's unclear what capacity Mayowa practiced Friday, but it's encouraging that he hasn't been ruled out after being listed as DNP on Wednesday and Thursday. Mayowa recorded a sack and a pass breakup in Sunday's 38-25 win over the Falcons. • Raiders' Benson Mayowa: Marks two sacks

Mayowa made three solo tackles and two sacks in Monday's 24-16 win over the Broncos. Although Mayowa was used sparingly -- he played 25 of 64 defensive snaps (39 percent) -- he made good use of the opportunities by recording two of Oakland's three sacks Monday. It'll be tough for him to be a consistent IDP asset, however, unless Mayowa earns a more-consistent snap count.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is hopeful that Mayowa (knee) will be able to return to practice soon, David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports. "I don't want to be definitive on that, but he's making progress," Garrett said. "But hopefully in the next few days we can inch him along and get him out there." Mayowa underwent a knee scope in June with an original timetable for his recovery of six weeks, but he appears to be a bit behind that schedule now. Assuming he comes off the PUP list soon though, he'll still have plenty of time to potentially win a starting job at DE to begin the season while the Cowboys are without the suspended DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory.

  • Cowboys' Benson Mayowa: Signs with Dallas

The Raiders opted not to match the Cowboys' offer sheet for Mayowa, DallasCowboys.com reports. Mayowa only has two career sacks to his name, but the Cowboys liked what they saw from him last season in a limited role with the Raiders, and he'll join a defensive end rotation that is very unsettled beyond DeMarcus Lawrence. With Randy Gregory suspended for the first four games of 2016, Mayowa could take on a larger role than expected.

Mayowa has the size and athletic ability Dallas looks for in their pass rushers, and they certainly need help at defensive end, but he's still very raw and isn't likely to be anything more than a rotation player in 2016 whichever team he winds up with.
