  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Week 7 Waiver Priority List

It was disappointing to see McNichols get only two carries for 9 yards in Week 6 at Baltimore with Brian Robinson Jr. (knee) out, but that was a tough matchup against the Ravens. If Robinson remains out again in Week 7 against the Panthers then I like McNichols as a flex option since he'll continue to work in tandem with Austin Ekeler. Carolina is No. 1 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and McNichols is worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Gets only two touches

McNichols took two carries for nine yards in a 30-23 loss to Baltimore on Sunday. McNichols had 118 total yards and three TDs on 15 touches over the previous two games, taking on extra work with Austin Ekeler and then Brian Robinson (knee) limited/absent due to injuries. Robinson missed Sunday's game in Baltimore, but the Commanders didn't attempt many rushes against a stout run defense, and McNichols finished without a target despite playing 39 percent of snaps and running 17 routes (just three fewer than Ekeler). McNichols will almost certainly get more touches if Robinson misses another contest Week 7 against Carolina, but Ekeler would still be the much safer bet for volume and production.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Gets into end zone again

McNichols carried the ball seven times for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-13 win over the Browns. Even with Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler both healthy, McNichols saw a significant workload in the second half of Sunday's rout, capping his day with a three-yard TD run in the third quarter. The Commanders' offense has been potent enough of late that there could be touches available for all three RBs, and McNichols has gotten into the end zone three times in the last two contests, but he's still third in the backfield pecking order heading into a Week 6 meeting with the Ravens.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Two TDs in Ekeler's absence

McNichols rushed eight times for 68 yards and two touchdowns while catching his only target for six yards in Sunday's 42-14 win over the Cardinals. McNichols got only nine touches to Brian Robinson's 24, but the backup made the most of his additional opportunities in Austin Ekeler's (concussion) absence. McNichols broke free for a 27-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and capped off the scoring with a seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth. If Ekeler's unable to clear concussion protocol before the Commanders host the Browns in Week 5, McNichols would remain in a change-of-pace role behind Robinson.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Serving as No. 2 back Sunday

McNichols is in line to serve as the Commanders' No. 2 running back in Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Cardinals with Austin Ekeler (concussion) inactive for the game. McNichols logged eight snaps of emergency duty in the Week 3 win over the Bengals on Monday night after Ekeler was forced from the contest. The 2017 fifth-round pick of the Buccaneers has bounced around the NFL over the last seven-plus seasons and has just 91 career carries across 38 regular-season contests, so the threat he represents to lead back Brian Robinson's workload is virtually non-existent. McNichols is a capable pass catcher, however, so he could conceivably have some PPR value in very deep leagues if the Commanders trail in the second half and are forced into frequent passing situations.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Draws preseason start

McNichols carried the ball five times for 23 yards in Sunday's 20-10 preseason win over the Patriots. McNichols had been vying for the third spot on the running back depth chart with Chris Rodriguez throughout camp. He appears to have the upper hand, as he started the game and was the only back to get a carry or target through Washington's first two offensive possessions. That suggests he'll be active and may get a few snaps in a Week 1 matchup against Tampa Bay, though his role is likely to be minimal.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Rotates with Rodriguez

McNichols had three carries for 10 yards and one catch for eight yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Jets. McNichols and Chris Rodriguez split snaps throughout the first half, after Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler were removed following the opening drive. It's a good sign for McNichols' chances of at least earning a spot on the practice squad, at which point he could be the injury replacement for Ekeler (while Rodriguez would be the natural fit to fill in for Robinson). McNichols spent most of last year on San Francisco's practice squad, and he's bounced around the league as a passing-down back and special-teams player ever since the Buccaneers took him in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Gets chance with Washington

The Commanders signed McNichols to a contract Monday. McNichols spent most of the 2023 season on the 49ers' practice squad. He did suit up for three regular-season games with San Francisco, but he played exclusively on special teams (20 snaps). This offseason, McNichols will get a chance to compete for a depth role behind Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson.

  • Jeremy McNichols: Cut from practice squad

The 49ers cut McNichols from the practice squad Wednesday, per the NFL's transaction log. McNichols has been either cut, signed or elevated to the 49ers' active roster 14 times this season. He's appeared in three games for San Francisco, playing 20 special teams snaps.

  • Jeremy McNichols: Back to practice squad

McNichols reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Monday. McNichols was elevated to the active roster ahead of the team's matchup with the Rams in Week 18, recording an assisted tackle while playing 12 snaps on special teams. With Christian McCaffrey (calf) likely back for the team's upcoming first playoff game in the divisional round the weekend of Jan. 20-21, it's unclear if McNichols will get another shot with the active roster.

  • 49ers' Jeremy McNichols: Elevated to active roster

The 49ers elevated McNichols to the active roster Saturday. McNichols rejoined the 49ers' practice squad Dec. 29 after being let go by the team two days prior. With Christian McCaffrey (calf) ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest against the Rams, McNichols could see some snaps on offense as the third back behind Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason.

  • Jeremy McNichols: Let go by San Francisco

McNichols was cut by the 49ers on Wednesday. McNichols was part of the 49ers' active roster for Monday's loss to the Ravens, but failed to record any stats while playing two offensive snaps. With Elijah Mitchell (knee) set to return in Week 17, the 28-year-old was the odd man out in San Francisco's backfield. McNichols could stick around and join the 49ers' practice squad again or it's possible that he finds a new opportunity elsewhere.

  • 49ers' Jeremy McNichols: Moves to 53-man roster

McNichols was signed to the 49ers' active roster from their practice squad Thursday, McNichols' promotion comes after he spent Week 15 with the team while Elijah Mitchell tended to a knee injury and was out of action. The former's addition to the active roster would suggest Mitchell is unlikely to suit up Monday against the Ravens, teeing up McNichols for a role similar to Week 15 against the Cardinals that saw him play six special-teams snaps but none on offense.

  • Jeremy McNichols: Reverts to practice squad

McNichols reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Monday. McNichols was active but did not play in Sunday's 45-29 win over the Cardinals. With Elijah Mitchell (knee) potentially unavailable for Week 16 versus the Ravens, McNichols could be elevated to the active roster again.

  • Jeremy McNichols: Reverts to practice squad

McNichols reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Monday. In his 2023 debut, McNichols played six snaps on special teams without recording a stat in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Seahawks. He'll now wait for his next opportunity to be elevated to the active roster.

  • Jeremy McNichols: Headed to San Francisco

McNichols signed with San Francisco's practice squad Wednesday. McNichols will now return to the 49ers' practice squad where he had a brief stint in September before being released. With Elijah Mitchell still dealing with a knee injury, McNichols will provide San Francisco extra depth in the backfield if called upon.

  • Jeremy McNichols: Joins 49ers' practice squad

San Francisco signed McNichols to its practice squad Tuesday. In a corresponding move, tight end Troy Fumagalli was cut from the practice squad. McNichols last saw the field in 2021, and he's not likely to get brought up to the active roster any time soon.

  • 49ers' Jeremy McNichols: Injures hamstring

McNichols (hamstring) will likely be out for San Francisco's preseason finale against the Chargers, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports. McNichols was competing for the third-string role with Jordan Mason and Tyrion Davis-Price and could now be in danger of not making the final roster because of this injury. The 27-year-old had rushed for 36 yards on 10 carries in the first two preseason games.
